hi ed's, a few weeks back I seem to remember you mentioning that utd and a few other clubs were interested in jordie classie, is interest in him still there? Also has anything changed with regards to Memphis Depay? thanks for your time.

Believable3 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - Forget Depay - he will move elsewhere, perhaps as early as this week.}

Thats a bit of a quick change from your reply on the earlier post eds.
Depay is a genuine option?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It should have said Clasie.}

Sorry eds. but is it clasie that's a genuine option? Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Depay.}

Is there any truth in depay moving to Milan after he was spotted there taking pictures with fans whilst wearing a Milan shirt?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Give me a break.}

Hi Ed,

I know there is some interest in Depay, but has that gone up in recent times? LVG may be looking for a forward, that's why we were in for Di Maria. Is Depay a genuine option? I think he would replace Nani and Young in a sense that Young will now be a wing back.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Depay is a genuine option.}

Has things changed in the last few hours because on the post above you said he will go elsewhere this week?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I meant Clasie will go elsewhere - not Depay.}

Thanks ed.

Fellaini could be having a medical as early as today ahead of a loan move to Napoli. What do people make of this if true?

Believable28 Unbelievable11

He must be gutted, brought to the club, slated my everyone then shipped out before he evens meets the manager, got to feel sorry for him

It makes sense to me in management terms: he symbolises last season, the previous manager, the Club's failed window, direct physical football. I'd get rid if it were me, even if I had to take the financial hit on the chin

Agree2 Disagree0

I don't really see the point of a loan. He isn't some youngster who is after big game experience. We know his style, his capabilities. Playing in a slow average league is not going to improve him for Premier League games. Only reason i'd do this is if Napoli were to pay us a fee at the end to take him on a permanent, say £12-£15m but then why wait a year?

Agree2 Disagree0

Id wish we could get a fee for him. Were already short in the midfield and we can't afford many to go. Hopefully ŵe can get 2 mids in

Agree3 Disagree0

Syd I was thinking this would be because we will bring another midfield in but now I am resig ed to believe that.

I rather we keep fellaini and have him cover for any injuries or rotate with players who are tired.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are paying half his wages then there is very little value to us in doing this. We would be paying 50k per week for someone not even at the club.

I'd of hung on to him to see if anyone came in to buy him and if not would prefer him to be a part of the playing squad (not starting).

Wouldn't like to jump to conclusions but I doubt we would loan him out without 'cover' already pre-arranged.

Wonder who the cover could be.?

Agree0 Disagree0

As long as we buy in quality that's all well and good

Any first team players that are going, I would prefer to sell than loan but if they cannot find a buyer they have no choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you're half right Covey. We only have Herrera, Carrick (injured), Fletcher and Cleverley if we get rid of him. Personally I'd keep him rather than loan him if we can't sell him. At the end of the day if we get terrible injuries he is someone that is actually a midfielder rather than having to convert someone - I think LVG is going to look inwards to the youth academy though where possible. Also Kagawa will be taught how to play as a number 6.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm, Daley Blind is likely if we are getting rid of Fellaini.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sambo, we are not loaning him out for experience. We need to find a buyer because he has no place at this club. So hopefully he has a decent season in Italy and either Napoli or another club take the plunge for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather take a small fee and make sure we sell him. Don't really want another player taking a wage that doesn't deserve it, a la Ando

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini is returning to pre season training today. This means that LVG has had no chance to see him perform. I would suggest that this is another media fairy tale. Fellaini will be given a chance to show his worth ( or not ).

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes that's why I was saying I couldn't see the point of a loan. Its a bizarre one

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini is seen as a number ten by LvG and LvG made it clear that we have too many. We are all hoping for a Vidal in, Fellaini out.

Agree0 Disagree2

Fellaini
My view is we should keep hold of him for now, OK, he had a terrible season last year but so did ALL united's players but we may need him as a back up player for both Mid/Def, who knows LVG may even get him playing football(longshot I know).
But saying that, If we bring in more players for them positions then bye bye wig.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the whole Vidal thing should be put to bed now!

Agree1 Disagree0

Regardless of whether LVG sees him as a 10 or not he can play as a defensive mid and did so last season (yes, not a great one) but seeing as we don't have many central midfielders it can only mean we have a player coming in.

Personally I'd see Cleverley go before Fellaini purely because the wig can tackle, and although not last season but he's proved he can score goals in the PL unlike Cleverley.

I can only hope Vidal is ours but it's being announced at a later date. Surely it's got to be who Paddy and Wayne were talking about the other day?

Agree0 Disagree0

Slay it, before it breeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why let a player go before we've got adequate cover for their position? Why allow a player's value to drop by loaning him out when he has no future at the club? Why continue to pay £50k/week in wages for a player who has no future at the club? Why miss out on thousands of pounds in revenue generated through sales of afro wigs in the club shop?

These are just some of the questions that need to be asked.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ask Mr Woodward 'redseven' - I would think that LVG has said get rid but I can't imagine he meant on loan where we still more for him a week than a League 2 footballer earns in a year. And there will be no replacement for Fellaini - I think LVG sees him as a number 10 of which we have loads so in that sense he won't see him needing to be replaced.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will the club be offering refunds to fans who got 'Fellaini' on the back of their new shirts? Of course not. I feel sorry for them both!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed is there a good chance a deal can be done for Daley Blind? If Fellaini really is going out on loan then i'm assuming it's because we're confident on landing another midfielder

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Search engine please.}

Redseven he cut his hair so can't believe wig sales will do anything but decline ;). I personally would be surprised if fellaini was to be sold/loaned to another club before lvg has spent a bit of time getting to know him. That said I can't really see him fitting into the current set up but lvg has so far got performances out of some players I didn't expect so there is still hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

Felliani is not an Anderson or Nani. They are players with nothing to offer Man Utd.

Felliani has completely unique assets in his game. As far as luxury players go, the likes of Felliani's and Hernandez's are the best types of players we could hope to have to change games. They can provide different dimensions in our play when games are not going to script.

We should all know this well enough as United fans having had a no. of important players down the years in squad playing roles. Solskjaer's, Sheringham's, Ji sung Park's, Nicky Butt's, Darren Fletcher's. Even less well remembered players still served well. Owen, Ronny Johnsen, Henrik Larsson, Wes Brown, Phil Neville, Henning Berg. (-Brian McClair, Clayton Blackmore, Lee Sharp - and so on, for those who remember them!)

With these types of players performing well, their value can be close to important first team players. A win is a win. If Hernandez changes 5 or 6 matches a season, (which he has probably averaged since joining, ) then he may have provided us with a service worth 5-6 points per season, + progression in cup competitions.
That can be enough to decide title's or win trophies at the end of the day, and that is why Solskjaer and Sheringham are so fondly remembered.

The mistake in signing Felliani was that we bought him to replace players we desperately needed to replace - scholes/giggs & carrick - due to their slowing down. Felliani a player who's frame is too big to naturally move up and down the pitch, was no solution whatsoever.

The fact remains however that Felliani could still have a lot to offer in a different role. For me, even as a squad player, Felliani could become an iconic player in the present era. We should not be so quick to get rid of him for £15m.
