Ed, with liverpool (amongst others) rumoured to be interested in Eriksen and given our lengthy scouting of him, do you think SAF may be forced into bidding for him this summer so not to miss out? or is it a case of our scouts following most top talents closely so unlikely to move for him anyway?
personally I think that Strootman is pretty much a done deal, only issue seems to be money (tho mainly the agents)
Strootman and Eriksen would be excellent signings to replace Scholes and (long term) Carrick, I think Clev will/ has taken Anderson's place and we know Zaha's coming in, so either Valencia or Nani will most likely go (probably the later)
I also think that the Lewandowski rumours have been too many, for too long, for nothing to happen and in my opinion will be at Rooney's expense. (either sold or with Rooney playing in midfield, personally I think the team would play better if he left)
Evra has responded well to having his position challenged, but given his age and a decent season, may return and finish his career in France. We would have Fabio coming back and Buttner (who I always saw as a stop gap for Willems) so not sure he would be replaced were he to go.
CB seems to get a lot of media attention with Zouma and Garay being the preferred options, but with Vidic, Smalling, Evans and Jones, if Rio were to go I would prefer Zouma

sorry for the long post, but, if you could answer in regards to Eriksen info I would be greatly appreciative as I have made a £50 bet with a pal they won't sign him

dags {Ed002's Note - He won't be forced in to bidding. AC Milan, Liverpool, Roma and Spurs remain the most interested clubs in Eriksen and I would not rule out Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester City (although he has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea) or other previously interested clubs regaining interest in him. Back in July 2012 the Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen by them, although it came to nothing. The player remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam until the end of next season before moving to Spain but would likely jump at the chance of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. However, Ajax will not let him run down his contract so a move beckons this summer. The player will see out the rest of the season at Ajax and see if he can attract attention from Spain, or perhaps Italy. Whilst all of these clubs continue to watch the player, no one has yet come forward with a bid.}

Thanks ed, I think my bet may be safe as I def can't see him joining liverpool if the bigger clubs are also interested (thought had put my friend was a scouse fan lol)
ed, do you happen to know if he has said he wants to play in spain or used barca and real as referencing his intension to join an elite club like them (and of course us)

dags

Agree0 Disagree1

He will have at least 20 clubs wanting his signature, Liverpool will be at the bottom of that list for sure. I cannot seeing SAF letting him join Liverpool anyway. I know that sounds arrogant, but SAF would certainly try to intervene if Liverpool came close to signing him.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't rate him at all really. I fink he's really over hyped

Erikson is a very good player fluid good passing attacking player but is he better than other options Isco Gotze and Benat to name a few are a better fit and not to mention Cleverly and Jones are starting to show just how good there really are can see Jones being our midfield general lots say we need. And I don't think SAF would buy Erikson him just to stop Liverpool getting him Syd it would be a massive bid around 20m and unless he is a real target for us then we won't be in for him not and its not like Liverpool can buy players to make them contenders there going to lose there best player this summer lol. I think we will sign players for position that have players moved out ie who ever we sell or have retire we will replaces with either youth or signings Nani out Zaha in Scholes retires Powell stepping up and so on I also can see us bidding for Bale. Katef.

Agree0 Disagree2

He is not good enough to play for barca or Madrid and not that special. He will go for something like 12 to 15 mill euro and I am not surprised we are not interested.

Hi eds,

Great site really appreciate the work you do. Do you think that our transfer budget could be a little larger this summer due to increased revenue from the new PL tv deal?

Thanks Stew4d {Ed002's Note - What budget would that be?}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Well just going by the players Ed 02 thinks may be incoming the budget would be between 60 and 70 m.

Grund {Ed002's Note - You don't think any players will be sold then?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed even though you never seem to want to explain it how do transfers in football work, I want to become a football scout in the future and was just wondering {Ed007's Note - Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

rumours I've seen up to now of players coming aren't very high profile, eliaquim mangala, alex sandro, and saleh gomaa, I hope it isn't going to be bargain basement buys again.

evra, vidic, hernandez, solskjaer, ronaldo were all bargain basement. Veron, Berbatov were not. See a pattern?

Agree3 Disagree0

Alex Sandra has a lot of potential. Will be as good as Evra. Also as an alternative to willems.

Agree1 Disagree0

Bargain basement again? Rvp kagawa we haven't really ever bought bargain basement have we

Agree1 Disagree2

They just aren't established, Ronaldo wasn't a household name when he signed.

Suppose he was basement standard though wasn't he

Ed I was reading some site stating we where interested in jordy clasie whom is regarded the 'Dutch xavi'. Do you know if there is any truth in this rumour also what do you know of the player as I'm not a follower of the Dutch league

19JackC94 {Ed002's Note - Feyenoord's Clasie is a target for Fiorentina.}
