Vincenzo Perrotti has been tweeting all night about the Sneijder deal. Heres the highlights:

Wesley Sneijder's extravagant pay demands apparently will prevent the Dutch international from completing his desired move to the Premier League.

Neither Manchester City nor Manchester United consider it viable to match the playmaker's £200,000 (Dh1.2 million) basic weekly wage at Inter Milan as well as paying a transfer fee of £30m to £35m to the Serie A club.

United ended their long-standing interest in Sneijder following a series of unsuccessful attempts to structure a financial package that would fit the player into their carefully controlled wage structure.

With Sneijder's after-tax salary standing at £5.25m and substantial bonuses on top, David Gill, the chief executive, has declared an end to the negotiations.

City also wanted Sneijder, entering discussions with the player's representatives about a transfer. Yet despite having a pay ceiling capable of accommodating Carlos Tevez's hefty salary, they have declared the overall cost of a move prohibitive and focused efforts elsewhere.

I suggest you all read the latest posted articles on Twitter/Internet which now clearly show that Sneijder has agreed terms with Utd, both he and his wife happy to move and medical will be on Thursday after England match. Deal done. PRR* on this occasion guy even City had the decency to come out and deny the rumour. As for Duncan Castle he survives on Twitter with crumbs he gets off people and more often than not as proved here makes a pigs ear of it. Just chill and enjoy Thursday.

Pathetic rumour of Shi*ty and Sneijder. He scored a great goal but they lost. The loss doesn't define his future at Inter nor does the goal define he is staying. There is yet to be heard of United actually going for him. United is being patient on who they will pursue because the papers are f'ckin it up.

Its not the papers mucking things up, its Gill and fergusons reluctance to spend big on one superstar thats the problem

I still believe Nasri should be the main focus. Literally putting foot out the door. Sh*ty might be the club rumoured around him but United should snatch him.

Tottally agree man, wud much rather see him in a utd jersey rather than sneijder. If we can afford to pay 30m+ for sneijder then we shudnt hesitate to pay that for him

With all the rumours and Managers quotes,..Berbatov will be sold in this window.
He will be 31 after 5 months, we are getting offers for him and worst of all he is on a final year of contract, do u guys think he will be allowed to leave for free next season after all we have spent almost £30M.I dont think so, yes he could be handful for contributing goals this season,may be 15+,but we wont get another chance of £15M+ for him in next window.
He will be sold before 1 september,along with Gibson,Kuszczak.

I think he'll be sold aswell.

I can't see him breaking himself back into the starting eleven because the partnership between Rooney and Chicharito is too good.

Welbeck has been told he'll play an important role at United this season. If we don't sign a midfielder to replace Scholes, I can see Cleverley getting alot of games this season aswell.

Talks between City and Inter have been taking place for the past few days and this is true. They are hot favourites to sign him now. But does this mean they have lost out on Nasri? Or do they want both? Sorry lads but it seems Sneijder will end up at City unless we take City on.

If the player doesn`t want a move,Club cannot force him.Look what happened with Sanchez.

And i think If this matter goes for a week or so,Sneijder will come out and say he does not want to go to city.

I don't think Sneijder will go City. I think Nasri will but Sneijder, no.

If the Sneijder/City rumours are true then Nasri has to be the best bet, Fergie should offer £25 million. I like Sissoko, he really is a Viera type player, he can also get further up the field to attack, still young and would cost about £15 million.... HERBIE

Chill guys, the Sneijder deal is done and hes coming to us. As I have been saying for the last 3wks the deal is done and will be announced this next week. All sorted just relax and of course City would try and hi-jack this Transfer but they have failed. Surprised at you Syd, felt sure you would know about this.

Sneijder...Probably the most talked about player from Utd fans. Will it happen? probably not. To be honest we should be focusing our attentions on Gotze and Kagawa. Gotze:Fast,Creative and Intelligent. Kagawa:Goalscoring Midfielder which Utd have never really had unless you look at Scholes. We should try to tie up a 55M deal for them next year as we have spent alot this year so we should wait till next year...

Stop panicing, the rumours have been denied by Inter and Sneijder won't be joining City. There was a lot of talk in the stands at OT last night regarding Sneijder, the reliable press are pointing towards a deal being done. Also with Sir Alex being so coy on the matter it does feel like something is going to happen. Just give it some time and relax. With regards to last night, Young looked bright, De Gea seemed relaxed, Jones was comfortable on the ball (when he came on). Pogba was very exciting, good control on the ball, made tackles, linked up well and could see and make good passes. Wellbeck looked sharp (apart from when he ran into Macheda, lol). I also hope Diouf stays and gets some Carling Cup games, he's a tidy finisher and I think could be a handy player to keep if he gets the chance to get his eye in. I hope my progress report is useful :)

They have just spent about £50M on Jones, De Gea & Young.
And now you are moaning because they won't spend another £30M - £40M an a VERY overrated player.

I have just had the article from Gazzetto dello sport translated. It doesn't make a lot of sense but it basically says that city have paid 36 mill for Sneijder. 6 mill more than we were willing to pay and this makes more economic sense for all parties. So yeh I think they will sign both. How and where they are going to fit all these players in is beyond me.

Pretty much mate. United listened to offers for Nani in June and I believe we were going to sell him to fund the Sanchez deal and now he has moved to Barcelona we will keep Nani, but Ed002 believes he could still be out the door this summer. Obviously by us getting rid of two wingers and Giggs retiring to central midfield, it would be ridiculous to get rid of Nani now as well.

Gazzetta Dello Sport is reporting that City have signed Sneijder for 36million and todays super cup will be his last game. {Ed002's Note - Just to say that there is no confirmation of this but as suggested speculative reports do exist. I suspect if true we are about to see a shift of interest to Modric or, more probably and mentioned earlier, Douglas Costa.}

Don't know if any of you caught the Scholes interview on MUTV re his retirement etc. They asked him what he thought of Sneijder, his reply "He's Brilliant". Dont think praise comes higher does it and I reckon he knows a bit about being a CM so I'll take his recommendation all day long. Welcome Wesley

I was at scholesy's testamonial, anderson looks like he has really worked on his game going forward and the 25 minutes or so pogba got well he looked comfortable definately one for the future, with these players improving maybe the answer to scholes' replacement can come from inside the club

No one from within the club will reach paul scholes's level for a good few years, and you don't even know if they will.. Sneijder is the closest thing we can get, world class playmaker
