Delegation jet out to Brazil to sign Lucas Moura!!..... so say the Mirror anyway, would be a class signing, thoughts?

Believable27 Unbelievable8

Yes! Real Madrid will get Modric or Chelsea will, so we have a chance of getting Moura. But question is where will he fit in?

Agree0 Disagree0

Never seen him play an always get put off by YouTube clips and hype, if we're interested great coz that'll mean he's quality but it's more than likely some lazy back page writer making stuff up again

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player, but I do not believe this story to be true.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true and we pulled it off it would restore my faith in our transfer policy

Agree0 Disagree0

I see him as a wide player if he comes to OT. Would be a great signing especially if Nani leaves! I would still like a traditional left footed winger in the form of the Giggs of old on the left side.

Agree0 Disagree0

So we've signed a left sided attacking midfielder in the form of Kagawa and now we're interested in a right sided attacking midfielder...diamond formation with the middle 3 of Young, Carrick and Valencia? I could definitely live with that, even more so if we signed another CM!

Agree0 Disagree0

In my last post I said it was some lazy journo , I was wrong , it was just a stupid made up original post

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope no one gets their hopes up for this story. It more than likely wont happen and is just another filler story for another paper.

RedDevil7

Agree0 Disagree0

The mirror are pretty accurate IMO and have named the scout who is part of the delegation. I can see some truth in this but am not convinced on his style or team game. Looks a bit of a show pony to me with little end product.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's potentialy a top class player but I see this as an attempt by the big clubs of flushing each other out modric moutino van persie Lucas best available but whose Fergies no1 choice?

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance. The mirror have had twenty different names in the last month. If that's what they do I could work there

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Lucas will take the Ashley youn role in left attack. Kagawa is looking for the number 10 role an Fergue might put him behind Rooney if kagawa proves himself. We might also try to turn him into a cm in the role of Scholes if we miss out on Modric or Moutinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love this to be true he's better than Neymar
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

His club already turned down 32mil from Chelsea. Both the player and the club claim he wants to stay through the 2014 World Cup, and Brazilian football is no longer the poor little brother, they have huge TV and sponsorship deals and pay their top players as well as European clubs do. While I'd be happy taking the 32mil we would have spent on Hazard on Moura, I don't see why it would be any different than Chelsea's move. Adding a few million more on top won't do anything. Although I expect RVP to sign for City very soon and this may spur SAF into action to try to keep up...KG

Agree0 Disagree0

He would be a great signing and a good no. 7 for our club

Agree0 Disagree0

From all the posts above,i concluded that Moura is an attacking player...am not complaining much about that but am more worried about our defencive midfield.modric...my no.1 option then martinez second in case we miss out on modric...Systems.S.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's never happening...Chelsea had a bid of £32 million rejected as he said he was going nowhere till after the 2014 world cup. Just a filler story to use a different name to link to the club

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

His club turned down an offer of £32m from Chelsea a couple of months ago didn't they? Would we really offer more for a player untested in european football?

OLE4EVRA

Agree0 Disagree0

The Mirror, and specifically Harry Harris, got Dave Sextion sacked many many many moons ago. Never read it or believed it since!

Halesini

Calm down ,you know you lot go no money !!!!

Won't happen.

we won't pay over 25m for a player. Plus latin players have the reputation of being a bit hit or miss. For every ronaldo there is a kleberson.

United sign young spanish keeper rodrigo alvarez

Believable16 Unbelievable20

Is he any good?

Agree0 Disagree0

Never heard of him, would not be surprised if united try and turn him into a midfielder, seems like the only way we will get a central midfield player these days.

Agree0 Disagree0

He will go straight into the ressies and I think both Johnstone and Amos will go out on loan. I have a feeling that Amos may replace Butland at Birmingham, but we will see.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah - he's got bags of potential but may need a stint on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont know is he good but there will be probably something about him in tomorrow papers

Agree0 Disagree0

Hasn't Johnstone gone to Oldham?

Nicko

Agree0 Disagree0

Unexpected signings likely to come in from and by Fergie.........He said 1 or 2 thing going on.....,we may have 3 players coming in the mould of a left back,Defensive Midfielder and a Central Attacking Midfieder ........,LEFT BACK ~ L.Baines(expensive and we might pull out as Everton stick to their unscrupulous fee)......,OVIEDO(cheap and more talented altho without epl experience),......JETRO(inxperienced,cheap,future but has no epl experience)........,DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER ~ Fellaine....,M'Villa......,CAM ~ Witsel Axel or Jao Moutinho or Luka Modric.........

Believable5 Unbelievable25

Unbelievable for a couple fo reasons... Fellani is not defensive midfield as if you watched football everton play him off the striker just like they did at Old Trafford. Both Witsel and Moutinho would not be classed as CAM either as they do both jobs at either end

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa is a cam!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fearny,

Fellaine is a essentially a DM, he is sometimes played AM, CM, but he was bought as a DM so don't be going 'IF YOU WATCHED FOOTBALL'. His most natural role and the role he has played for years before being moved up to AM was DM so maybe YOU should watch some football.

Red Joe

Agree0 Disagree0

It makes no difference what he is as we will not be getting him, if we think Everton are being difficult over Baines then that will be nothing compared to what they will be like with Fellani as he only signed a new 4 year contract last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

More important than any of the posts about position ,fellaini is nowhere near utd standard , he wouldn't improve our squad at all

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

All those CAMs you say are not CAMs they are CMs which is what we are crying out for! We dont play DMs we play a holding CM, there is a difference. If we were to get MVila then he would play in the same way that Carrick does and not as a pure DM.

United wont be signing Van Persie. Fergie likes and (usually has) 4 strikers. He has already stated that berba is in his plans, so unless Welbeck or Chicha leave (Wont happen any time soon) United will NOT sign another striker!
James

Believable22 Unbelievable13

You must be incredibly naive if you seriously believe Berbatov is in his plans.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Berba said he's leaving already. Fergie wont keep him. RvP is an option as he would play right up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would it be naive to think he is staying? Fergie said he is still in his plans already and Berba said he would be leaving if first team opportunities weren't available and if Chica has the same form he had last season i doubt berba will be left out again plus we know he can deliver so i dont think he will leave! Just my opinion!
James

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Persie will definately not sign for another English club. He will go to Juventus. He doesn't need money he wants some titles and it will be easier for him in Italy.

Agree0 Disagree0

James, the manager said a couple of months ago that Berbatov will be sold, he and his agent have said the same. SAF's latest comment is to drum up his price. The only way Berbatov will be a United player next season is if no one buys him.

No name, he may be saying money isn't a factor, but it will be. He had no problem making his harsh Arsenal statement so why would he care about joining another EPL club? City will sign him in place of Dzeko.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta agree with Syd...RVP will be city bound on around £200k a week

Agree0 Disagree0

I have heard rumours about RVP to united but more prominently that he would go to city. Judging by his wife wanting to stay in London and his father saying that he would not move to another english club and RVP himself saying that he is not motivated by financial gain, I think city is actually a very unlikely destination for him.
Him and Rooney up front would be a wet dream though!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know Syd, I think things change in Football. I guess we will just have to wait and see. In my opinion though i think he will stay. I know we could get (around) 5-9 million for him now maybe less, not really sure how to judge how much he would cost due to his one year contract and not getting much football last season, but we know he has quality! I think Fergie knows now that Owen is gone, Will keane is injured maybe for most of the season and Chicha may have another off season that it would be wisest keeping Berba maybe for another season!

Agree0 Disagree0

United won't spend 25m and 10m per season wages on a soon to be 29 year old, often injured striker. That's the City way. Moutinho,Witsel or the like would be what we need. We'd save 5m per year wages too. You should always mend the most broken part of a machine. Uniteds is central midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see RVP moving to anyone besides City or the big two in Spain, Juventus have been linked but can't see him moving to Italy either.

How about if united offer 5-10m plus Berbatov, Arsenal having already signed Giroud and Podiski (sp) will probably be looking at another striker, use berbatov wage plus extra to lure him :) both players are wanting away and both have a year left on their contracts - Simples! :)

RVP,Rooney,Chico,Welbeck would be one hell of a strikeforce, with the support of Kagawa and another possible midfield player.

Come on Fergie you know it makes sense ;)

Giants14

Agree0 Disagree0

We will need another striker as Berbatov is going, however i can't see us signing RVP as the overall package would be far too expensive for a player of his age and with no sell on value. More likely as some of todays papers are sugesting would be a move for someone like Demba Ba , who would probably be happy as one of four strikers and very cheap at £7million.

Agree0 Disagree0

"The only way Berbatov will be a United player next season is if no one buys him."

You're probably correct Syd ;) lol.

Saying rvp snubbed new arsenal deal does that give us a better chance of signing M'villa? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable3 Unbelievable17

But now arsenal will want him more

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal are supposed to have given up on him after his Euro 2012 antics. IMO he is still our best option apart from Martinez who will not go to the PL i feel. If doctors can sort out Rodwells injuries then I would love to have Rodwell as much as Mvila, people seem to forget about Rodwell!

"Benfica are weighing up a move for Manchester United midfielder Anderson, according to reports in Portugal."

In the last week we have shown a bit of intrest in Witsel, maybe there can be a swap plus cash move?

-JakeW

Believable15 Unbelievable8

I would much prefer Javi Garcia he could be our answer to the midfield problem

Agree0 Disagree0

This could actually be a good deal

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2012 18:07:54
RVP will go to City because he's a money grabber just like Nasri and Clichy, showing zero respect to the club that were loyal to him through injuries. Please don't suggest we sign him. Last season was his first season without injury, he's 29 and we are building a team for the future.
SqueakyBum

Believable27 Unbelievable14

As an Arsenal fan I have been saying that all summer, glad ther are some other smart fans. Well said

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually don't think he is just a money grabber. He could have got more money by going elsewhere long before now. I don't think he will joing another English club out of respect for Arsenal. I think Juventus is his most likely destination.

Note Man City odds on to sign him - how are they going to keep RVP, Balotelli, Tevez, Aguero and Dzeko all happy?!

Agree0 Disagree0

And roque Santa cruz. Ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

By giving them hundreds of thousands per week haha. RVP is not leaving for money he is leaving for trophies. Unlike Nasri and Cliche.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you mate. He has had one really good injury free season in god knows how many years. The club sticks with him then he f***s off for as much cash as he can get his grubby little mits on the t**t

Just heard on talksport, v Persie is not going to sign a new deal at Arsenal, I really Fergie should make a move and show his intent to win things next season!

Believable9 Unbelievable25

Please forget about RVP. he is similar to Nasri and Clichy(money grabbers) too injury prone and is not what Utd need to build a new team, and in my opinion Berbatov is a much better team player who has shown a lot of respect and class throughout....

Agree0 Disagree0

He's said the talks hav'nt even got to the money side he just wants to win trophys, I dont think you can compare him to berba he's in a different class!

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't sign him. He'll go to man city or juventus

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont count out Barca yet just because they have said they are no longer interested. Dont be surprised if they re ignite their intersest now that RVP has made this statement.

Van Persie has rejected Arsenals latest contract offer, could this mean anything for united? Or is it Man City all the way from here?

LUKE CHADWICKS LOVE CHILD

Believable6 Unbelievable12

He'll go to City but ... Arsenal may yet force him to paly out the remainder of his contract as nonsensical as that may seem from a £££s perspective.

Halesini

Agree0 Disagree0

If RVP really is to be sold by Arsenal then we should be really interested. Albeit he is older than our usual policy allows he is real quality and would provide an excellent partner for Rooney for 3/4 years. He would also be a mentor for Wellbeck during that period. If we could get him for no more than £20m that would be a great buy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Van persie will definately not sign for another English club; I see him going to either Spain or Italy. Probably AC or Juve

Afternoon Gents,

Well I am gutted to hear Pogba's off, but if the lad wanted to go, what can you do? Could it of been avoided? who knows?

I'm not gonna slate the lad, his decision so you have to respect that but it did get me thinking, which Footballers have left United and gone on to achieve more Footballing success then United in in that same period?

Ronaldo? Title and Cope del Rey, but United have have won a League and the League cup and been to the Champions League Final. Ronaldo also won World Player of the Year whilst at United and not since!

Beckham? His brand may of gone up but not his footballing success.

Tevez? Haha, I'm joking on that one!

The only player I can think of is Pique! But he left as he was home sick and you can't stop the kid in those circumstances, I believe if he was to leave Barcelona, he'd want to join us now he's older!

So, Pogba, maybe the grass isn't always greener! He may win the league but it will always be a league that is tainted and as for Europe, I'm not sure Italy's club sides are the force they once were in Europe compared to English Clubs and the Spanish and Germans.

I suppose time will tell.

I'll wish him well, but not good luck, although, I think he'll need it.

Ports

Believable14 Unbelievable6

Jaap stam!! biggest mistake fergie ever made letting him go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jaap Stam may of been a mistake but again, did he achieve more once he left? He never won a title again!

Ports

Agree0 Disagree0

Pique to Barcelone demonstrates the good qualities of SAF. He understood that he could not offer consistent first team football to a loyal professional and made a selfless decision.

Agree0 Disagree0

U never know he may return to united a better player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sold Strachan to Leeds, let Beardsley go too, bobby sackville back in the day

Agree0 Disagree0

Strachan won 1 league title with Leeds, United won the FA Cup, Cup Winners Cup and then the prem started and the rest is history!

Beardsley only won 2 titles and 1 FA Cup, retired in 99 so will let you add up United's success in that time!

Bobby Sackville, well you stumped me on him :)

Ed im sorry as you are probably sick of this already but where does this flotation leave the club regarding transfers etc im just getting the feeling they want to see if the value of the club is as much as they think then sell more shares {Ed002's Note - It will make no difference in the short term.}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

True that it will make little short term difference but if you read the document provided to the US regulators there are deep concerns. The term is apparently used at its most chilling at the bottom of page 25. Here, the document states: "Our indebtedness could adversely affect our financial health and competitive position."

This is the Glazers publicly conceding – after seven years of denials from them, Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager, and the chief executive, David Gill – that the £423m debt loaded on the club by the US-based family when buying it in 2005 "increases the risk" of their ability to operate it as competitive business.

This section goes on to state: "As of March 31, 2012, we had total indebtedness of £423.3m. Our indebtedness increases the risk that we may be unable to generate cash sufficient to pay amounts due in respect of our indebtedness. It could also have effects on our business."

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure if it really comes as any great surprise that poor financial performance can result in a dimunition in purchasing power, increased risk of business failure etc surely if the company were to be relegated it would suffer similar issues? I don't think anything has been admitted that wasn't blatently obvious anyway.

Hello Ed 2. I know you are going to be busy today with all the news of the floating on the stock exchange in America. However if you could spare a minute do you know of any new interest in players, ie any new bids or if the clubs been talking with other clubs etc.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new I can think of.}

James Rodiguez quoted on Skysports saying he's not heard of any interest from United or anyone else and intends to 'win titles' with Porto next season.

Eds, Sydney, Jenny, Fearny et al - any news ?
I'd understood we had bid an undisclosed sum which was rejected but were preparing a £30m bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Syd...

Any transfer like fergie has admitted will be kept quiet and kept under the radar until a deal is struck... To keep the vultures (Man City, Chelsea) coming in and buying every player we want.

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

And he's not gonna say I would love to go to United for the deal to full through.
I don't expect him to come in this season though.

RedDevil7

Agree0 Disagree0

Good stuff. Hope we do get him as think Fergie may view him as the new Ronaldo. Not that there will ever be a new Ronaldo etc.

Looks to be lightening fast. Him and Valencia terrorising the wings would be an awesome sight for sure.

Appreciate that probably spells the end for Nani though which 50% here will love and 50% will loathe.

Halesini

Agree0 Disagree0

Or he may not have been told. United submit a bid to the club and not the player, if the club have no intention of selling the player then why would.they let him know as it would.only unsettle him. Or alternatively maybe we haven't bid for him, maybe the bid that was rumoured was for someone.else at porto.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Could he be telling the truth

Agree0 Disagree0

I havent heard anything from any of my contacts.
All this talk came from Portugal and there press reporting a bid was imminent. twitter and uk press got hold of this and thats where we are now from what i can gether. The player could well be telling the truth.

Jenny

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodriguez will only come if Nani goes, so I think he will stay where he is or go else where. If SAF wouldn't pay over 30m for Modric, he sure as Hell isn't going to pay 30m+ for a 20 year old with one good season behind him. We really need to focus on our midfield, where in an ideal world we'd buy 2 new players. Anderson, park and Young should All be sold, raising 30m or so, then with the money buy Moutinho. Then the Glazers can cough up some more for M'Vila or Witsel. We just can't rely on past greats like Scholes and Giggs, or the sick, fat and average with Fletcher, Anderson and Cleverley. I have a feeling that this season could see Petrucci overtake Cleverley in the pecking order. If he does;t then that would be a big let down.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree Mik - Cleverley is absolute class, he just needs a consistent run in the team. Whether we buy a midfielder should depend on whether in SAF's opinion, Fletch can recover and play a meaningful role this season and Ando can get fit and reach the potential we all thought he had a few years ago. Don't forget the European Debt Crisis and the FIFA financial fair play rules. This should mean that we are in an environment where we can negotiate great deals and under no circumstances should we pay over the odds for any player !

So with Spain conquering the Euros, no doubt they'll be looking to make a big impact on the Olympics. Of course that squad won't be comparable to the squad we saw at the Euros, but they do have some stand out players. One that I think is really going to turn heads is Ander Herrera of Athletico Bilbao. Surely he must be on United's radar given our interest in his team mate Javi Martiniez. Do you have any news on Herrera Eds?

IrishRed {Ed002's Note - Nothing.}

I'm hoping/backing Tom Cleverley to be the star performer of the olympics. If he can play like he did for us at the beginning of the season then he'll have a great tournament.

ED002 Manchester United has filed its papers for an Initial Public Offering in the US..What does this mean? we have placed shares in the US shareholding market

RED91 {Ed002's Note - In simple terms they will offer part of the club for sale via a public sale through an American stockmarket.}

Believable7 Unbelievable1

What are the implications of this in terms of future funds available for players etc?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think an Ed mentioned its on like £64m worth of the club just to see what price it can be expected to achieve.

With regards to transfer impact they obviously understand that the team sucking will hurt shares. The other thing is we won't know if the money spent on loans interest will be split to pay for players or not ,it could also just end up in Uncle Malcs trouser pocket as dividends , so short term there will be no difference imo

Pardoe

Not brain Surgery... United value the shares. They create a specified number of shares to be released to public.
