Is it just me or would sigursson, the lad on loan at swansea would be a great signing for united, not just because he scored 2 today he's been class since he came back to england and he was the stand out payer when at reading and he's doing it in the prem now, wouldnt cost a lot either, less than 10M?what does everyone think?

Believable17 Unbelievable7

I would totally agree with you, some people mentioned his name a year or so ago as someone whi might be worth taking a punt on. Thats 3 goals and 3 assists in just five league apperances for Swansea now, thats a great record for anyone and he puts the work in. Him along side Cleverley could work very well, like the way it worked with Anderson at the start of the season but with more cutting edge and work rate. I'd be pretty pleased to see him sign.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

When looking at Swansea, I can't look past Joe Allen and Nathan Dyer.

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should invest in sigardsson!

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Leon Brittain? Best pass completion rate in the league!

Agree0 Disagree0

He's only about 22 aswell, great signing in my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

There was the rumour that we were looking at him when at Hoffenheim last season, so there's always the possiblility we could take a punt.

Alex Song of Arsenal is the type of player united need, only 24 and proven in the premiership, I suppose he wouldnt be too costly either. What ya reckon ed? {Ed007's Note - No thanks, not for me.}

Believable6 Unbelievable27

I actually think he is decent.

UnitedForever

Agree0 Disagree0

He's developed into a pretty solid player, but I don't think United would have a chance of getting him.

Ruudinthemood

Agree0 Disagree0

Average IMO.

G.A.G.U.S

Agree0 Disagree0

Not for you Ed, reasons?? Let's be realistic here, I'd like Martinez, Goetze,etc but will SAF be given the funds? In my opinion he's got good strength and does a good job protecting the back four, also who set up RVP today, and not for the first time this season! {Ed007's Note - I'd prefer James McCarthy.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex Song is a good player, while a lot of people think that it is RVP carrying the Arsenal Song is a player that sticks out almost every game he plays for them, i'm admirer for sure but he definitely wont move to MUFC.

Ozwald {Ed001's Note - the same Song that goes missing constantly and gives the ball away regularly? He is awful, one of their weakest links, that is why Arteta always ends up playing so deep, to cover for him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Y nt nigel djong then same sort of player and an absalute beast at tackling

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with Ed on tHis won.he isn't great!gives the ball away a lot and the chap cannot tackle gives away an awful lot of free kicks.not any better than carrick I'm afraid and I'm not of fan of carrick as adefensive midfielder!the type dm player we need is Scot Parker but that ain't gonna happen.

SuperRed

Agree0 Disagree0

Song isn't a natural defensive midfielder, his positioning is quite poor and so to is his tackling. But you see he does have great vision, you cannot deny that! His passes are always perfectly weighted. Arsenal need a proper Anchorman who gets pleasure from making a good clean tackle and breaking up play. Song isn't this type of player which is why i feel he's being played out of position. He is a player that naturally likes to attack, in a similar way Patrice Evra sometimes forgets he's a LB and not a LW! I know when he was younger he used to play as a CB but i think he should be played further forward because his vision and passing is great. He has qualities, just not the right ones for the position he plays.

Interesting quote i found from Wenger: “First of all, if you asked Alex, ‘do you want to attack or defend?’, he would say attack,”
“He is naturally a guy who tends to go forward and he always had good vision."

Therefore my opinion is that he's a good player because he has decent qualities, just being played too far back.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

And 'SuperRed' i don't even know what to say to you if you think Carrick isn't good at being a a defensive mid.. Deary me!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Song's not even as good as the midfielders we have.

Also, I don't understand the shouts for James McCarthy. Doesn't look anything special to me, although I have only seen him on MOTD and the occaisonal live game on Sky.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oswald, carrick is almost good at passing from the dm position, but he can't defend, his tackling the majority of the time is poor.now Roy Keane he was a top defensive midfielder.carrick v Keane.roy would be my choice all day long.i rest my case.

Frank Lampard will be looked at by us in the summer If things get worse at Chelsea and his relationship with management breaks down entirely

Believable2 Unbelievable31

Why? I'd rather keep Scholes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't surprise me as a cheap option

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want him anywhere near this club, he and others in the Chelsea team undermine every manager they have....
HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

Why?
We don't need an ageing primadonna to come in and upset the balance in the squad.
Lampard has been past it for years....hence him not getting in the Chelsea team half the time.
Best thing they could do would be to offload Terry, Cole and Lampard. They're holding Chelsea back, why would we want any of that lot?
I shudder at the idea....

Fat frank, no ta....

Just been looking at the fixtures, I'm sure somebody has already post about this but I think it is great news worth re-posting!

If we do well tomorrow, I think we have to be favourites to win the league.

City still have to visit Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Stoke, Swansea and Norwich - all hard places to go. You have to think they'll drop some point along the way.

Where as we have many more home games, including teams like QPR, Wolves, Fulham and Blackburn.

Of course I understand that none of these results are a given, and if we have learnt anything from that 2-3 Blackburn home defeat it's that you cannot think you've already won the game before it has begun.

I am however simply saying that if you look at the games to come, I think our run is far more favourable than City's. Their games really will test their metal.

This is all good news..

Joe

Believable20 Unbelievable1

Joe apart from Wolves being away you could also point out that we also have Villa Swansea and West Brom at home and Wigan Blackburn away
ARB

Agree0 Disagree0

City have already visited chelsea where they were beaten 2-1.

Do you think that Berbatov will be here next year? SAF said that he would be and that a one year extension has been done.

I think his presence in the squad is invaluable as he is a classly player (even if his work rate isn't good). He is also a good option to have while we give more chances to the likes of Macheda next season.

If some of the younger players flop then we have great depth if Berbatov is in the squad.

UnitedForever

Believable6 Unbelievable8

I really hope not. Not a player i agreed with signing, backed him after all this "he's the next cantona" rubbish, didn't work out. Now's he's just taking up wages that could be better spent elsewhere. I also don't think Macheda will still be here either.

Agree0 Disagree0

One of the most technically gifted players in the Prem at the moment but does'nt suit our play. Also on around 90 to 100k a week to sit on the bench aint good business in my opinion....
HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope not, theres 100k of wages there every week that we could be giving to a player who actually improves the team
SC

Agree0 Disagree0

Berbatov will be gone in the summer, well at least I hope he will.just coz fergie says he he will be here doesn't mean he will.Thats just Fergie playin mind games!Berbatov has become massively out of favour, partly to do with the development of welbeck and chicarito.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesnt fit the way we play. Every time he gets the ball going forward he breaks the flow and moentum and engages in his own little private game of 'see if you can get the ball off me' while the opposition get back in formation.
Could do great in italy but hes just not suited to us.

I certainly think that we will sign a defender in summer, i initially thought it was to be Benatia. But what are people's thoughts?

Would you rather have Benatia or Dede? They seem to be the two that we are linked to most in the press and if the stories are true then which would you prefer to see? Both look pretty solid to me.

Benatia is my first choice i think.

UnitedForever

Believable0 Unbelievable6

I'd have vertonghen.

TRUMORS

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm also perhaps thinking Azpilicueta who we have scouted for a long time, he is versatile at full back which is an area that we constistently have injuries in.

UnitedForever

Agree0 Disagree0

Benatia has a broken ankle. Out long term so forget it

Did anyone else notice the amount of praise SAF has for Modric? He goes out of the way to mention him all the time. It might be wishful thinking on my part since Modric would be my first choice midfield signing, but i really do think there is something going on there.

REDFAITH

There is something going on, we are definately all in for him this coming summer window, I've heard he's pushing for a move to us. Ancelotti at PSG want him also though.

Supasub

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Obviously he'd mention Modric a lot, he's the reason Spurs are doing so well this season. The thing that caught my eye was that he said "I can see why people relate Modric to Scholes", he went on to say they both have the same qualities in the way they're consistent passers able to control the tempo of the game.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

He talked him up all last year as well, but we never made a move for him last summer

manchester united are set to offload anderson, scholes, berbatov and owen to make way for sneijier gaitan who are set to join united

Believable1 Unbelievable42

Sneijder based on the games i have seen this season isn't good enough. Poor in every game, injury prone, we missed out big time there ;) what a waste of money he would have been.

And Gaitan hasn't impressed either, would be extremely disappointed with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder is NOT coming to United. Why can't people understand this?

Percy

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson is going nowhere, Fergie loves him.

Jake

Agree0 Disagree0

FM Fever returns......again

Agree0 Disagree0

Okay while Sneijder isn't coming to United, he isn't an awful player! I think what you're seeing this year is one of the most naturally gifted playmakers has lost all motivation after messing up a potential transfer. I don't wanna see anyone say he's not good enough! Form is temporary, class is permanent. Wesley Sneijder has always been something special, i don't think i've actually seen many other midfielders use so many different techniques for kicking a ball.

Anderson could move on depending on the amount offered. The thing with Anderson is that he never really has much influence on the pitch, he's a good squad player but never produces heaps of creative play does he? BUT he does have a big influence off the pitch, really good character.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Scholes is going to stay for another season, we would get the same amount of games out of scholes as we would with sneijder plus scholes is by far the better player, no need for sneijder.

Agree0 Disagree0

I notice you dont state your name or sign off your post's, im just going to refer to you as deluded.

Anon

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder is a class act , just having a bad season for many reasons , inter in general are having a bad season.
i love the way people jump on the bad wagon of injury prone it was mentioned on here during the summer , but he has averaged as many league games as rooney over the last 4 year.
for me on his day his one of the best players at what he does in the world.
his also been the main man for for a very good holland team for a number of years.
unfortunately i cant see him coming to united which is a shame cos his better than anything we have got
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

He was good at Ajax, didn;t really stand out that much for me at RM, maybe overshadowed by too many other big names? At Inter he has had one good season and the rest have bene nothing special. He is injury prone no matter what you say and for the money touted around in terms of fee and wages i'd rather have someone who played in almost every game.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was good at ajax , and ok at madrid.
you say he had one good season at inter, well he has only been there for 2 full seasons and he has played well in both of them .
as for injury prone he has averaged 38 games a season for club since he broke into the ajax team, which i think is ok
as for money touted if fergy was ready to pay 30+ as reported i think that tells you a lot

Does anyone know anything about the Brazilian center back Dede? He's 23, plays for Vasco da Gama, and the Daily Mail's linking him to United, as well as Benfica.

It doesn't seem to be reliable at all, but it has me a little curious. It's seems that he's getting rave reviews in Brazil, but I've never seen him play. Has anyone watched this player before?

Ruudinthemood

Believable4 Unbelievable4

I have seen him a few times and looks a good ball playing centre back quick attacking quite simillar to rio, i wouldnt mind him at united {Ed002's Note - Both Milan clubs, Juventus, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, Benfica and Roma have shown an interest in Dede.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Imagine if we got dede & dodo in the back four.
Too much coffee this morning.
Supasub

Agree0 Disagree0

Any ideas on likely fee? I could see him in Portugal first thena big move.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing at all like rio so I'm guessing you never seen him he's a rock at the back more like vidic not as good but a lot of potential there how ever I can see him heading to barcelona they have had scouts watching him recently

Agree0 Disagree0

"a good ball playing centre back quick attacking quite simillar to rio"

in what way at all is that similar to rio?

Anon

Agree0 Disagree0

Iv seen him regular he is going to be a world class player he got an average of a goal every 3 games for a centre back I think if anyone would like to correct me feel free lol ,, he is Betta thn all our cb apart from vidic and he can play
