Rumour has it Chelsea have failed with a fresh £30m bid for Neymar, could he be waiting for an approach by Barcelona? What's happening Ed002?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I don't know of a new bid. He said he would like to play for Barcelona. Previously he has said he would like to play for Chelsea, Inter, Milan, Madrid etc.. We should wait and see.}

First time poster, so please e gentle lol
firstly i do not think we will sign any players from dortmund, they are doing well in the bund. certs for cl next season and hve no real financial worries so basically are in a very strong position to keep hold of their players
all reports suggest De Gea is all but ours with skellenburg now being looked at by arsenal and the fact that UTD don't seem to land german players (not for lack of trying eg ballack)
i think sneider would be be a very good bet as would add proven quality in midfield
i think some of SAFs long term targets may be bid for, namely defour (ac milan said to be interested) and douglas costa (would strengthenour left side options) i would have said conterao but i believe madrid will move for him so may get priced out
i do not belive we will sign young as i think he will end up at spurs (although liverpool will also try landing him)
AOC looks a good buy for the future maye being loaned back for experience, rodwell may be given another year to prove himself depending on other bids (pos chelsea) and there is a little too much noise around him, for me smells like a smokescreen (prob for defour) my last shout would be for adam as would be a great squad player, willing to run and could get the ball forward quickly (something carrick has forgotten) providing potentially dangerous balls to our wingers/ forwards
i think a good cb will come in but not till next year (again other bids may bring this forward) and will prob a vidic type of player so could be 1 of cahil, kjaer or subotic, personally i prefer the later
these transfers would cost aprox 100m but with player sales of 25-40m this isn't too unrealistic as bar the usual youngsters and a cb next year we would not need to spend alot again for 3-5 yrs so the net spend a year would be very managable (even for the glazers) esp with morrison, tunnicliffe, pogba etc coming through in next few years aswell
the only exception would be the replacement for rooney in few years time as i believe his wages may become an issue (if not with the glazers then potenially with the other players as they won't be offered the same amount)
i would like to state that i don't have inside info but these just seem logical signings and would fit with SAFs methods

So it looks like De Gea is probably going to arrive in the summer and of all keepers that have been named I'm glad that it's him.

But we can't forget the huge boots that he has to fill if he does arrive.

In my opinion, Van Der Sar is the best keeper in the world at the moment. He's so underrated, it's unbelievable.

If De Gea does arrive, I hope VDS is still here to coach him.

"I just think he wants to stay at AM, but they want to cash in on him. I doubt he doubts his ability at all, perhaps he is saying this so United won't want him? He loves AM, he would stay if he had a choice, but like I said AM want to cash in on him. His old agent promised De Gea he would get him an improved contract at AM, now he is changing him. It's seems straight forward to me, De Gea wants to stay at AM, while AM want to cash in on him. It sounds like they are putting a lot of pressure on him to join us.

Does the Ed know anymore?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - I don't know of Atletico putting any pressure on him to go, they do want the money, but they are happy to keep the player.}"

Its straightforward to me. United want De Gea are ready to pay, Athletico will sell for the right price (which club won't?) and De Gea needs to make the final call on whether he is ready to make a move to the most in spotlight club or not. Simple and clear? He does not doubt his ability, but he is undecided over whether jumping into the fire so early into his career with such great responsibility and pressure is right? That is not doubting ability, but thinking sensibly. But i believe SAF will be able to convince him.

As for athletico wanting to force him out, they aren't in as much financial trouble as you think. And even if they are they have Aguero and Forlan who could sell for what, around 60+mil combined? Asenjo could easily go for 10+mil? So they have no need to sell De Gea really, but they will for the right price if the player wants the move just like every other club.

Just heard some rumours that Manchester united want to sign these 5 players.
de gea 19m
wesley sneijder 32m
rodwell 20m
dougles costa 15m
simon kjaer 15m

personally i don't think man united should sign rodwell or costa, i would prefer neymar and de rossi.

ed, sydney and gan what do you think of these rumours?

@They are certainly the positions we need to strengthen mate. We will need a CB if Brown goes, also with Rio's injuries, I would imagine a CB will be signed. Kjaer is decent enough, I think we may look at Clark for around £7m. I would say two CM's will be signed, Rodwell & Goetze for me, especially if Scholes retires. I would prefer M'Vila & Modric though. Although I have to admit I do highly rate Rodders. Another winger to come in is very possible too, with Obertan & Bebe (loan) leaving is very possible although Goezte can also play as a winger so we may not need another.

I think Young will be targeted. But who knows mate. The positions certainly look right though.

@I am not sure AM would make it public knowledge that they are ushering him out of the door, it wouldn't bold well with the fans. They need to raise some cash this summer and I think they have decent enough cover for De Gea in Asenjo.

What we know about it is United are keen to sign him, AM are keen to sell him and it's just De Gea himself holding up the deal. It's no secret he wants to stay at AM, so why is this an issue? Surely he says he wants to stay and he rejects a move to us. But it seems that the club want him to leave.

One thing that i am glad of is we are targeting De Gea, if we were shopping for bargains then we would not be looking at a £20m keeper. I hope he signs, but if it falls apart I still think Adler is who we will look to next. I have always said I would love us to sign De Gea, but I think we will end up with either Stekelenburg or Adler.

Do you think we will get De Gea Ed?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - Atletico would prefer to sell Asenjo and keep De Gea, but De Gea is the one that people want to buy and so is likely to end up at United.}

De Gea told Man Utd he wants to stay in Spain for at least another year so now Man Utd are seriously considering getting Buffon this summer since he can come on a free (or very small fee). The only problem is his high wage demands.

"De Gea is a very confident young man, he would happily play for Spain now if he was given the opportunity. I do not think he is worried about joining a big club, I think he doesn't want to leave AM and they are trying to cash in on him. It's no secret they are in huge debt and they have a great replacement in Asenjo.

Sydney!"

Athletico are by no means trying to cash in on him. I said it 4 days ago and will say it again. De Gea was not confident about whether he would be able to take the pressure, or more importantly, will making the step to england, be the right move for him. And that United are ready to pay what is being asked. That was what i was told.

That has been echoed by two of the most in the know journalists in Balague and a guy on ESPN as well if i am not mistaken.

Why do you think it is unlikely? Its very much likely for a Spanish keeper who has not more than 2 years of experience in the first team under him, to doubt if him taking over from a two time champions league winning legend at the best club in the world, where young keepers have crumbled in the past is the right move for his career. Its very much likely that he seriously considers whether remaining at Athletico for another year will be better for him. Even more so after committing some mistakes against Barcelona and RM. He is also to undergo a change of agent.

Dear sirs
at the expense of being a wet blanket at all the various enthusiastic speculators on the site
it is a banter and rumour site anyway
at the moment there will be no more than 2 signings MOST PROBABLY
so don't get the hopes up too high
ngiak also believes even if there is one signing
we have a good bunch for the near future within the club anyway
but no harm wishing for more. . :)
gan
ps. . so which 2 players do people think would be good for the team? a GK and a CM ngiak guesses. .

@ funky pigeon - you must play alot of fantasy football. .

United Wage bill stands in at £130 million.

Consider that Fergie wants to buy 2-3 players. I know that the Man utd budget has been stated as £175 million but if you guys are really crazy go for it but a realistic target would be around £50 million

Kaka will not be sold for under £25 million. his salary is about 9.8 million

Combined him and rooney make £20 million if they play together.

Its nice to dream but the finances don't work out. Also not to forget to take into account nearly £30 million in interest on the debt alone.

But sure why not. .Kaka is knocking on your door. hes been a shadow of his former self and i believe its the right thing for united to spend money and be more in debt with an injury riddled player.

Just spoke to my friend that gives me a little info every now and again, nothing concrete just a few things he hears through player agents that he apparently knows (i don't know them).

Apparently United have looked at these goalkeepers extensively:

1)De Gea
2)stekelenburg
3)Neuer
4)Llorris
5)Adler
6)Handanovic
7)Akinfeev
8)Romero (looks like i'm not the only person to notice him).

They're in no order btw, they're just as i could remember them when i got off the phone to him. Sounded quite confident De Gea was pretty much done though.

And how the hell have we overlooked Handanovic? 6'5 typical 'big goalie' Does well in the Italian league. 12 clean sheets in 29 games? considering he's got a terrible back 4 infront of him those stats are quite good.

Ed, what do you make of Samir Handanovic?

The Moon. {Ed001's Note - not seen him to be honest, I don't watch the Italian league, it is awful.}
