Has anyone else seen the Sneijder interview? He answered every question about his future until we were brought up then he walked off Any ideas on what that is all about? Eds? Sydney? Personally I think he is coming but is scared to say anything that would prove it or upset Inter or United

Just watched the Sneijder interview. He did well to stray away from saying whether he wanted to play in England, but as soon as United came up he got that silly grin on his face. I can't see him going anywhere but United, he is pure class. Let's put this saga to bed and join. United till I Die.

His grin tells a million tales. Sadly, he did actually answer 'I'm not'. Could this grin be just as big an indication that he is heading to s**tty?

I doubt it, but as he said himself, anything can happen.

On a sky sports vidoe showing his post match interview, Sneijder was asked:

"Are you flattered to be linked with Man United?"

To which he replied:

"I'm not.", with a big smile on his face whilst hastily leaving the interview area.

I just posted the same thing and thought it was strange too. It was the only question what he didn't answer properly

I think it's certianly a positive thing as it would've been much easier to rule us out, but he smiled and was cagey so that's far more telling for me.

I also found it funny how his assistant just smiled when the question was asked, whch to me says that before the interview he discussed with her which questions he would avoid, and so any questions with Man United in them would not be answered, which is why he and his assistant smiled.

I agree with the other comments, it was a strange attitude, with all the other people laughing in the background too? maybe a deal is already in place but they're not allowed to say? and fergie is waiting to surprise us.. perhaps

Maybe he's agreed terms with another prem team thats why everybody was laughing, it seemed as though he was takeing the piss out of us.

No I don't think it was taking the pi55, I think he perhaps felt comfortable making jokes or whatever because he feels a deal is in place or imminent.

The thought occurred to me that if he had agreed a deal to s**tty, he would mst likely answer 'I'm not' whilst having a huge grin on his face.

Will not be impressed if this long lasting saga results in him going to the enemy

I beliee you Utd fans are reading a little too much into a player who is clearly NOT FLATTERED to be linked; surely his answer of IM NOT tells everything??

Perhaps the Tevez for Sniejder rumours are true and he was taking the piss out of you sum fans?

Surely rather than reading between the lines you should listen to the question and answer??

In every club there is a Transfer 'Saga' going on getiing boring to be honest if Sneijder continues to whinge about money we should move on, A player who really has not had a menton is Moutinho from Porto he would be a perfect fit for the club has been around for a while now and still is only 24 i'd love him at united

I personally think he's a class act, although I know a few who'd say differently.

Can only seeing him moving to Chelsea if its a Premier League club he goes to, I think he'll stay put where he is though.

Cleverley seem to have a good tour. Had a good season with Wigan. Don't be surprised if he starts more this coming season

Cleverley is the answer to our midfield. SAF should give him and Pogba more playing time.

So agree dont waste our money bring the kids up

Just watching City V Inter on Sky and the commentator talking of Sneijder says expects deal to Utd to go through but not before both Chelsea and City have tried to hijack the deal and land Sneijder themselves.

I'm watching the match too, Sneijder playing very deep all most in front of the back 4 , has spent most of the match walking about does, nt look very intrested does he

No he didnt. He said that there is a chance he will come to manchester, and united is more likely, and he then speculated about the chances of city and chelsea hijacking the bid. You have obviously heard one thing and translated it into what you wanted him to say. MU19

Get a grip? im not the one misconstruing things am i? at no point did the commentators say "sneijder will sign for united after chelsea and city have put bids in for him, and only after they have" but i suppose if talksport are talking about it then hey ho it must be right, because talksport gets everything right and is always the first to break accurate news isnt it? ive not once read one decent article from their website and not once have heard anything other then speculation on their radio station. maybe its you that needs get a grip my friend.

United to move for Lassana Diarra, since Fletcher will miss the start of season. Pogba will be involved slightly more as well as Robbie Brady in the league cup

If we do make a move for Lassana Diarra, I would suggest that Fletcher's virus is even more serious than we think. If he was due back by, say, mid-September, I cannot believe that a replacement would be brought in.

Diarra is a defensive midfielder of dubious quality.Fletcher is a box to box midfielder whose sum is better than his parts. Why do you think that if a player is crap at Real , we should buy him at the most glorious club in the World

I doubt this is true. Fletcher has been quoted as saying that he is raring to go and is now at a better weight than he was prior to his illness. I see no evidence that his mystery illness hasn't completely subsided.

Sky Sports News: Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed the latest bout of speculation linking Wesley Sneijder with a move to Manchester United as 'absolute nonsense'. Reports had claimed that United had told Sneijder it was time to make a decision on the club's contract offer, but Ferguson says he has never discussed the Inter Milan midfielder.

So this is telling me that the link that was posted earlier on this site (about if Sneijder wants to come that he must accept the contract offer that SAF has given him) is in the words of Sir Alex Ferguson "absolute nonsense".

I hate to say it but I really cannot see anybody else signing for us in this transfer window. I hope I'm proved wrong. We need a midfielder who is a good playmaker and can win the ball from the opposition.

The sneijder deal is done. If Inter say they want him to play in the cup match against A C Milan next wkend the deal will be announced the week after if they are not using him in the cup match it will be announced later this week. Utd have flown back from America, where do you think Gill and SAF are flying to later today? Dublin, dont think they are after a City or Celtic player do you? Just watch this Transfer play out now.

It's just a ploy from SAF and Sneijder to have Inter accept a lower bid. Inter is desperate for the money so that they can buy Tevez. The lower bid means the higher Sneijder paycheck.

Kind of agree, have been surprised at United's constant link to Sneijder anyway. United are generally a 'growing' club in that they usually don't buy the apparent finished article (i know there's exceptions ). I'd be surprised to see 35 million being spent on a player that'll be 28 next birthday. What further surprises me is the seemingly big difference in what Gill and Fergie are saying to the media. Gill says United are open for business so to speak, yet Fergie has said Cleverly is a 'big chance to start the season'. Is it all mind games?

SAF has only denied that United have made a take it or leave it offer to WS as reported in the Mail. He also said there is nothing new to report This will all come to a head inside the next 2 weeks.

I just can't understand everyone obsession with this injury prone Dutchman. He's a good player, when not injured, but we could get Adryan, Lucas and Ganso for the same kind of amount . Lucas is 18 but a full Brazilian international. Ganso is 21 and a full Brazilian international, he's already as good as WS. Adryan at 16 is one for the future.I like Ravel Morrison but he is very much a youth player, Lucas and Ganso have made the transition to the top table and won't be in prison anytime in the next few years. Or we could get Martin and Sossoko for way less than WS and they are 20 and 21. WS has had one good season at Inter, he couldn't cut it at Real, but was good at Ajax, Ajax didn't have much competition in the poor Dutch league.He has been very good for Holland in World Cups, but except for 2009-2010 he's been injured or ordinary in club football for years. He represents £70m in transfer fee and wages over 4 years and that is just too much for a 25 games a season player. there's Ganso, Martin, Hamsik, Lucas, Gotze and others, all younger, cheaper and better in club football at least.
There no doubt that we need one or ideally two midfielders, but lets forget WS, Modric and Nasri. I only hope SAF is being more imaginative than many on this site, I'm sure he is.

MIK - get gripped mate. The guy is class as is Nasri & Modric and any of them would improve our CM position thats why we are linked with them and thats why we talk about them on here.

How do you know any of these south Americans will perform well when they are relatively untested in a league of higher quality than the Brazilian league?

WS is injury prone and I have doubts that he will make an improvement worth so much dosh in the physical prem. Nasri and Modric are not as good as Hamsik, ganso etc, so therefore overpriced. I do admit that there is a risk when bringing players over from other leagues. That why you get them at 18-24 give them time to adjust and if not, they have a sell on value. What happens if WS plays for us like he did at Real? By the time we sell him on in a season or two we'll have lost a very large chunk of change.Any plan B?

Follow the runners, watch them closely and the passing isn't the special part of their game, it's the runs that are made. The passes are nearly always a 10 yard pass, often not under pressure and they play the way they are facing (which is one of the first things you get taught as a footballer). The players who run in behind the defenders are what make them look so special, the player playing the through ball often has a 5-10 yard gap to aim for which isn't hard to hit. When they play the quick, one touch, two yard passes it does look good, but you can see every top team do that. The problem is, their forwards all have very good acceleration and fantastic football brains so tracking them isn't easy. The passing game is a VERY simple game to play, it just looks special in England because we basically play boot and chase, we need to start at the bottom (grass roots) and encourage the technically brilliant not the biggest/fastest players because players develop strength as they get older and if they have the mental ability then strength will not be necessary just helpful

1 - 0 Nani first half. Welbeck shot saved, dropped to Nani but sliced over. Barca possession but nothing really coming of it. De Gea's made around 3 saves all game if that.

I'm normally havin' ago at Welbeck, But tonight and the last few games he's looked incredible.

Welbeck looks more and more ready to step up.

I was very concerned about him being too lightweight and at times he's looked like he wouldn't cope, However he's a lot more agile than I remembered so he seems to avoid a lot of clashes.

I have been fighting his corner for the past year. I told folk that Welback was a good player and will make it at United. He is only 20 and can improve even further. He holds the ball up well, he is quick, tall, a team player and is a local lad. And some plums on here thought he was going to be sold, including Ed001 who has disappeared.

I'll hold my hands up Syd and say that I thought it would of been possible, now however not a chance, I'm also starting too feel that Diouf maybe on his way, one decent game on this tour for him so I'm not too happy about that.

Back to welbeck though, I still have concerns over his size but I think he'll be valuable when it comes to playing smaller sides like Arsenal, West Brom, Wigan, etc, We've got an interesting season ahead of us hopefully we'll keep our CM to Anderson and Cleverley too.

Really impressed with Young so far, What about you?

The quotes are authentic, those were SAF's remarks. He's trying to have a decision made one way or the other. If Sneijder isn't happy with Man Utd's offer, he should say so. The club will move onto other targets. Besides, Cleverley and Anderson need a chance, they were awesome against Barca tonight. {Ed007's Note -
