Love the mail's story about Arsenal planning a raid of German league players, laughed at all of it. Lewandowski, Gotze and bender ( lewerkusen ) for 70 mill!
But on a serious note how much would it take for United to get Gotze and Lewandowski? 50 million? And is it a serious possibility or just a dream?
Nat {Ed004's Note - Probably just a dream but I would sell Rooney to fund that haha}

Hi all. Apparently Tiago (Barca) is thinking about leaving as he isn't getting enough of a look in and wants to play to ensure he goes to Brasil in 14. His father has come out with some pointed comments.

We have apparently been interested in the past. Eds any chance of him moving? If so where would we feature, and do we still have interest?

Red Bear {Ed002's Note - I have no knowledge of ant current interest from MU.}

Believable7 Unbelievable7

Don't think he's good enough, yet. Hasn't proven himself. Wouldn't spend more than 15mil but he's got a clause for 25mil.

I'd love him at United! He had an incredibly high pass success rate last season!

Agree0 Disagree0

We are not a club that buys proven players. We spot talent no matter what age and develop it. Apart from RVP and Cantona we never buy established players. Alcantara is one of the most talented footballers in the world. Pep didn't use him as much because he is a very adventurous player and doesn't fit in with the keep ball methods as well as the others at Barca. He would be perfect for us, we are a very adventurous team.

If he was put up for sale every major club in europe would be in for him including us SAF has said before he really likes the player so it could happen there are a few at barca that will want out this season that would all improve our squad. Katef

Agree0 Disagree0

He is an outstanding player, and I can believe the reasoning. Anderson & Scholes out, Strootman & Thiago in would be ideal. We would then have 4 good quality CM's in Strootman, Carrick, Thiago & Cleverly with Fletcher & Giggs coming in at times. This would enable Powell go out on loan which I think is the plan for next season. An EPL loan like Cleverly, Evans or Welbeck had would do him a power of good.

Agree0 Disagree1

Im with you fresh! fantastic if we can sort that out.

not saying he's not good (buttner) but not man unt level, remember was a winger and it shows bur more one footed valancia, any can say he passed a ball with his right foot would be lying - not talking about shot. anyone think he will be here next year ed2 {Ed002's Note - I saw him as a temporary solution as Willems was not deemed ready at the time.}

Believable6 Unbelievable22

Do you think we could return for Willems this summer then Ed002?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Any idea if we are still targeting a LB and if so who then?

Thanks,

rpc

So what about Valencia and young? Did u ever see their left foot! Apart from standing on it!
Nomidfield

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know what people's problems are with buttner? We buy kagawa and because he's not been as good as people expected everyone is like aww it's his first season give him a break next season he will be good! It's also buttners first season, not had as many opportunities and is a young lad! And from what I've seen of him works 100x harder than Evra and looks a much more promising player! Some people need to give him a break! Yesterday he played well and so what if he doesn't use his weak foot? Oh apart from that strike he had with his right foot? Get a grip! Look at smalling! He dances around the ball just so he doesn't have to touch it with his left foot! But he's still a great cb!

Agree1 Disagree0

Just a quick thing about Buttner: he may have been a winger before, but he was turned into a left back at the same age as Evra was turned from a striker into a left back, also when he was 23 Evra had just been selected in the preliminary squad, but omitted from the final 23 for euro 2004 and the exact same thing happened at the same age to Buttner last summer.
I know these are just coincidences, but it does show that Buttner still has time on his side to turn into a very good LB, and I think we would all admit that on yesterdays showing he is improving

Jaxer

(ps I don't personally think he will turn into a 1st choice, but I'm willing to support him and give him the benefit of the doubt whilst we are still looking for someone who will)

Agree0 Disagree0

Buttner was superb yesterday. He has a big future at the club.
PerthDave

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Buttner definitely has a future at United. He's got a thunder bolt strike with his left and like others have said he's got a fantastic work rate, he was sprinting about the pitch right upto the 90th minute and beyond against Sunderland. Something you would not see from Evra. Give him a couple of seasons at least before you slate him!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that he was one of our best players against Sunderland.

Agree1 Disagree0

Roberto Carlos never had a right foot, neither does the likes of ashley cole or Leighton baines. Probably the stupidest comment iv heard in the world. because giggsy has no right foot does that mean he has always been a crap player lol? Wise up

Did anyone else hear Niall Quinn say Sunderland were willing to pay up to £12m for J Evans before he'd even played a game for United? That's crazy money but I'm so glad we kept hold of him. He's been great this season and has improved to no end over the last 2 years. When he came on today he looked as composed as usual. I'm really hoping Rio stays for 1 more year and we don't sign Garay as I feel there's nobody better to take over from Rio than Evans ATM.

Next year I'd have Vidic & Evans as 1st choice with Jones & Smalling as younger understudies, with Rio as additional cover.

Believable20 Unbelievable8

Evans gets better as he matures, I too think he is a top Defender with every chance of going on to be united legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Evans would be top class a few seasons back, but then he faded and even now he's only just getting back to that level of performance. My concern is whether he will maintain it or not.

Agree1 Disagree0

Evans is a continental type defender. Brilliant on the ball and brilliant passer left or right footed. He is a little naive sometimes though and needs to work on his positioning because that is what let's him down too often. There's no better person than Rio to learn off in that sense though and that could be why he has partnered Rio a lot in the last few seasons. Great talent and long may he stay at united, his legend status will depend on how Smalling and Jones develop though and I think they are the future long term partnership for our defense, SAF has said that himself in fact.
