a website approached a barca 'source' and he has said there is no offer or approach for thiago! What on gods earth is the hold up, why is it taking so long to agree a deal with barca. it should be easier than a normal signing. these a release clasue for crying out loud!

The lawyers should have a lot to sort out when you hear at the new appointments of staffs and leaving players/staffs, but I presume they should be getting ready soon.

I suspect as if the release clause is met Barcelona have no right of veto, united are negotiating directly with thiago. Once thiago decides he wants to sign for united, united will offer the release clause amount and Barcelona will have no choice but to accept it.

It's a little more complex than people think. One example is the taxes that will need to be paid on top of the buyout clause. They are almost as much as the buyout clause. MU and Barcelona may be trying to agree a slightly higher fee so that both parties are happy and the tax man misses out. It's morally wrong for Barcelona to do this, but it would mean more money for them. It would mean less money for us to pay and both parties will be happy.
Discussions have been taking place for a long time, no official bid will be made until MU know it will be accepted. Try to be patient, I think it could be agreed by Sunday.

Do you know what time on Sunday syd? Just I will be happy to put this one to bed and get him on board. Really think he could be the best signing we make this summer, unless we really do see Ronaldo come home, which I think will happen next summer

I think the best thing for everyone to do is try to forget about Thiago until something official appears.
The number of silly stories flying about, he's turning into this year's Sneijder!

I just think MU wanted it sorted by today to give DM something to talk about, but dealings with Barcelona are always prolonged. I think it may take a couple days longer than planned. My gut says Sunday and a press conference for Monday, but it's just a guess of course.

Did someone really just ask "Do you know what time on Sunday"? A facepalm moment if ever there was one.

What time Sunday?!, well, personally, I would expect it to be after Top Gear, but that is just my thoughts!lol, I don't have any sources to confirm this though! and it is therefore quite possible that it could happen during "Come dine with me", not that I watch it of course!

Like I said before, nothing was going to happen till after the Rooney fiasco had finished. Whether he stays or goes determines what we do transfer wise this summer.

At least for now he's staying. My thoughts:
- "we probably don't need a AML or AMC. the "problem" now will be where to put Kagawa, which is not actually a problem, as Rooney and Kagawa are really good players.
- Can Valencia regain his confidence? I hope so: every team needs the "engine guy", someone that has unlimited stamina throught out the game. I personally am pretty excited to see Moyes Handling him.
- With Rooney staying comes the problem/solution to Nani's situation: he will not have much space, so selling him won't be that much of a big problem. Interesting player to keep, but not for 100 thousand pounds a week, or at least that's what I think.
- The midfield will be the focus point. Two midfilders, at least, will be necessary. OR. Anderson and Cleverley can really up their games under Moyes, which makes me even more curious than actually bringning new faces. Logaically I would like Thiago, but, at the worst case scenario, we are not that horrible.
- Defense is solid. A t least for this coming season, I'm rpetty happy with what we got!

About time, someone that is using the 'little grey cells'.
LFC were critiscised over the Carroll panic buy, MUFC is more methodical, calculating and above all patient.
Putting ducks in a row, to shoot them down, has always been our strength, its a cross between good poker play and chess strategy.
eg. Ronaldo coming home, I honestly believe this will happen next January or next Summer when he has only one year left on his contract and his value will nose dive.
What better commercial deal could we get? Sell him for £80 mill, then get him back for say £20mill.
The other poster who mentioned taxes was spot on too, there are many other considerations rather than just rash decisions (which is NOT the MUFC way)

I don't see how people didn't understand the Rooney fiasco has a impact in so many ways.
For starters, keeping him hinders playing time and developing of Kagawa and Hernandez. Playing Kagawa out of position is not the answer.
This also may rule out a Ronaldo signing as Rooney has to be on par with the top earners at the club according to his last contract. Also by keeping him, where would you play Ronaldo, RVP, Rooney, Kagawa, Hernandez, Valencia, Young etc.
So basically IF we are to sign anyone this summer, then most likely it will be a CM player.
However, towards the end of last season, we were told that we would be making a 'big' signing, not sure who that honestly will be now.
