I've heard that Shinji Kagawa is available on the transfer market, and Atletico Madrid wants to bid £17m for him.

Is this true?

Believable25 Unbelievable34

£17m is a good price for him but I'd prefer if we use him for one of the Dortmund players.

Hummels?

Or maybe Rues or Gundogan in January/Summer
(Kagawa won't be cup tied)

Would bite there hands off! I had really high hopes for him when he first signed but he hasn't done enough in a United shirt and now it appears there is no room for him.

Napoli president, De Laurentiis, has confirmed that there is some interest from them in Fellaini but mainly because of his hair. Why oh why did he cut it?!

Believable20 Unbelievable3

I hope we keep Felliani. As a luxury and impact player, his value could be second to none. How much was Solskjaer's goal worth in 99, in addition to all the late goals deciding title matches and fa cup tie's. A player that can really change the game, can prove their weight in gold.

Look at what happened in the wolrd cup when the Netherlands faced Mexico. LVG changed his tactics to long balls into the box in the last 10 minutes and they scored 2 late goals to go through. Who better than Felliani to come on and fill the role of target man in such situations?

LVG only needs to give him 20 starts a season - carling cup. fa cup- some small games in the league and big games away from home where a more cautious and defensive system is employed (meaning felliani won't have to run!).

Then he can feature another 10 games from the bench, and get enough playtime through the season to be happy at his involvment.

Since we paid for him already, it would be a waste to let him go now for 10-15 million. Unlike Nanis and Andersons, this is a player that could prove invaluable.

Hope we don't sell him.

He did'nt cut it. It was braided tight to his head

Couple of Chilean newspapers are reporting some positive news regarding Vidal. Apparently his agent presented Juventus with Manchester United's offer believed to be $80million.

Vidal is running the likes of Sneijder, Fabregas, Benzema in terms of being the transfer saga darling of the summer.

Believable4 Unbelievable30

Another transfer window where Woodward spouts off and still no world star signed. If the likes of Reus and Vidal were possibilities how come Utd are the only club in the world who don't reveal their targets every other club talk the talk and walk the walk. Although Herrera and shaw are improvements this Utd squad is worlds away from the top sides in Europe. Would like to think that deals are already done but after previous experience with our transfer fails I just get the feeling that LVG will get to bring a couple of defenders in but that's it. He will have to make do with what he's got and no matter how good a manager he is there is no way that squad can compete in any major competitions. Can't believe we have had another transfer window where we have failed to sign a world class player again.

Agree2 Disagree1

Totally agree jaime j . sick of reading about Vidal and others so called targets. with a supposed bumper transfer fund, we again or should I say woody Woodward is dragging his heels. Prove us all wrong, woody, or better still get David Gill back at the helm. We now have to pay top dollar for a player, were as before, they would walk across broken glass to join us. Well done Moyes and Woodward for making us look complete tosspots.

Napoli are allegedly looking to offer us Dries Mertens in exchange for Fellaini. Personally I think they are very nice to offer us anything for him. Would Mertens be a good addition? Not seen too much of Serie A so don't know tonnes about him but I do know he is 27 and has never really set the world alight.

I wouldn't bother reading into that at all Fresh.

Totally agree, just wanted to know a bit more about Mertens.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have watched him a few times, winger and quite good with his crossing. Better than Nani and valencia in the final delivery but no world beater. The guys we should have gotten is Iturbe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with GCU about Mertens. Also will be interesting to see how Iturbe gets on at Roma because we were linked to him about 2-3 years ago (no surprise) he needs to work on his end product but no doubt he has a lot of potential to become something special.

I have read that we have arranged a press conference for Saturday evening. Possible Vidal announcement! Keep your fingers cross

Believable20 Unbelievable66

Probably about the share sale odd to have it right before a game

Agree2 Disagree1

Probably just woodwoodwood telling us about another great sponsorship deal with a Peruvian llama farm!

Agree3 Disagree2

Yeah it could be about share prices and selling. Vidal has undergone third party medical and utd is happy with it. Around £40 bit would be enough to get our man

Agree2 Disagree2

Since when have a club announced a signing at a press conference? They usually just release a statement and some pics.

Agree1 Disagree0

I heard DM has been hired as a janitor

Diego Maradona?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd expected a big signing to be made just before the shares go on offer to maximize their value.

Agree1 Disagree0

Red seven, if they did that, they would be undervaluing them. Good for existing shareholders and new buyers, bad for the Glazers and overall business model (a bit like the Royal Mail fiasco. but this time, the only people who will benefit is the seller of the shares; The Glazers).

If they wanted more money, they'd raise the share price first (by announcing Vidal for example) and sell at a higher price. If enough people take them up, they'd be laughing.
I can't see there being a lack of uptake for the new shares also (from a business PoV) with the new sponsorships announced and LvG in place.

If they did the offering before Vidal (for example), that would be a very noble step for everyone involved.

Agree0 Disagree0

SB, what type of "offering" are you implying has been made? I have not researched the offering but i'm not sure what your referring to in the shares being undervalued?

The first question to ask is whether the Glazers are increasing the supply of shares in circulation or whether they selling their own shares?

Its bad for existing shareholders if "new shares" are being created. It dilutes the value of the current shares in circulation.

If the Glazers are selling a portion of their own share in the club, it does not make a lot of difference to existing shareholders, - The only thing that will push the stock price up is increasing demand. There is no reason for that to happen at present. The demand for shares that may have come from LVG's arrival and new aquisitions will already be factored into the share price.

I think you are suggesting a fixed price has been set for shares offered? There are many different types of public offerings a company can make. I have not looked into the terms of the offering made here, but generally the function of a financial market is to allow the public and investors to determine the price a company or asset is worth, which, should the Glazers find acceptable, will then result in the sale of the stock.

Assuming the shares have been "floated, " rather than set at a fixed price, I find Redseven's point interesting.

At the present moment, sentiment will be more significant than the 40 odd million that comes off the balance sheet from a "Vidal" like signature.

If United are capable of challenging for the league title, and possibly the champions league, future returns will be much greater than if we were to simply return to the top 4.

The question really is, - will investors believe the signature of Vidal is enough for United to return to the top? I actually think it may do.

A show of attracting a 1st class player, and the plugging of a problem area with one of the worlds best midfielders will make United a much greater threat to the worlds top teams in my opinion. I think a major signing in midfield would result in the value of Manchester United increasing.
