Just had an update regarding transfers from a friend of mine who works as a sports journalist in Spain. APPARENTLY.

Sergio Ramos has rejected a new contract offer from Madrid. He will only be allowed to join United on 2 conditions:

1) if he asks to leave the club publicly so that the current president isn't faced with uproar by the Madrid fans for letting him go

2) United pay around the 43 million mark and accept the 23 million on the table for DDG

This is the first piece of football related information he has given to me since moving to Spain so I am not sure how reliable it is. Thought I would pass on the word as this is a rumour site after all.

Cheers
JR

I've heard that Ramos has rejected the contract offer. Supposedly offer around 5.3m p/y and wants nearer 7. In one of the major papers but can't say if it's reliable

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed004's Note - In all honesty I think I would offer De Gea and 20 million right now. Our net spend (after Evans is gone and possibly Hernandez) will be close to nothing and there is still time to sign a keeper like Lloris for 20/25 million. If those signings were made we would have possibly the best defence and midfield in the premiership for not that big a spend. However I still expect him to sign a new contract}

Best midfield in the league I don't think so Ed think that's just biasty now. Fabregas and Matic are streets ahead

Agree2 Disagree4

{Ed004's Note - I can understand your point but didn't we dominate possession in Stamford Bridge at the end of the season when we had started to click and play as a team? I have high hopes for our midfield but there are arguments for Arsenals and Chelsea's as well}

07 Aug 2015 07:40:47
Well schnerderlin was outstanding last season. Add that to Carrick who is quality whoever he is up against I to see a better pairing than matic and fab. And coqulein and Ramsey/cazorla.
Schnerderlin deal along with darmian is our best business so far

I agree Ed, I'd be happy to start a few games with Romero as long as we could get in Lloris and I think Cilessen has potential if he bulks up a bit. Would be a great team esp with another top striker/pedro in

Schneiderlin Schweinsteiger Carrick Hererra Mata > Matic Fabregas Ramirez Obi Mikel Oscar.

Matic & Fabregas streets ahead? Silly comment.

Agreed ed 004 I'd definitely pay 43 million for ramos! He is the only player we need that could be vital in winning a trophy next year

is oascar willian and hazard not part of the midfield.

arsenal midfield is also very strong

Agree0 Disagree2

07 Aug 2015 09:48:41
Schwensteiger is finished and injury prone, Carrick is a crock, and Schneiderlin will simply be a flop and very overrated but you have a great midfield, good to see the comedy geniuses are out.

Jred,
For me those players aren't, in the same way mata, young delay, and januzaj aren't. I concur with 004 on this one I'm afraid. And yes our midfield is streets ahead of arsenal.

Ed004, The best keeper in the world +20m for a 30 yr old defender who got torn apart by an average Dutch team in the world cup?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - So we are highlighting one game from a year ago? I'm sure if you pick out any player who has played for a decade or so at the highest level you will find a poor display. What about mentioning all the seasons were he was in the team of the year etc. It's either a swap or we get nothing for De Gea next season}

08 Aug 2015 10:55:15
I'd swap DDG for Ramos.

Hi Edds, with Lacazette looking like he's signed a new deal at Lyon, a lot of reports are suggesting we're after Lewandowski now? Realistically is this a target we could get?

Cheers, Ronnie.

Really don't think the club wanted to sell but seems like the player forced their hand. great footballer, bad professional.

Agree4 Disagree5

06 Aug 2015 14:37:31
One of the great sporting cowards of recent memory. For a player who many had previously admired for a seemingly relentless attacking instinct, he has demonstated a truly craven professionalism and a the heart of a quitter.

Agree8 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 15:55:09
I don't even think he deserves our comments. Let's get him out of United's history by not speaking about him anymore.

06 Aug 2015 17:06:36
he is soo to good for man utd. i guess dats y he had to sit on the bench for someone like ashley young. he is jus a coward he couldn't do what he did in la liga because out league is very hard. and even in the easy spanish league madrid chased him away and they knew why. now he wants to run to psg where he can do what he wants and he know its much easier

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 17:20:43
That argument won't fly, Walter. He was legitimately out-dueled by Ashley Fricking Young. His talent may be in a rarified class, but he's got the heart of a certain rodent that he bears uncanny resemblance to. If he maintained any sense of sporting pride he wouldn't have folded up like a crap tent at the slightest of adversities.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 17:25:35
Maybe negative but he went to PSG instead so kinda odd. only barca and madrid are bigger.

Before he signed for us He was dead set on joining PSG. They thought the ffp transfer reduction was going to be dropped as they spent the 50 million on David Luiz. We signed a player that was never interested in joining us in the first place, unfortunately, we were the only other team with enough money and he had no choice.

06 Aug 2015 18:08:41
He got scared away because he thought your lot were coming to eat him!

Anyone feel like a bit of Parisian burglary?

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Aug 2015 04:51:44
I would suspect, no, he didn't want to join last year. He was more interested in PSG but due to Financial fair play he couldn't. Now he has gone where he wanted. Now we move on.

There's mixed messages coming from Spain about pedro the tabloids are adamant he's coming to us and then the barcelona president saying we haven't even bid yet what's going on ED do you know anything ? Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Aug 2015 14:09:39
Apparently according to Balllache , We have agreed personal terms with Pedro . We have not offered any bid but will soon

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 15:48:37
I don't think any president will come and confirm what is written in the newspapers, even if it's true,he'll deny it or will not say anything to confirmed it. Luis Enrique said they want him to stay and it's up to Pedro, cleaning his hands if Pedro decides to move, he'll be the bad one, not the club. PEDRO IS COMING, but maybe it will be after Barca's Supercup against Sevilla on Tuesday. Whatsoever, players have to be registered before midday tomorrow if they are to play this weekend.

Manchester United have reached a 'verbal agreement' with Benfica over centre-back Nicolas Gaitan according to some newspaper or website from which i copied.

I am puzzled!

Is Gaitan a utility player like Blind or there are two Gaitans in Benfica, one a winger, other a defender?

Could someone explain to me why, despite being seeded, we face potentially tricky CL opposition including a couple of real banana skins in monaco and lazio whereas celtic who aren't seeded will be facing 1 of 5 real minnows. Am i missing something?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

06 Aug 2015 10:57:38
Seeding is based on the European co-efficient worked out by how well the team has done in previous years. Monaco are a relatively new team to the CL so they haven't got a good rating in the comp and Lazio haven't been in it for years so their rating has dropped.

Agree1 Disagree1

06 Aug 2015 11:15:47
There is a different route for Champions of lesser nations thatln there is for the 4th place teams from bigger nations. I believe it's well explained on United's site and a few other places on the web.

i think a match against fenerbahce would be nice.

Agree0 Disagree2

06 Aug 2015 12:08:38
I wondered this last night as well but from what I can see is the last qualifying stage is divided by 'Champion Seeds' and 'League Seeds'

Hence Celtic being Scottish champions they are seeded differently.

Wes369 - Fenerbahce were knocked out last night

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Aug 2015 12:16:07
Monaco would be very tricky as they are playing very well in pre season and have talented players. The only club in the French league who could get anywhere near PSG.
On a lighter note DIMARIA saying how happy he is to play for PSG. Wont be happy when playing in some cold corner of Brittany in a 10 000 seater stadium against not even championship level sides. that's what he calls ambition

Agree1 Disagree1

06 Aug 2015 12:25:06
Looking at the teams we can play there is a chance we may not make the group stages. , what happens then ?

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Aug 2015 12:50:10
We play in the Europa league.

Teams who won their respective leagues have a different qualifying side of the draw to us, we are up against teams that finished lower in the leagues but qualify due to the country getting the extra place. None of the 5 teams will want to draw Manchester United. I would think club Brugge or rapid Vienna would be our best options with Moscow being the worst.
