Moyes has approved the Strootman deal should go through in the next few weeks.

Andyp MUFC

Believable39 Unbelievable14

Source please Andy!

Agree0 Disagree0

If its approved, why would it take weeks?

Melwing28

Agree1 Disagree1

Melwing28 because we can't sign anyone from abroad until officially until 1st July.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes that part is true, but the club and player can announce anything anytime they like.
We have done this before with Nani, Anderson, Stam.

melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

He is the mostly likely arrival in midfield. can't see Fabregas here. Ed004 any update on Darren Fletcher illness? Because that will also determine how many midfielders we will look to sign. {Ed004's Note - I haven't heard anything about him though I don't think he will make it back unfortunately}

Agree0 Disagree0

Strootman is signing, Thiago is close but not done, there will also be bids for 2 players but only 1 will be signed (if bid is accepted). That will be a big big signing if it happens.

Farley

Believable31 Unbelievable20

Who are the two players we're supposedly bidding on?

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Matt Jarvis and Jordan Henderson.

Agree0 Disagree0

If it will be a 'big, big signing, it suggest to me that it can be either Bale or Ronaldo.

Agree0 Disagree1

Peter Crouch has been the name thrown around to be the big, big signing!

United are in discussions with Barca, but not for Fabregas or alcantara (both will stay), but Alexis Sanchez, who will be surplus at the Nou Camp with the arrival of Neymar! 23m is the price. True is this!

Believable7 Unbelievable42

I'd rather have Alexis Sanchez over Nani, if we could sell Nani and not pay much more to get Sanchez then that's worth it IMO.

Ozwald

Agree5 Disagree0

Sanchez isn't fit to wear our shirt, has been a disaster at barca. not good enough

Agree0 Disagree0

If I remember rightly he was coming to us until Barca came calling, let him rot there!

********UNITED NEWS**********

Manchester United will complete the signing of Kevin Strootman after the under 21 tournament for 16 million

He will be the Darren Fletcher replacement. Anderson will be given until January to prove his fitness as David Moyes rates the player highly

Leighton Baines will definitely not sign as Moyes will instead turn to Southampton left back Luke Shaw who he believes can push Patrice Evra and Alex Buttner. Shaw would be available for 8 million.

Moyes hasn't as yet decided what to do with Fabio when he returns, Could he be used in a midfield role?

Probably the biggest shock of the summer will be the signing of Javier Pastore from PSG for 22 million

Watch this space

Believable8 Unbelievable42

Plz leave a name and a source of some kind. Pastore is certainly intriguing if true (sadly, the lack of name and source completely irridicates this rumour for me)

Apparently PSG have had a bid of £17.1m turned down by united for Rooney (source: sport witness/le parisien)
What a joke

Believable19 Unbelievable11

17. 1? that's an insult.

Rodio17

Agree2 Disagree0

€20m.

I'd expect United would want around €35m for Rooney if they wanted to sell. Still, opening bids need to start somewhere.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

It made me chuckle that the reported bid for Rooney was less than the reported bid for Nani!

Nat

Agree1 Disagree0

All he's worth but united aren't in need to sell him

Agree0 Disagree0

Just thinking out loud here with regards to the Rooney situation. I'm interested in everyone's thoughts:

From what I've been reading, now it doesn't mean it's true, but interest in Rooney seems to be mainly from PSG and Chelsea. Personally can't see him going abroad so do we sell to Chelsea. In my opinion if we get a decent offer for him then I think yes.

But then where does that leave us? Is Hernandez good enough to step up? Probably not. But then who do we buy? I still think there is a chance re Lewandowski but certain isn't a given. But then there aren't many other realistic options. Bale as a forward? Can't see us buying him.

Then the only option is to put Kagawa further up and then buy at least 2 other midfielders. Could happen but then I think we definitely need a new winger like Di Maria.

Seems a bit of a stick or twist to me.

Rudderpost {

Believable10 Unbelievable7

Lewadowski is going to Bayern Munchen

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa should be playing off the striker anyway. I also think Hernandez and van Perdue up front is lethal. We were at our best this yr when those 2 were together but for some strange reason fergie chose not to start them together again

Agree0 Disagree1

If rooney wants to go, then get him out of the club quickly but only at our terms. ie 35-40million plus, if no club comes in for him, then let him play in the reserves. with a world cup year coming up that should be fun.
lewandoski is off to bayern, and not many top class strikers available, maybe higuain or benzema but think they could be too similar to rvp. might also be a bit much to lay our hopes on kagawa, who to his credit has admitted he's disappointed with his form.
should be an interesting summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the last poster. For me, the future is Chicharito and van Persie up front with Kagawa just behind.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2013 17:52:49
I've seen a lot of talk of us getting Di Maria this summer and as much as I doubt it will happen, this is how I would line us up next season
De Gea in goal with the obvious Rafael, Vidic, Evans, Evra defense
Then Carrick and Jones holding our midfield and protecting the back line with Thiago (wishful thinking I know) and Kagawa acting as 2 active playmakers who would link up well with each other and press high up the pitch like Moyes knows how, which brings me onto Di Maria
I think as oppose to using him as a winger we should move him to behind the striker, this would increase his goal tally and let him run at defenders more and boost his confidence this getting the best out of him and van Persie/Chicharito up front
Your thoughts

Believable5 Unbelievable38

I presume you would sell Rooney, whichI'd agree with. I would, however, want Strootman alongside Carrick and perhaps Baines for Evra.

Agree0 Disagree0

Width?

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting thought, but I wouldn't sign Di Maria to play as a cf, kagawa would be better there if he was allowed to make runs and not stand around the edge of the box like he's done this season.
DHK

Agree0 Disagree0

Thoughts are you haven't sobered up from last night yet??

Agree0 Disagree0

Dunno about Carrick and Jones
Against Brazil, absolutely useless

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't understand the new love in there has been for carrick. at the end of the day he is a very ordinary player. slow, can't tackle and is ordinary. granted he had accent season, but the previous 4 were terrible.

Agree0 Disagree4

Sounds good but Di Maria is a bit of a lightweight he goes down and roles around like he is on fire. Yes he is skillful has pace and can score. Regarding to your starting line-up GK and Defence is fine Strootman is more than likely coming to us so I would perfer Carrick "Deep" and Strootman "Box 2 Box" in the middle two with Thiago Kagawa as "Advance Playmakers" with RVP upfront. Which leaves a space for either a Winger/Forward/Attacking Midfielder. Your thoughts on this Edd? {Ed004's Note - I can't think of any better wingers than Di Maria available}

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard that Villas-Boas is interested in Nani. Could this potentially get the ball rolling for a deal for Bale.

Believable14 Unbelievable36

It's not Villas Boas that calls the shots though. Would rather sell him to Monaco, and then use that money to go for Bale or Reus.

Nat

Agree2 Disagree0

No, cause we won't be paying 80 mill for bale, can't believe anybody really believes we will buy bale or ronnie, we have to be realistic, and if we have got 80 million if spent wisely could make us very competitive next season, but we aren't buying bale, fabregas or ronnie.
mick the red fireman.

Agree2 Disagree0

People really need to give up on this Bale nonsense.

Bale will not be joining MU.

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree0

Mick, do you seriously believe Bale would cost £80m? He will sell for around £50m if sold.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Monaco are also interested in Nani. I wouldn't be surprised if a bid from them doesn't come in soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2013 17:29:30
In your Dreams. Levy pulls the strings not AVB

Agree0 Disagree0

Buying Bale for any amount is going to make us more competitive he is world class only behind the best two players in the world we have bags of cash and will spend over 100m on new players it is on for big signings anyone who thinks we don't have the cash will be in for a shock and I hope people will stop putting us down so much we are the biggest team in the world not that ya would notice from so many posters. bring on the transfer window let's get the best we don't need squad players SAF said we will only be signing the very best out there and I believe him. Katef

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney, Bale wll go for upwards of 60m that's a definite.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

No syd I do not believe he is worth the 80 mill being bandied around, i'm just replying to the nonsense on here fella.

Apparently Monaco have offered 25 million Euros for Nani!

bk7

Believable39 Unbelievable18

If we get that it's a no brainer. wonder are they interest in evra as well. 7 or 8 million and they can have him too

Agree0 Disagree0

Take it quick

A

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot see it personally, 6m-7m euros too high I think.

Ed002, I know you won't discuss money, but have Monaco bid for Nani? Thanks.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware Syd.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Not saying it would happen but I'd be delighted with 25 mil Euros for both, considering Evra's age and Nani's contract length (1 year left). If we reinvested that plus a bit more in Baines & Strootman, then spent what remains of our budget on a winger (and ideally a 2nd CM'er) we'd be sorted IMO. {Ed004's Note - If we could get near 25-30 mill for both of them it would near enough cover the fee's to sign both Baines and Di Maria and both those players would dramatically increase the team. Then there is money left over to address CM and hopefully LM}

Agree0 Disagree0

We really need to dramatically strengthen our midfield. We need 2 cmf's, a ball winner and a ball player. We have one decent MF Carrick, one potential good midfielder in Powell. Kagawa should be playing off RVP in the hole. Cleverley isn't good enough and Jones should be in defence. As for wingers, it will be interesting to see what Moyes does, he hasn't really ised orthodox wingers at Everton. I'd keep Rooney as a Midfielder and buy Fellani and Tiago. Strrotman isn't a great ball winner and he isn't blessed with great skills, he's in the Cleverley, Fletcher mould, better but not outstanding. I think with Carrick, Tiago, Rooney and Fellaini we would have midfielders in our squad that would vastly improve our team in every situation including injuries. I'd only go for Strootman as a last resort, he looks great on YouTube, good in the Dutch league, but I just couldn't see him at Bayern, Real, Barca or any other European giant, so why have him at United. I would be happy if we spent most of our kitty on midfield. If there's anything over Luke Shaw looks a good prospect.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree2

Sydney answer this is Nani on his day worth 25m yes he is and then some I know he ain't done it at OT but he is a very good player in the same bracket as Hazard and lucas in terms of ability pace and skill I think 25m euros is about right for a sugar daddy club they may hold us to ransom because they know we don't want him but he is worth that for sure. Katef

Agree0 Disagree0

Strootman will be class he is a must! Would u see fellani at bayern, barca, or even Chelsea no! Sparkyred

MAN UTD {Ed004's Note - They're both featuring for the U21 sides in the Euros shortly}

They have no chance of coming to us

Agree1 Disagree1

I think they do

Agree0 Disagree1

Strootman Carrick Thiago would give us the perfect balance from defence to attack.
I would settle for these two as the main targets {Ed004's Note - Were is Kagawa going then?}

Agree2 Disagree1

Kagawa could play in front of the 3 behind rvp, perfect, just need a dm then lol.
mick the red fireman

Agree0 Disagree0

The dm could be carrick

Ed, if you were a betting man would you say that Rooney will be here next season or at PSG? That seems is only two options and it does seem to me that we are forcing him out of the club in favour of bringing in a top replacement. {Ed004's Note - I reckon here but I am hoping PSG as long as a suitable replacement is bought}

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I really hope we sell him, he needs to fix up

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't even need a replacement we just need 2 midfielders. chic and welbeck are good enough to hold the fort if vp gets injured and if not buy back darren gibson and play him up front.

Agree0 Disagree1

If Rooney stays I think he'll be given a midfield role to replace Scholes. I can see Hernandez starting a lot more games next season. Welbeck on the bench. Zaha can play as a striker. Henriquez will be back off loan from Wigan. it's not like we really need another striker. I wouldn't turn down the chance to sign Lewandowski though.

Ed, I read about Dragovic being a special talent, is there any interest from our side? I believe he was very good for Basel in the Europa League.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I don't believe he is top 4 quality in the premier league. recently reported to be a target for everton I believe.

Steve Bates (Manchester based journo) and close to MU believes Moyes has around £60m plus sales this summer to put his own stamp on the club. I wouldn't moan if that is accurate. No doubt the new manager will be backed for his first summer, but I expected around £30m plus sales. Other journalists believe Moyes wants to bring in a so called 'marquee' signing if Rooney is sold. We will see I guess.

Sydney!

Believable15 Unbelievable7

Guessing if Rooney is sold, then the 'marquee' signing is likely to be a striker of some sort. If true, exciting times ahead.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd

If this is accurate which I think it will be I would thing it would be spent on baines and strootman and then maybe one marquee signing if we sell a couple of players

Good news for the club

Agree0 Disagree0

We would get baines and strootman for 40 mill max. Sell rooney, nani and anderson for 60 mill and that leaves 20 + the alleged 60. 80 mill for a world class player or two.

Agree2 Disagree0

I can see this being true. Think Strootman 20m Thiago 18m then sell Rooney for 30m Nani 10m Anderson 8m. Then spend the rest on Ronaldo and give him Rooney wages and everything will be rosie

Agree1 Disagree0

We are in a pretty sh1t position with Rooney. He wants to stay, is earning what no one else wants to pay him while he runs his contract down. Don't get me wrong Rooney has Been great but one of his major assets was his burst of speed but since he has lost that he hasn't really fitted in with our style of play. His first touch is just not good enought to play him in the scholars role either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sorry to say this but we got 80 mil for ronnie and we didn't get to use this so any sales will go to repaying our debt I hope i'm wrong because we need 2 midfielders left back and if rooney goes a striker {Ed004's Note - A lot has changed since then and the past two windows we have spent more than 100 million}

Agree0 Disagree0

Aha, here it is Sydney. Beat ya to it tho!
Who would you think the Marquee signing would be? We share the view that Bale is very doubtful. You sound like your floating around the Ronnie idea, suggesting a player exchange etc on the banter.
I think this is highly unlikely too. I personally would like either Reus, Ozil, Vidal or Veratti. I believe all will be available for the right price. Although all would command a Kings ransom on top of their £30-£40mil price tag.

Agree0 Disagree0

Patzi, not sure. It all comes down to availability I guess. I cannot see a Bale or Ronaldo at United. Modric maybe? I don't know.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmmm is a £25mil Modric a marquee? Would be a good addition, but not marquee IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

I have heard from good people connected to the club Moyes has 100m to spend plus sales if true which they have never been wrong we are in for a very good summer indeed. Katef

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2013 10:22:06
Ed, what is Clement Grenier's current situation? Is he moving this summer, reports say he's on his way to the Emirates. Looks very promising. {Ed002's Note - Lyon's Grenier is of interest to AC Milan, Arsenal, Juventus and Chelsea at the right price. The right price for Lyon is considerably higher when Chelsea and other EPL teams are interested and it will quite possibly price him out of the market. OL would like to keep him.}

If ed2 is around could you enlighten me on what's going on with Jesus Navas, I thought he dogg very home sick away from Sevilla, now apparently wants a move? Also any interest in banega from Valencia, wouldn't be a bad buy imo. Thanks:-) {Ed002's Note - Navas is of interest to Manchester City and would be very high risk - but it looks likely to happen. If Banega leaves Valencia then Italy seems a likely destination with interest from Fiorentina but Inter Milan's long-term interest will likely win out.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Banega would be a perfect replacement for montolivo after he departed for ac milan

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I think he was asking for a guess : (

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe first signing is asking a bit much, but asking who out of all of them is most likely it would have to be strootman?
