Broken ribs. Got in the way of a Paul Scholes thunder bolt

He's out injured with broken ribs

So was that a scholsey shot or a slide tackle?

Nani used to spar with Mike Tyson.. No wonder Davide has broken ribs.

I'm sure all of you will agree with me here, but I am so glad we didn't buy Clyne, it would of stopped Rafael's progress and how much would we have missed that so far this season! I was big on brining Clyne in but thank God SAF decided on Rafael's!

If Vermijl was allowed on loan in the Championship he'd have a great season I'm sure. Also we got Valencia to play RB if needed.

Clyne rejected us, SAF didn't reject him.

Syd when did you find that out?! I was one of the people who was hoping he'd come, not sure what happened but Rafa's form this season has almost made me forget who Clyne is. Rejecting United though? I find it hard to believe. Rafael is the only true right back we have so not sure why he'd have doubts.

No Sydney is right, he liked the sound of Southampton's "project" but he wouldn't reject Utd first, SAF would of wanted him, I just don't know if he made a bid after seeing Rafael's progress!
U.T.I.D

He said himself he rejected "interest" from united because he knew he would get more playing time at Southampton. I doubt there was any formal offer.

Tunicliffe to me is a faster version of Carrick, only passes side ways! Not very impressive at all IMO.
And where the heck is Petrucci ?... Does Syd or the EDs know ?

Tunicliffe is better at tackling but carrick is superior in every other part of his game. I think Tunicliffe is massively overated tbh and is mostly liked because of his "energy" and "winning attitude". These attributes are good but not enough in modern football if you want to win the PL and CL.
Dan

Don't agree at all... Tunnicliffe is not a Carrick sort of player, He is a not as good Keane/Butt sort of player. In the team to basically win the ball back and give it to the attacking players, we lack his fight in the middle of the park he would be perfect next to Cleverley or Anderson they can allow him to do the dirty work and give them the ball to make the impact

No actually he is nothing like carrick. Tunucliffe covers ever single bit of grass on the pitch, His engine is truly remarkable. Plus every time he has the ball he makes arun forward.
Mick
Agree1

Tunnicliffe would be lucky if he had anywhere near the talent of Carrick. Tunnicliffe is a hard-tackling workhorse with average ball skills/passing.
He will get a good career at a chamionship club or maybe lower Premier League club.
Agree1
Disagree0
Roy Keane at Forest was all about winning the ball passing it simple & high energy lung busting runs.
Tunnicliffe does this very well. So he lacks on other parts of his game. At the end of the day you need a midfielder like this in your squad to win the ball back.
You don't win games without the ball.

Oh come on..... comparing a young Roy Keane to Tunnicliffe? Are you joking??
A young Keano was lightyears ahead of Tunnicliffe at the same age. I understand that people like him for his style of football but there is close to no chance for him making it at United.
We are going for a more possession based football and his ability is way too limited for that kind of football. He´ll end up at a championship club and maybe a lower Premier League club in the future but have a career at United? No chance.

@Tj, You don't need a headless chicken running around in midfield throwing tackles around.
In modern football you mainly win the ball with good pressing and interceptions.

If you could have one of the following four defenders...which would it be and why?
Nevin Subotic
Mats Hummels
Sergio Ramos
Angelo Ogbonna
I'd have Sergio Ramos myself, great passer of the ball up to the midfield and can play anywhere in the back four!

Ogbonna, he would be the best value for money, is at a good age, has great ability and is able to fill in at LB if needed.

Hummels, young quick and a great captain.

Hummels or Subotic would be great additions. Think Subotic is more likely though with the Serbian connection. Are almost identical age but Subotic probably cheaper as well. Ramos is nowhere near the standard he use to be.

Hummels is the best followed by ramos. Ogbonna is god, just doesnt stand out. He can fill in at leftback, but so can evans.
I would personally prefer Papadopoulos.
Subotic is good just not that good.

Hummels. He is the best he and he is one of the youngest. Plus I like the way he starts attacks. So the best, the youngest and the most exciting style its a no brainer for me.
Dan
Agree1

I´d only want Hummels. Ramos is massively overrated. He´s a better version of David Luiz. Great on the ball and his pace saves him from so many positional **** ups.
Agree1
Disagree0
Ramos, I think he is incredibly talented, if going through a bit of a poor patch. He is still only 26 so, as a CB, there is a very high chance he hasnt peaked yet. Also he already has the experience to teach smalling and jones as vidic and ferdinand fade
Jaxer
Agree0

Teach Smalling and Jones? His positioning is poor. As a centre-back he lives from his pace and physique to cover his weaknesses. He couldnt teach them anything.
He is a better version of David Luiz. Everyone raves about their ability on the ball and thinks they are great defenders. Both of them definitely arent.....
Ferdinand, Vidic and Nesta have been great centre-backs. Thiago Silva is a great centre-back currently. Ramos is nowhere near them. Not even close. Smalling will surpass him as a centre-back easily.

anyone else think we should be sending out some youngsters on loan to swansea? the play good passing football, our youngsters would learn a lot from it..

But they wouldnt get many starts for swansea. The only players who could get a 1st team place in swansea are petrucci and Powell to a certain extent.

Lingard and Keane out on loan to Leicester.
So with Smalling and Jones nearly back and in contention for first team football it makes sense to keep Wootton as back up CB and loan out Keane along with Lingard. Some of our youngsters need to be playing first team football elsewhere so that they don't become stale with a lack of first team opportunities. Would be nice to see a few of our youngsters out on loan in the EPL. Maybe in January loan some youngsters to Wigan.

Hey guys first time poster here , I must say what a cracking job that gets done here and I love coming on here to listen to people's views etc. One name I see thrown about a lot is Huntelaar...and the price is always rumoured 6-8m. Honestly I know we have enough strikers but for 6m and the rediculous prices now a days I think it's a bargain partnership with van persie what do you guys think. Jord

RVP, Rooney, Wellbeck,Kagawa, Chicarito, Will Keane, Josh King, Henriquez, Kiko, no room for Huntallar, no need. He wouldn't improve us in any way.
Mik

Van Persie is a very complete striker but to play with Huntelaar he´d have to drop deeper to be more in a role of a creator and Rooney is so much better in that role. We don´t need Huntelaar.
