major ins mourinho, fergie moving upstairs. ronaldo, lewandowski, willan. mass clear out with nani and anderson leading the way

Believable17 Unbelievable86

Your on cloud nine mate fergie going nowhere it would be great if mour could do a pep and take a year out before coming to old Trafford but I'm afraid it won't happen

Agree1 Disagree0

Actually I have been so impressed with Klopp I'd like him to be next Utd manager

Agree9 Disagree1

Wouldnt want jose the journey man at old trafford, as above i'd take klopp any day of the week, he looks like the real deal to me in the way he acts and the respect he has from his players. excellent coach and likable character too.

Agree1 Disagree0

Put down the pipe dear boy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know where i'd like to shove that pipe, dear BOY.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would agree with the rest of the posters Klopp would be great. Great character lots of respect for his team and great work ethic. Easy to see why Dortmund have done so well

Agree1 Disagree0

This post made my day haha! I want some of whatever this guy's been smoking!

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone on here awhile ago said that the current United policy is to get players to run their contracts down so they can get them for a fairer price. Apparently we did this with Kagawa so we could get him for 12m rather than the 18-20m Dortmund would have wanted if he had more than a year left on his contract.

If this is true then what we could do is look at the players who are refusing to renew their current deals.

If that is true then i'm hopeful on deals for Lewandowski and Ronaldo being concluded. {Ed004's Note - Strootman will be going for a very fair price as well. Shappy if Ronaldo is signed along with Lewandowski then surely someone has to go such as Rooney and would you be worried like myself about the right side as Ronaldo and Bale both prefer to play out left}

Believable25 Unbelievable7

30 Apr 2013 20:56:27
Ed Ronaldo is more than capable of playing on the right. He did it enough first time around. Bale would mean the right would be a concern but i'm sure if we signed either we could cope for a season. Big if though on signing either of them. {Ed004's Note - I agree that's it is a massive IF, I don't think we will sign either but I reckon a fluid front four of Ronaldo, RVP, Lewandowski and Kagawa would be very good}

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Apr 2013 21:07:41
I wouldn't expect Ronaldo to come until next summer rather than this summer. Also if we had RvP Lewandowski and Ronaldo in one team then I would expect it would resemble something closer to a 433 type line up with them up front and three behind them, possibly Carrick Strootman and Kagawa.

I don't see the right hand side as a problem at all. Valencia will be here and if he can regain last seasons form then there is no worries, if not then Welbeck is a very good option. I see him changing more from a striker to an inside forward or AM even as i've said previously. There is currently a good artical that states as much on Bleacherreport. com. Then we also have young Zaha coming in for next season plus players such as Lingard and Januzaj coming through our academy as well. Personally i'd be more concerned with the left hand side. Where we only have a near 40yo Giggs, Kagawa who is better in the middle and a very average Young.

The way I see our summer panning out is Strootman, Lewandowski, Zaha and some young talented midfielder such as Leon Goretzka, Ross Barkley or Saleh Gomaa.

I think Jones will play more games in midfield next year then dropping back into defence the year after when Rio leaves. At which point either a youngster such as Tunnicliffe has proven themselves as a combative option in midfield or we'll sign someone such as Wanyama who has said he wants to stay at Celtic one more year. Then maybe a left back to replace Evra will sign at this point. So summer of 2014 could see maybe Wanyama and Digne maybe sign with maybe Ronaldo or a potential world class attacking player such as Viktor Fischer join up.

Would you be happy with that? Strootman, Lewandowski and Zaha this summer. With Wanyama, Digne and Ronaldo/Fischer next summer?

I'd be made uo with that. {Ed004's Note - I reckon a winger that is world class is a necessity this summer. I'd be more than happy with a left footed player such as Ozil, Rodriguez, Di Maria or Lamela as that means Kagawa can play out left cutting in with someone cutting in on the right but would Evra get enough cover in a system like that, that would be my biggest concern. Personally I'm hoping for a bit more than just Strootman and Lewandowski as first team signings this year}

Agree1 Disagree1

You'd be happy with Ronaldo coming back almost 30 years old? Hopefully he comes this summer if not then Bale would be a smarter option as he's only going to get better and is a fair bit younger!

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Bale would cost at least 50m where as Ronaldo next summer would be closer to 30m. regardless of cost I would prefer Ronaldo.

Agree0 Disagree1

You have to think though at that age would Fergie really buy him as he usually buys fairly youthful players that can develop with the odd exception of RvP.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

01 May 2013 08:01:17
Yes he would, Ronaldo is the only player Sir Alex has said he'd happily resign. Even at 30 Ronaldo will still be one of the best players in the world, he doesn't drink or smoke, he looks after his body and is a totally dedicated professional. Much like Ryan Giggs, Ronaldo at 30 would still be able to give us 5 years of top service. And if you take your mind away from the pitch for a moment then you realise what Ronaldo can being to the club from a finacial aspect though the way he would attact sponsors and how he would strengthen the image of United as the dominant force in football. Plus the mercandising. So from every angle Ronaldo returning looks like a great bit of business as long as he doesn't pick up any serious injuries between now and then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally pointless comment here / question, but how do you think Valencia would react when Ronnie comes back? Ronnie will get the number 7 surely, no? It makes commercial sense to.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Fresh! Hopefully it would inspire Valencia to step up and regain last seasons form. I know he had that awful injury but does anyone else feel that the number 7 shirt has been too heavy for him?

An on-song Ronaldo on the left and an on-song Valencia on the right would surely worry any defence in the world particularly with RVP's movement upfront.

Adz

01 May 2013 15:38:13
I think if Ronaldo comes back it will be after next season. If Valencia has a poor season next season I would expect him to leave then as it would be two poor seasons in a row after a major injury which would indicate that he is unlikely to get back the form he had last season.

Have United confirmed the deal for Bruno Gomes? Young Brazilian Striker from Desportivo Brasil?
James

Believable18 Unbelievable9

30 Apr 2013 18:58:07
Anyone see him the other night 7 goals and 2 assists in the game!

Agree0 Disagree0

As I understand it there is a deal to take him when he turns 18 and can sign a professional contract though I can't remember having seen anything from the club. Then there are Passport and work permit issues to deal with, although the player claims he will be in possession of an italian passport by then.

I suspect he might go out to a feeder club in Europe because I'm not sure he'd qualify as an exceptional talent due to lack of experience with Brazils youth setup.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Apr 2013 17:43:17
Every single year we have to go through this ridiculous pantomime as the press link us with every big name player in Europe who is looking for a better contract. And Fergie will talk about the money being available if needed for the right player. Then when all the season tickets have been renewed he will start talking about being happy with his squad and our old favourite no value in the market. What about your beloved RVP I hear you ask well as Sydney will hopefully back me up We are paying Arsenal in split payments over 4 years for RVP which is great business from us and crazy from Arsenal. Not many clubs will do that with their top stars so that limits us. It has been obvious for the last 4 years that we need quality in the midfield please please please let this be the year that we buy real quality (Not Modric who only shows glimpses of genius I wan't consistently great). Nice to see Fergie talking Rooney up saying he was coming into his peek oh yeah right Fergie as you search desperately for a position for him and keep taking him off as he is getting worse and his passing just isn't up to it. On a plus point who noticed that Zaha won Championship player of the year. Unfortunately for him the first thing he will learn is how to track back to cover for Evera who has gone walk about and is just jogging back.

Believable33 Unbelievable25

Cheer up mate, we just won the league.

Agree5 Disagree0

LOL yup every year we are linked with everybody but that's hardly the clubs fault. I actually do believe we will buy at least 2 more players and we will spend to get them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said kloot
Rodio17

Agree1 Disagree2

Zaha plays on the right though doesn't he? I think he and Rafael need that telepathy that Valencia had last season.
jpem27

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree strongly on the Zaha-Evra comment

Agree0 Disagree2

Very well said. Agree 100%.

Agree0 Disagree1

It's hardly like we need a load of players anyway, we've just won the league and you're going on like we didn't finish in the top 4

Dustbin

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah hatin on this large amount of negativity from you kloot. You've got to remember half the players in our current team are young and going to get better and better they won't just stay the same. Kagawa is going to be massive for us next season and I have a feeling Welbeck could add more goals to his game and make an impact. Zaha we know is truely gifted just got to hope he adjusts asap! Would be good to find a midfielder that can ease pressure off Carrick in that same role though.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Spot on and I've said it before we won't be signing anyone for the midfield SAF will give fletcher all the time he needs and will give scholes another year

Agree0 Disagree3

The teams involved in this weeks champions league have players who have experienced loss of form/confidence at some stage of the season. their managers will all be looking to improve this summer.
Your quick to come on here with your (I told you so)comments but all major teams will be fighting for the 2 or 3 players that could make that big difference.
Your problem is like most on here signing the likes of strootman, Rodriguez Gaitan would not make a massive difference believe me Cleverley will follow the guidance and advice of sir Alex and will become a top Utd player.
If you followed any top side in Europe I guarantee you would by October singled out a player/s who don't meet your high standards, I pity whoever sits next to you at OT.
Your spoilt and your lack of respect for young Utd homegrown talents and Rooney in particular makes me understand why opposition fans sense the arrogance that exists with people like you.
We support the greatest club side bar none yet you will never be happy.
Dylan

Agree3 Disagree3

Dylan,
Enjoyed your response, but c'mon Cleverley a top player? He can't even dislodge a 39 year old veteran! Love home grown talent - got to be better than average though

Agree2 Disagree2

Well said Dylan!
Stevie.

Agree1 Disagree1

We can scream and ball on this site all day long. who's coming who's going. At the end of the day nothing we say is going to sway sir Alex in his buying or selling plans. For gods sake we have just won the league with a less than average Manchester United side by all accounts. let's just see what the summer brings. If you don't like it then have a go. Untill then stop slagging of the champions. Because believe you me, if I don't like what I see, I'll be the first to kick off.

Agree1 Disagree0

Winning the league or not anybody who is happy with the quality of football we have played this season is either easily pleased or knows nothing about football. and don't say i'm spoilt, I've been there through the dark years when we won nothing but played with a swagger, I can't remember a season where I've been to so many games and been totally bored, that isn't utd, s style.
johndenton

Agree1 Disagree1

I fail to see how anyone can disagree with Kloots comments regarding Rooney and Evra. Rooney especially has been very poor this year. I would take £20m for him any day

Agree0 Disagree2

Settle down, they did just win the title. they will need a young centre back for ferdinand, TWO central midfield players to add to the rotation with the two retirements, possibly three if Anderson leaves. I can see a striker being brought in but perhaps one who is an upgrade over Chicharito or Welbeck. Zaha will be useful when he finally joins up.

They totally dominated the league this year despite their weaknesses, this has been a done deal for several weeks already.

The only thing missing now is the depth to go beyond the league and take back the FA Cup and/or the Champions League.

Fergie will bring in some youth to replenish the system, but they will surely need a plus player or two to compete for one of those two recently elusive trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said KLOOT. This nonsense happens this time, every season. Let's hope we finally reinforce in midfield this summer.

RED_SKY

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on. We will end up with 2 or 3 players "for the future" as kloot says, "as there's no value in the market and we are happy with the squad". And the Glazers will charge us all more for everything they can. Prove us wrong Sir Alex!

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of the posts here are incredible. We've just won the league but you'd rather watch a team lose and play with "swagger" if that's the case perhaps try arsenal. what's next we win the cl but one of the goals looked offside so fergie out and a complete overhaul of the squad. As for Rooney not his best season but he's still only 27 and people are writing him off I just think he could be a loss but who knows but there you go after demolishing the rest of the league you can't please everyone but the level of hypocrisy on certain issues is alarming, enjoy the fact we are the best but maybe that's the problem having been spoilt with success for the last twenty odd years its not enoughfor some people but picking out dream signings isn't going to do anything unless they are signed sealed etc. John K

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnk when youve been to as many utd games as me you can have an opinion on who I should support, otherwise go and stick your head up your a r se if you only watch utd to see them win trophys then I pity you and you obviously miss the bigger picture, I don't care if we win trophys or not I go to the games to see the team play decent attractive football which has always been the utd way until recent seasons, and for the social side of things to meet up with friends every home game who I've met and drink with for the last 41 years.
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

Johndenton

Don't be so soft, as if winning trophies is not important. You'd honestly like us to play sexy football but not win anything, like Spurs have done for years? You'd get more pleasure out of that?

'Spolit' is not a nice turn of phrase but I do think it describes lots of poster's on this site.

HBadger

Agree0 Disagree0

Hb winning trophys is nice but its not the be all and end all of following a football team, try asking stockport county or other clubs fans if they go to see them win trophys, its not the reason you follow your team if it is you support them for the wrong reasons.
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

JD

I agree it's not the main reason you watch your team but United is a special case and success here is vital. Success whilst playing sexy football - all the better! Let's hope we sign a couple players that help us get the best of both worlds next season.

Hi eds, if any of you are around. Have seen a couple of rumors floating around that Conte may be willing to sell Marchisio this summer (we know Vidal won't be moving). Is there any truth to this? What an addition he'd be, i'd take him over Strootman in a heartbeat! Cheers! {Ed002's Note - Marchisio has wanted more playing time but he is not one of the players that Juve has said can leave to make way for summer signings. I don't see a move to Manchester.}

Believable2 Unbelievable9

30 Apr 2013 16:28:38
lewandowski will be going to real Madrid, one from higuain or benzema is going to juve.

I think the way he is being repeatedly assaulted by RM players on the pitch, i'd say it's unlikely.

30 Apr 2013 12:25:32
Well if rumours are to be believed then Bayern are pretty sure Lewandowski is heading our way and we are not going to give up on Ronaldo and fight PSG all the way. What a summer this could be if we sign these two. I actually wouldn't care if no midfielder came in and Rooney dropped back there. Our forward line would be formidable, we could outscore anyone and our back line is still pretty solid. Still think Strootman could be a done deal though anyway!

Believable39 Unbelievable21

Fresh have a look at my post that was put on the team page annoyingly and see what you think. We seem to want this Ronaldo deal as much as each other.

Brendan81

Agree0 Disagree0

If any of this is true then this would be the biggest statement of intent I have ever seen by our club

I think we need a midfielder of some sort - Scholes, Fletcher and Ando will probably not be there next season - Giggs and Carrick will be a year older - we'll have Carrick, Giggs, Kagawa.

Team for next season?

-------DDG------
Raf---Vidic----Jones----Evra
----Strootman---Carrick
Rooney-------------Ronaldo
------RVP-----Lewy-----

With Kagawa, Valencia, Young/Nani Welbeck/Chico all on the bench

Sweet Mercy - now that's what I call an attack - Screw the midfield ;)
all wishful thinking :)

Agree1 Disagree1

Can't believe you just said "you wouldn't care if we didn't buy a midfielder". Dear me. I've heard it all now!
No matter how good the forward line is we still need something solid in the middle to help Carrick out or we will will just get over run.
I can hardly see Ronaldo, Lewandowski chasing back can you? Kagawa isn't exactly defensive and neither is Rooney. It would be a disaster.
Imagine trying to control the midfield against Barca, Real or Bayern with Rooney and Carrick sat in the middle, we would get murdered, Rooney isn't fit enough and doesn't have the staminah to play there.

Simmo

Agree5 Disagree1

Fresh, do you really think we have any chance of Ronaldo?

JK92

Agree0 Disagree0

Or Rooney could be sold? Down to
5/4 with . However with their high taxation in France why would Rooney go to PSG?
Steve

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did you hear this Fresh!? I couldn't find anything on Bayern believing that they have lost out on Lewandowski to us.

REDFAITH

30 Apr 2013 17:30:16
Isn't Monaco the main team after Rooney? Doesn't their tax system work differently? Hence all the tax exiles. {Ed002's Note - Yes they are, yes the tax system is different but we never considered ourselves tax exiles.}

Agree0 Disagree0

FRESH

We are not in for Ronaldo. I guarantee it.

Our number one target is Bale.

30 Apr 2013 18:31:30
Ok cheers ed. How serious are Monaco? And in your opinion would Rooney be interested? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure how "seriousness" is measured, but they have a shopping list and he is on it. I have no idea what he would think about moving down there.}

Agree0 Disagree0

ART how do you know bale is our no1 target, exciting if true, joeyored

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get too excited. No value in the market.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Apr 2013 22:16:26
Hi Ed, any interest in Stephan El Sharaawy?

Thank you. {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid, Napoli, Arsenal, PSG and Cologne who have shown an interest in El Shaarawy over the past year. Napoli, Real Madrid and Arsenal would like to strike a deal with Milan at some point but the player is happy where he is and Milan have no intention of selling. I suspect any move is very unlikely this summer.}

Manchester United are willing to offer a British record transfer fee of £55m plus Nani, Anderson or Ashley Young for 23-year-old Tottenham foward Gareth Bale.

Believable29 Unbelievable57

Not going to happen!

Agree0 Disagree1

Good deal. Nani and young not worth much anyway. Anderson is frustrating as we all know he can be very good, but I think he's had long enough and not achieved, so better get rid if a good offer comes in.
Nomidfield

Agree0 Disagree1

Nomidfield, get a grip lad. £55m for Bale alone is ridiculous.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree1

PSG offerd 80m Pounds for CR7, and I think this last story about Bale is related to that action. maybe fergie think now he can't buy Cr7, so he is for Bale.

Agree0 Disagree0

MUTD, or maybe it's just a 'made up' rumour?

There is absolutely no way Bale is worth £65m-£70m.

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree1

Lets not forget Syd that Andy Carroll went for 35 million, i'm pretty sure Bale is worth double that.

Simmo {Ed007's Note - Carroll's fee has no bearing on any other player's value. If you want to look at a player's value like that then Welbeck must be worth about £750k.}

Agree1 Disagree0

There is no way in merry hell that spurs will sell bale to man utd. he's going nower this summer and when he does itll be to bayern or madrid. and yes gareth bale is worth every penny of 65+ mill. 23 years old potentialy 7 of his best years to come and in the top 10 players in the world atm. come on!

Agree2 Disagree1

Ed007 I swear you must sit there slinging poo at your TV every time Welbeck pops up on your screen, as I expect RFT does in relation to Cleverley ;)

TK-Red {Ed007's Note - Don't even get me started on Cleverley!!}

Agree0 Disagree0

When was the last time united actually made a swap deal?

Agree0 Disagree0

Simmo, pretty strange post there mate. Carroll was worth £15m, the fact he went for £35m is irrelevant.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree1

Ok Ed007, question for you; You have to choose one of Welbeck or Cleverley to stay at the club, while the other is sold. Which one would you keep? Knowing full well you rate neither.

TK-Red {Ed007's Note - I'd choose to sell Cleverley, just to upset Syd :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

007, to be fair if the club sold him it wouldn't bother me in the slightest, simply because the manager would have deemed him not good enough. I defend him as I think he deserves 'a chance' to make it at the club. Next season is a big season for him in terms of whether he will be a regular or just a squad player. That being said we should still be looking to strengthen the midfield in the meantime.

Sydney! {Ed007's Note - But that would mean you admitting you were wrong Syd, like that's ever going to happen!}

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Apr 2013 13:19:59
now now Bond we both know Welbeck would destroy the SPL. Easily worth fifteen million and upwards. {Ed007's Note - If Welbeck is worth £15m, Paddy McCourt is worth £20m+. Nobody would pay £15m for Welbeck, if he was at Wigan would you want Utd to buy him at that price? Is that you Ed004?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha yes Ed completely agree. I'd sell Cleverley he's the modern day Nicky Butt at best. Says a lot when a fat and uninterested striker can bench our other 2 central midfielders to partner Carrick. Keane, Byrne and Wilson are the future for our strike force. We don't have any midfielders that are good enough coming through, we need to buy one ASAP.

Dan

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would Spurs even want Anderson and/or Nani?
RedSince68

Agree1 Disagree0

Redsince68 spurs went into a bidding war with Manchester United to buy nani but we beat them to it and got him i'm sure they would still want him ecspeccialy if bale is to leave

THE HEMMINATOR

Agree0 Disagree0

007, but i'm not wrong am I? He is still a Manchester United midfielder and has played more than any other midfielder bar Carrick. I have said he hasn't kicked-on as much as i'd liked, but he has time on his side to improve. I believe he deserves his chance and clearly so does the manager.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd, he's had 2 seasons, as has Welbeck. He may have beenld injured for one of them but he clearly doesn't have the ability to cut it with the best. Like I said, he's being benched by a fat and uninterested striker. Welbeck has a lot of ability but can't seem to transform it into effective play in the final third where it matter, he could come good IMO but Cleverley has no chance of getting to the required level, he's making up the numbers right now and SAF is only played him earlier in the season to see if he could get to that level.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Dan, you are talking nonsense my friend. Cleverley is being rested. Rooney, Jones & Giggs have been filling in whilst he's been rested. This season was his first full season. 90% of last season he was injured or recovering. Next season will be the season that defines his career.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Excuses as per are you related to him or is just as the edd said you don't like being wrong rested dropped I think we all know which one

Agree0 Disagree0

There's only one dope on this site who spells Ed "Edd". Leave a name you fairy.
