Would people be surprised if Jones became England captain or do you think it is still too early. I don't think it should be Gerrard or Lampard as they are now too old in my opinion. Aside from Jones I could also see Parker or Hart getting it. What do you lot think?

Believable7 Unbelievable22

Jones is 19 so impossible he becomes captain maybe if he was captain of united, rooney has better chance

Agree0 Disagree0

It'll be offered to one of the old gaurd(Gerrard, Lampard, Rio or Cashley), then who's succeed them will be down to the new manager. It'll be a short term thing as Capello is only here short term.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

It's more likely to go to Rooney than Jones haha!

Could either be Hart, Rio might get asked again.. Who knows.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Jones is not ready! he has only played a few games. It will more than likely go to Gerrard but i'd like to see Parker get the armband.

Agree0 Disagree0

You mentioned Gerrard and Lampard being too old... Parker is the same age as Gerrard...

Jones is probably too young at the moment though in a few years when Gerrard (who will most probably be offered it) retires from internationals, then he may be offered it.. or Rooney

Rio has ruled himself out of the running FYI

=v1=

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I hate him I think it'll be Ashley cole just because he plays every week if it isn't Gerrard , Rooney for sure if he wasn't suspended

Agree0 Disagree0

Rio hasn't ruled himself out, he just said he doesn't bother him what happens with the captaincy..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Jones is still 1-2 years off being first-choice for England/Utd, let alone being captain. Right now, Downing has a better chance of being captain than Jones. It has to be Rooney for me

Agree0 Disagree0

I cant see it going to cashly as i am not sure he will even be in the starting 11 come summer, i think baines will be the lb this summer, he has certainly deserved it more than cole has

Agree0 Disagree0

It'll either be Hart or Johnson/Lescott IMO. The point is the guy should be a leader by default.

IBleedBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you serious? when people say jones is going to be a future united and england captain, they mean probably five years from now or something like that. even so, these are people's opinions, the future managers may have there own plans.
Here is a list of players that will currently be ahead of jones for england captaincy:
Lampard, Ferdy, gerrad, rooney, cole, young, cahill, hart, parker, barry, milner, bent e.t.c.
Give the kid abit more time, he has'nt even established a place in united's starting 11 yet.

Millz

Agree0 Disagree0

Jones lol, Parker is 32 this year lol and Rooney has a questionable tempermant and has ruled himself out with his on and off field "antics". Ballon.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Rooney Could be Englands captain in the future.. If there's any English player that wants success for England it's Wazza, his red card was down to venting his frustration with the poor performance of the team that day. Rooney is inspirational, even to some of the older players because he's achieved so much from such a young age for such a big club. I think after his last red card and everything that happened with it, he wont be getting anymore like it. I'd like to see Wayne captain england anyway..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

How about Rooney

Agree0 Disagree0

Rio HAS ruled himself out of the running for captaincy in order to concentrate on his United duties.
Agree that Jones is too young, but in the future he's a definite candidate.
I don't care who gets the Ingurland cpataincy, they'll be crap whoever it is.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Ingurland' ?! Can't even spell the name of the country where football originates from.. Tut.

I would like Rooney but i can honestly see it being given to Hart, he's always good, always shouting at players making his thoughts known and has quite a lot of experience playin top level football.

Ozwald

New manager after euros will prob change captain do need short term one

please people stop thinking about hazard. even if he said he wil play in premier league next season. thats not us. we wil never pay money demanded by its club-- 35m is evaluation i guess. most obvious destinations are city and chelsea only.. i can bet anything that next year he will play from one of this two if he is really in EPL.
rodio17

Believable17 Unbelievable5

That's some awful spelling and grammar right there... Either way, Chelsea will be favourites, but I'd assume United are second?

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know if it's me but I can't see any spelling mistakes grammar maybe but Percy stop being so picky you know what he meant you seem to have a superiority complex so please stop being a kn#b

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that the grammar and punctuation isnt good but this is a football rumours site not an English language forum. Hazard would be an amazing signing but I can't see ferguson spending that sort of money on just the one player. We are joint top of the league on a so called weakest united team ever. Trust fergies judgement as its been pretty sound over the last 25 years. I'm sure midfield will be strengthened in the summer with names out of the blue. Cleverley will be a stronger player even with the injuries. Things don't look too bleak do they?... Just look at the rest of the league barring tottenham and man city.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think man utd will go in for him. his age and potential being the main reason. It is different paying big money for a sneijder or modric cause you will never recoup that money in their resell value. As for hazard, he is young, pay 35million for him get 3/4 good seasons out of him, then either one of two things will happen madrid will probably come calling and pay 50 plus million for him or else he declares his love for the club and stays with us another 6/7 seasons. if he stays nearly 9 seasons that works out at only roughly 4 million a year for his services( obv i havent included wages) which is a great deal for an outstanding player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont waste your time guys... we dont have money... to buy a quality player.. simply we are beggers

Agree0 Disagree0

He has stated a desire to play for Liverpool, so I'd forget about him if I was you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi guys,

maybe hazard will go to cfc or mcfc but i strongly beleive we will try to get him. well worth the price tag + hardly any other top players available

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless city want to offload the likes of nasri (which I doubt, but that would be good news for utd) I really think they have enough options especially with the likes of Pizarro (diff kind of player but still) coming in.
Realistically this leaves Chelsea and united; Chelsea are not the team of a few years ago and are supposedly trying to introduce a sustainable wage structure as theyre now a big club and don't need to pay over the odds like city to attract top players. That said, it doesn't exclude them from the race.
On the other hand, if you think about it united need a player like hazard and he certainly fits the bill - young and very versatile who can play in the middle, up front and out wide. Would certainly have that resale value in a few years if he decides to leave as well. With a supposed overhaul of the squad happening in the summer, surely it looks promising?

cmd

Agree0 Disagree0

If we could bring in, say Shaqiri for £15m AND Erikssen for £20m I'd take that over JUST Hazard for £35m all day long.....that way we would have added a nautral left footed wide player and creative midfied player in one go...

Imagine in a couple of years having these options in CM - Pogba, Tunnicliffe, Fletcher, Cleverly, Erikssen & Anderson. And these options on the wings - Nani, Valencia, Shaqiri & Young

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

If the juice is worth the squeeze we will dish out the readies....
Not sure if the comment has been previously made, but Shaqiri looks a bit more likely considering we just bought a youngster from his country...
I think a bid could well be on the cards.

Sir Alex Ferguson may lose another of his youngsters after defender Ezekiel Fryers turned down a new deal worth a basic £1,500 per week.
Fryers, 19, asked his advisers to find him a move ahead of the transfer deadline.

Believable4 Unbelievable26

I struggle to believe that Fryers, a player with potential that has already made first team appearances, was offered a poultry £1,500 per week. Maybe add on another 0.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Not to mention hasn't the deadline passed 2 days ago! Excluding Russia/Brazil etc

Agree0 Disagree0

I know the ed is not a big fan of twitter, but Fryers has twittered about 10 mins ago saying " why is everyone believing what they read.... i havent rejected the contract!

Papertalk just like i said yesterday, press scare mongering as they have no morrison to write about now. we have so many exciting youngsters coming through at the minute, not had this many since beckham/scholes/butt/nevilles.
Jenny

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Jenny - its all crap, boring journalism. He like Pogba knows that they are in the plans for the near future, they will both sign new deals. I'm sure when they sign new deals stories about Petrucci, Januzaj or some other player will come up.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

I would think he may be on that amount now, If thats what he was offered it would be an insult to the player. Jenny's got it right here, journo's with nothing better to make up.... HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Jenny. Exciting times ahead IMO! Pogba & Fryers will sign. Hopefully Keane & Tunnicliffe will be tied down over the next months/year.

Surely Fryers would be offered £15,000 anyway not £1,500?!

Anyone with an update on Tunnicliffe? Is he due back at the end of February, or the end or the season?

J Bones.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

He will stay at Posh til the end of the season and I expect a EPL team to try and get him on loan sometime next season, perhaps Championship til Christmas, then somewhere like Wigan, Wolves or West Ham after Christmas? Depends on who stays up I guess. Tunnicliffe will go to the preseason tour and be a big part of our squad in 2013/14 season. He is so versatile.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

End of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Last I heard the deal was until the end of February. So I assume that the situation has changed and I didn't notice it?

TM

Agree0 Disagree0

He'll either go on loan to a Premiership club next season or stay with the first team. Won't go to the Championship again, Fergie's expecting big things from him.

rpc

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks. J Bones.

Agree0 Disagree0

TM, I believe the loan deal was extended in the last month or so

I agree with rpc, next year he should be ready for a Prem loan IMO, if not ready for our 1st team

Has anyone actually heard anything solid on Ross Barkley? Because all I know is that his name popped up in the press a couple of months ago, there were a few days of crazy prices and silly stories and now two months later we all seem to be chatting about it like it's a dead cert, or he's SAF's first choice.

Have I missed something? Has SAF or anyone at United confirmed this interest, or have we just forgotten that this was a story started by the papers and over a couple of months it has slowly seeped into our heads as a reality?

Joe

Believable5 Unbelievable4

You make a good point, I think since the Rooney signing and the Rodwell interest and now Gibbo going the other way, we just tend to assume that any talented youngster from Everton will end up at OT!

Only time will tell I guess
