List of Cbs as per ed002

{Ed002's Note - Pretty much as it was right now Dave:
- Toby Alderweireld (CB) - but may need to fend off an offer of a new deal from Spurs, Manchester City and Real Madrid
- Raphael Varane (CB) - it drags on rather but Real Madrid may be willing to let him leave this summer for the right price as part of their major rebuild programme – so might be possible
- David Lopez (CB) - do not rule him out - Mourinho will wait and remains keen
- Don’t rule out a move for an English CB to keep the balance
- The likes of Clement Lenglet (CB), Milan Skriniar (CB), Kalidou Koulibaly and others have all been watched but no approaches made.
Umtiti is off the table.

Feel free to add this to the MU page Dave. }.

Skriniar is top quality, I was impressed before he joined Inter and I was curious if he can be solid there. Well, he was very solid this year. But of course I don't think Inter will sell after just one season with them.

Out of them I'd obviously love varane or Toby. Really like the looks of Lenglet and hope if we go for a cheaper option it's him. The English bit is interesting though, i really like lascelles and think he's definitely better than smalling and jones.

What about Jonny Evans? He has a 3 million release clause now that west brom went down. Can't believe clubs aren't fighting the bit out at that money. Big improvement on what we have and in today's market its basically a free transfer.

Cheers Dave

Did you follow 02 to the chelsea page for this run down on CB’s.

{Ed001's Note - he has been following him round Europe, bugged his phone and set up cameras in 002's house to get the info...}

Ed001 you do realise Ed002 didn't know I bugged his phone. well until now.

{Ed001's Note - you would be surprised what 002 knows. People think GCHQ is a govt entity, it is just Ed002's summer house where he runs his sideline in data gathering...}

Alderweireld the one for me. Dave and Ed have a great relationship on the continent.

alderwiereld- don't want to be mugged by Levi for a 29 yo with a bad injury but a stand out player
varane- think he'd be pricey but like his movement again he has had a few injuries
lopez- not seen much
skriniar the stand out for me but tbh JM might well pull another bailly out of the hat as he wasnt really at the front of the list when we signed him
we really need a quality cb as stated cheers dave / ed002 for info.

I’d say you can have Martial and we will take Vertonghen off you thanks.

Don’t think there is any chance of getting Varane. The stand out player in the RM defense.
Ramos is the organiser and motivator but Varane is the legs and physical presence.

Any new manager is not going to want to sell him.

Hope I’m wrong as would love him at Utd.

Cheers Dave and ED002.
We definitely need another top CB to play alongside Bailly.
We always pkay better fotbal when Bailly is playing.
He is sorely missed when he isn't pkaying.
I wonder whst the future holds for TFM and Tuanzabe.

Er-am i missing the obvious here, surely next season will be considered a success if its a top 3 finish? if 5 or 6 players do come in won't it take at least 10-15 games for them to bed in and for jose's philosophy to be imprinted on the team (bearing in mind i'm hoping for a more attacking approach? ), nothing would make everyone happier if the team hit the ground running, but surely what with the world cup and new signings joining after a delayed holiday, i'm going to guess next season will be a 'transition season' with maybe a cup or dare to believe a good campaign in the champions league? hopefully jose and his new inner circle will prove me wrong big time.

The players that are at the club all ready will of all had at least 12 month to get the philosophy so we should in theory improve .

05 Jun 2018 15:35:25
Yeah you are missing the fact we aren't Arsenal mate.

3rd year in is the 'prove it' season, not another transition season. Every top club has to contend with the World Cup. Most top clubs buy several players in the transfer window.

Jose's philosophy can be learnt in 94 minutes, just have them watch the film "127 hours", survive the onslaught, dismember your heritage, and grind it out until the bitter end!

Since when has the financial targets of the club been the targets of the fans? I don;t care where we finish personally, I'd just like to think the past 2 years of dross football have been building to something pleasing on the eye and bringing in entertainment value from the massive investments we have made.

No excuses this coming season. We have to perform and we have to challenge for the title and at least quarters for the champions league. If we are not performing to where we should be with the money spent, then it is time to start looking at a different manager.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Jun 2018 18:47:17
There should be no more excuses next season the manager will have had the length of his original contract, unlimited funds and the complete backing of the board.

Next season is time to stand up and be counted and I think we will unlike most on here I could care less if we make big money superstar signings I kind of like the look of the signings we've made today for example they seem the kind of signings made for the sake of the team not just to sell shirts .

Personally I think we will at least win the title next season and have a right crack at the UCL, but if we don't I think the blame can only land at one person's feet.
