I find it very hard to understand how a player (sahin) that cost £8m and spent most of the season on the bench has managed to more than double his value to £18+. I'm not saying he isn't good and I'd love to see him at OT but, it's ridiculous if true that RM would expect in the region of £20m for him

He was in the last year of his contract when he signed for madrid

So is RVP now and he's at the back end of his career but, that doesn't seem to be effecting his valuation

Irrespective of appearances its apparent what in this climate you could easily quote for the player. Plus its Real Madrid.....we just got Kagawa for £12million which was great because of his contract situation. He is easily a £25millon player at least.......so

If being in his last year of contract was the only reason then that would mean kagawa would technically be valued at around 38 million.

If Nani to Madrid is possible and true... Wouldn't mind a deal of close to £25 million + Nuri Sahin.

Believable28
Unbelievable9
I do not think wed get anywhere near that i think Sahin's value is so variable its mad Madrid will probably want £15million for him sand Nani is worth approx £30million i think so maybe £15million and Sahin or Khedira.
Agree1

Think you're going to be disappointed fearny. Sahin is off to Arsenal
Agree1

Its not confirmed to arsenal sahin may want a permanent move now and linking up with kagawa and lewandowski in12 month if ya believe the rumours! 23m max for nani id say
Agree0
Disagree0
Seriously so 25 mil plus Sahins worth of around 18mil so 43 mil for nani. Maybe a straight swap deal would be more viable

Marco Branca, the technical director Inter Milan sent to Brazil, returned today and there are no announced plans for him to return. Manchester United are thought to still have representatives in the country and Sao Paulo vice president, Jesus Lopes, was quoted earlier by Lancenet as saying "I was with Juvenal yesterday (Wednesday) and today (Thursday). Just to sit down to negotiate with Manchester, but we were not satisfied with the amounts."

Is anyone else wondering why United haven't made a bid yet for Izaguirre?

Ed07.. you can not see us putting in a cheeky bid for both then ?
oxred {Ed007's Note - As much as I would like it to happenI doubt it mate, I can handle CFC players taking a wee sideway step to sign for Utd. Arsenal are ready to bid for Wanyama and nobody has approached the club officially over Izaguirre.}

But with Fabio going out on loan for a season (who Fergie still has high hopes for) will he buy someone to challenge the aging and seemingly more inconsistent Evra! I hope he does plump for Izzy, Seen him play and i think he is better defensively than Evra, Positionally and Work Rate. I know there is a month left in the transfer window but I assumed Fergie would move fast to get this deal done.
P.S Would like to see Wanyama at United also as i believe he could fulfill his potential and become World Class!

Have Manchester United been in contact with Madrid regarding Nuri Sahin? Given Sir Alex's relatively good relationship with Mourinho would we stand a better chance of signing him? I think given he has played alongside Kagawa in his Dortmund days he could be a real coup - especially on a loan.
Adz
Believable18

Unfortunately managers relationships don't get better deals. They only make it easier in mutually attractive deals between teams. I.e loan signings.
Dan
Agree0

They may not get better deals but at least a chance exists, it's nonsense to suggest good relations don't help - look at all the ex united players at Sunderland !
Agree1

Sahin would be ideal, both talent and price-wise. I dont think that excuses not finishing moves for Lucas or RVP, but it is a position that was going to need reinforcement (beyond Powell and Petrucci) after this season anyways. Take him on loan, with a set amount for a full transfer, give him a year with scholes alongside and then determine if he's worth the money as a replacement. Ironically, United could look like Dortmund from two years ago. Kagawa, Sahin, reported interest in Lewandowski, Goetze, Hummels, etc. What a quality squad that was/is.....-KG

Ed2- do you we will sign Moura or do think it will be a nearly 1 again!
PBMUFC {Ed002's Note - The situation with Lucas Moura is very complicated and it could drag out all summer and come to nothing. Chelsea made two bids earlier in the year and Inter also ma de a bid in January. Real Madrid looked to a deal involving another player going in exchange but that came to nothing. His agent would prefer a part ownership deal with Inter. Manchester United remain interested in the player but probably not at a price that is acceptable to Sao Paulo as we have seen. Inter have made a further bid and will return with a player plus cash option (although Coutinho has stated he does not want to be included in the deal). Anzhi have made one bid but Iam told the player would never agree a move to Moscow (where their players are based). I would not discount any of the clubs, nor would I discount him staying until the end of the year and discussions starting again in January. The feeling from someone in Brazil is that he thinks that Manchester United will probably not make any further offer for Lucas Moura as they feel they have already bid to the best value of the player. He cannot be certain there will be no higher bids but he can be certain that if there are then the club would be paying over the odds for the player. Chelsea ended up in the same position.
Furthermore, there were discussions in Colorado in mid July which he was involved with surrounded a part ownership deal that would see the player move to Italy for two years at some point and then a full buy out of his rights resulting in either a sale or perhaps a move to the part owning club. It was considered to be impractical. I have not really explained this but Inter also have an effective advantage financially as they are not bidding for the same thing as Manchester United. I really don't want to get in to the finances too much as I have watched with amusement all day as folks have tried to understand simple math like floundering beached whales.}

All this talk about Moura already signing is complete nonsense. Chelsea completed Oscar deal while at olympics so why would there be a need to delay the announcement.
ED2 has also repeatedly said ideally a deal would be done with Inter {Ed002's Note - The Oscar deal was done before the Olympics started. It is not the Olympics stopping the Moura deal completing.}

Mourinho says Sahin can leave this month if he so chooses. I think it would be best to get him on a season long loan. He seems to be a little injury prone and a loan would see how he fairs against the much more physical EPL. If United do decide to purchase him i think it would be a massive gamble. With Arsenal sniffing at the player for a season long loan i think it would be worth a shot if we offered a season long loan with an option to buy.
What you guys think?
James.

I would buy him and reunite him with Kagawa in midfield. Cleverley, Sahin and Kagawa would be some midfield three.

I would do exactly the same thing as Sydney says. I rate Sahin very very high! Complete midfielder, players exactly for Man utd way. Can tackle, beautiful long and short pass, creates and has nice both feet. More deep lying midfield, which we need, if he stays fit I think he can challenge Carrick. Loan or buy, if fit he will be perfect for Us.

NEWS UPDATE:
SAO PAULO REJECT MOURA-TO INTER NEWS: Only united have held negotations with Moura.
SAHIN A TARGET: Fergie wants him on permanent deal, Arsenal want him on loan, likely to go to Arsenal unless we stump up a large bid.
BANES A NO-GO: He was never a target, too old. Only four year gap with Evra.
LEFT-BACK GUARANTEED: Fergie has come out to say we WILL sign a left back.
40MILLION PLUS IN SPENDING: According to reports, we will spend 40m+ this month. LB expected along with another signing.
VAN PERSIE 50/50: Too many if's on this player. May end up back at Emirates. Juve in charge of any deal. Likelihood of happening - 5%
Believable20

How can VAN PERSIE 50/50 be 5%?
Agree1

Baines too old? You cant by every player as a youngster and have them hampering each others development. If we buy Willems or similar then what is the point in having Fabio and Blackett? We need an older defender who wont block these players development! People throw a blanket only buy young players statement without having a clue of how it will affect the team!
Dan
Agree0
Disagree0
Don't know if I'm reading it wrong, but it seems they are saying it's a TOTAL of 40 mil. Which means around 25-30 mil left, if you take into account $$$ outgoing players.
So, straight up, I'd say forget Lucas, unless those figures being touted are ridiculous. Or it's just Lucas.
Most likely a young left back for 12-ish, and ??
No established midfielder like Moutinho/Sahin either for that sort of money.

I hope it includes a player swap. I'd have pretty much anyone in Real Madrids squad. I know Fergie is a fan of Marcelo (he's said it a few times, and at one point I'm sure we were looking at him), and apparently we're trying to sign Brazil's 2014 world cup team so it'd make sense as we need a left-back. If we swapped Nani for Marcelo and Sahin I'd be ecstatic. I hate Nani's miserable face.

Fergie has basically said definitely one more, and if he can get the other then two, he seemed pretty sure about the first one, and seen as though it's not happened yet it must be Lucas as he's at the olympics! the second is anyones guess, but I don't think it's Baines, too old for his price tag and quality, but i'd love to see Sahin come in on loan, give us another season to line up real world class players for Scholes and Giggs.
