United Scouts believed to be watching Athletico Madrid play-maker Diego (Currently on loan from Wolfsburg after falling out with Management) The loan is a year long deal and Diego doesn't want to return to Germany but is believed to be unsettled in Spain. United may agree a fee with Wolfsburg to sign the talented Brazilian in the summer. He might be what United need. Thoughts?

Believable6 Unbelievable13

He's pants.

Pip

Agree3 Disagree3

I'm pretty sure if we wanted him we could of got him in the summer for dirt cheap. He has an attitude problem and all.

EDS is it true bout Milan clubs have tabled offers for Pogba? {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware.}

Believable6 Unbelievable4

I feel sorry for Pogba, he hasn't been given an opportunity to prove how good he is, i feel saf is reluctant to play certain youngsters

Agree1 Disagree2

I imagine he doesn't want the youth to be on the wrong side of a bad result and get smashed by the media for it. SAF did say the process wouldn't be rushed.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree1

Its a hard position to be in bringing in youth players, unless he's 100percent sure their ready. If he plays them and dey loose, most pundits and fans might say u shud have played the experienced players instead.

Front page of The Independant Tomorrow is that Fergie is willing to sell Rooney reliable Newspaper they are and united are set to deny any truth to the story i thought we dont normally respond to rumours? Do the EDS know if United are willing to sell Rooney? {Ed001's Note - it does seem there is some truth to the matter, though it is hard to be sure right now. I am trying to find out whether it is believed to have some truth because it is true or because people are remembering how Ronaldo was dealt with. I would tend to assume it is just people conjecturing a possibility, rather than it is true myself.}

Believable3 Unbelievable5

The club and the player have both released statements saying there is no truth to the claims, this was poated on sky news at 10:10 pm. Hopefully it isnt rue, people dont understand that if Rooney goes we have no world class players left and the Glaziers will profit from his sale just like the Ronaldo deal, open your eyes people

Flimbo

Agree7 Disagree1

IF he was to leave ED where is the most likely place to end up? {Ed001's Note - the reason why I would assume it was nonsense is that I can't see where he would go. Who could afford him? Madrid? They are offering Higuain to Chelsea to raise funds to buy players. The Italian clubs don't have the money they used to, I just can't see anyone having the money.}

Agree3 Disagree1

Rooney was always going to be sold once United had regained the upper-hand after the recent "Gun to the head" demands made by Rooney. Once they had him tied in to a contract that was too long for Rooney to just sit out and move on a free United looked to cash in on him.
I would be Dollars to Donuts that he is not a United player next year.

Agree4 Disagree4

Who would have the funds to buy him?

Two words....Manchester City!

Agree3 Disagree3

It's no more than guesswork by journalists because he was fined by the club and substituted near the end of the Newcastle game. That game was already lost, Rooney was playing awful and Anderson needed game time. The fact that it sells papers will also be a main factor to these stories. Rooney and United have both rubbished reports and there is nowhere he could go even if he was for sale. Real Madrid have Cavani in their sights, but need to raise £35m first, so they cannot afford him just like they couldn't afford Aguero. United would never sell Rooney to city, not unless he was 30+ years old and nearing the end of his career and we had a striker of quality either already at the club or ready to move to OT. Rooney will be sold by the club one day and SAF will have the last laugh, but we will get the best years out of him first. Also United have always responded to morale damaging rumours like this one, this is not something new.

Rooney has added to the his joint statement with club by tweeting that any suggestion that he's leaving is nonsense coming from people who don't know what they're talking about

Believable5 Unbelievable1

06 Jan 2012 22:06:30
rooney may be sold is on sky news

Believable4 Unbelievable9

I think you need to read or listen to the full report. NOT FOR SALE.

Agree8 Disagree3

No he isn't, they issued a joint statement saying he wont leave

Agree5 Disagree1

Joint statement from player and club, denying story as nonsense. Player has denied it as rubbish on his twitter page. So Rooney may be sold is utter rubbish.

Agree7 Disagree1

It's already been strenously denied by both Man Utd and Rooney. I still get the impression something is amiss. Time will tell, I guess.

Agree1 Disagree2

Smacks of beckham and van nistelrroy and ronaldo to me? denials then lo and behold sold! turn out the lights on the way out rooney!

Howard Nurse (BBC sports writter) claiming:
Saturday's independent reporting that #MUFC boss SAF may 'let Wayne Rooney go'. No further details for a little while though.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Expect a statement within the next 15 minutes from both Rooney and United strongly rejecting this rumour!

Agree5 Disagree0

Saying the same thing on talksport

Agree1 Disagree3

I heard this a couple of wks ago that real madrid had offered 60m and rumours coming out that fergie cant control him!

Agree1 Disagree4

Rooney & MUFC have come out furiously denying the story!! Thank god

Agree3 Disagree0

On rooneys twitter account he has stated that he got no problem with fergie and saturdays independant is talking rubbish !

Agree3 Disagree1

Where did you hear this story? Could you really imagine Wayne Rooney in Madrid? He wouldnt last 10 minutes.

Agree4 Disagree2

You dont think they would both come out and say its true do you ? anything is possible rooney doesnt look interested, didnt celebrate a few weeks back when we scored, and most of all we havent fulfilled our promise of quality addittions to the squad ,rooney is a very frustrated player at the moment.

Does any one think it be worth gamble on young Jordan Rhodes already got 20+ goals this season, yes I know its L1 but im sure hed be no worse than Diouf or Berbaflop (Sorry not a fan)... Wouldnt be a massive fee and could be a snip.

Believable7 Unbelievable9

Jordan rhodes better than berbatov? hope thats a joke

Agree7 Disagree4

Thats a stupid idea, Berbatov is a good player, he was sensational at spurs but just doesnt fit into Uniteds style. Why on earth would we get rid of last seasons top scorer and replace him with a league 1 player? Have you any idea how stupid you sound?

Agree6 Disagree4

Rhodes might be a good signing for the future, as for berbatov I dont think he is Utd style of player and remind who was joint top scorer lastyear and isnt playing...Just because he has had a decent 6 months for Utd doesnt mean we should keep him...It tells me we have no money as we are offering a new one year deal. Too much deadwood at the club, I would rather finish 4th and give youngsters like, Pogba, Welbeck, Morrison, Fryers a decent run in the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2012 20:08:12
How about having a punt on Jordan Rhodes. British, young and certainly knows where the net is. Interesting to see all the big clubs now sniffing around him. As a squad player he would definitely give us something

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Rhodes would certainly be a reasonable buy, he reminds me of mclair. Perhaps if he was south American he'd have more gravitas for some!

Agree3 Disagree2

06 Jan 2012 19:54:46
even if we do go for a midfielder during the window, i doubt SAF will go after the likes of sneijder, ganso, kaka... its just not goin to happen, id much rather bids for barry bannan from villa and james mc carthy of wigan, great young players...mufc {Ed007's Note - Another McCarthy fan, that's 5 of us!}

Believable7 Unbelievable6

It's ok those kind of players if you've got quality to bring them through, we haven't at the moment .

Agree2 Disagree0

Haha yeah he never gets a mention, crackin player, i think he'd fit right in at old trafford, He's gonna end up at a top team, just hope its us...mufc {Ed007's Note - Even the experience he has got at his age is brilliant. He just turned 21 in November and has about 100 games up here in Scotland (I know pub league blah blah, but it's still better than reserves down there?) and about 60 EPL games under his belt, plus he has played with Cleverley. Sorry mate, I'm ranting again.}

Agree2 Disagree1

We dont need more "good young players" we need people to come in and do a job now, consistantly and help the younger lads we already have at the club improve. {Ed007's Note - He could walk into the team right now.}

Agree6 Disagree1

06 Jan 2012 18:07:10
Finally some good news about Cleverley, he tweeted this earlier: "@tomclevz23: Finally some good news. Plan to b outside running in 2 weeks and training the week after that. Cnt wait to b back!"

RedManDan

Believable12 Unbelievable2

I thought he was already back training. Damn it.

Percy

Agree8 Disagree0

I dont no why every1 is thinking Cleverley is going to change anything about Utds way of playing. Come on, how many games has he played for utd and against who? people need to wise up

Agree10 Disagree8

Re watch our 1st 5 games of the season then

Agree9 Disagree2

To the above poster....SHUT UP !

Devil Dust.

Agree6 Disagree7

Cleverly plaayed against spurs/arsenal/chelsea. got injured against bolton. returned for game against everton too soon.
if you went to any of the games above you will know that he controlled the midfield and forward play in all them games. we managed to score 14 goals against them 3 sides alone.. and them 3 sides are the 3 teams directly below us.
yes it maybe wrong that we pin our hopes on such an inexperienced player but he is one very talented player, and if not got injured am sure our season would be looking much better..

jay

Agree6 Disagree3

Man city,arsenal...we were a totally different team with him there,i know its early days for him but rooney, anderson and all the other players seemed 2 love playing with him, everything was being done at a higher tempo,we looked sharp and inventive, something we're not now,he may not be the messiah but we sure looked 2 be building a very exciting team when he was there,

Agree5 Disagree1

Clevs is a class act, I got a few mates who support wigan and they reckon he is one of the best midfielders they have seen at the DW. One of them said hes twice the player McCarthy is and I went to Chelsea and Spurs games, He ran both games against Modric, VDV and Lampard and Rameries...Just wish it was sooner.

Agree3 Disagree2

Yeh i'm gunna listen to you aren't I dad I mean devil dust, its plain for everybody to see that Cleverely brought a whole new dimension to our play, completely changed the tempo of the game, hence we scored so many on the break

Agree1 Disagree0

I think devildust is talking about the poster above the poster that is actually above him..

Agree2 Disagree0

Well if you were at the spurs game you would know that modric didnt play in that game. It was around the time that he handed in a request and told harry redknapp he didnt want to play. In other words you are talking through your arse. Both Spurs and Arsenal were going through difficult times when we played them. If we hadnt played them when we did, it could have been a very different story

Agree2 Disagree3

I was talking to the guy that was telling people to wise up about clevs as if he played against nobodies.

Devil Dust.

Agree3 Disagree1

Ahh apologies Devil Dust, my comment and yours must have gone through at the same time, sorry bud

I hear on very good authority that Ole Gunnar is being used as as a sounding board for SAF regarding all future signings.

He has already knocked back Samba as cover for Vidic and apparently has told SAF to get rid of Diouf and Macheda (obviously already happened).

Believable7 Unbelievable8

Wasn't he the reason that Diouf was signed in the first place?

Gar

Agree6 Disagree0

Rubbish! No one tell SAF what to do! Not even the FA!!

Agree8 Disagree1

The plan is to bring OGS back to work alongside mike phelan before eventually taking over from SAF - so the first post could have some truth to it.

Agree6 Disagree3

06 Jan 2012 16:50:19
I've heard through colleagues i work with that Utd have been watching Cieran Clark and Barry Bannan. I understand that interest in Bannan has died down over the last few months for obvious reasons! But there is a definate interest from us in Clark. SAF is keen to use his good relationship with Alex McLeish to get the deal done in January with players possibly going the other way either on loan or permanently as it remains to be seen how long McLeish will stay in the job!

Just passing it on...

Believable4 Unbelievable11

From what I understand we are spending our time trying to wrap up 2 key signings for the summer. so we won't be buying now.

1 player is from another PL club and 1 is in europe.

Believe me I tried for names since 7am this morning but can get no more than this-except to say they just laughed at Lampard.

I was also told it was SAF last summer that wanted to get rid of Nani, lets just hope he's now come to his senses and isn't going down that route again this summer.

And in relation to Sneijder just remember we said no to him because of issues not wage related so I think us going back for him now at any time would be slim.

Vidiv has maintained for the last 15mths that the CM SAF really wants is Modric, lets hope it is.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Absolute nonsense. Of all our midfield and attacking players, Nani had the most appearances this season and last. SAF has publicly praised him for being very consistent and one of our key players. Even gave him a new contract last year. No way his sale will even be considered unless someone like PSG, Anzhi offer upwards of 30m

Agree6 Disagree2

SAF wouldn't want to get rid of Nani, you're talking sh!t.

Also what reason did we say 'no' to Sneijder if it wasn't wage related? ..Did it turn out he was too short to reach the doorbell at OT? i mean come on...

Ozwald

Agree5 Disagree2

We said no to Snijder coz of problems with him of a personal nature off the pitch which if you took the time to look up have come out in some european media. Also its common knowledge that we were trying to offload Nani to Juventus among others but he wouldn't go and SAF liked him that much last season he didn't figure in the CL final so it doesn't sound too off the mark does it. {Ed007's Note - There were talks between Utd and Juventus regarding Nani in the summer, he could have left.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Ozwald-read the euro press on Sneijder and his problems before you diss other posters mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

What problems are those exactly? iv spent over 2hours looking no luck??

The rumour that Sir Alex will retire at the end of this season to be replaced by Mourinho seems to be gathering pace. Hearing lots of speculation that the Special One has bought a house in Prestbury.

Believable9 Unbelievable11

You know an interesting but probably unlikely thought just hit me..ignoring your house buying crap. Why do people make that stuff up? Anyway. What if mour came to work with saf for the last two years of his tenure? If mour was going to take over..just interesting not a wish or a probability.. ..constantine..

06 Jan 2012 15:30:33
With only 6 months left on his contract I would love to see Junior Hoilett join us from Blackburn. He's got huge ability already and is only 21 and would be available for around the £6mil mark. IMO we should've signed him instead of Ashley Young in the summer but hey ho.

Believable11 Unbelievable11

06 Jan 2012 15:28:45
In the summer everyone was posting such good rumours but this time around you guys are lacking creativity. Let me give you a rumour.
Spurs are nearing a deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Ganso for around 20m. Ganso is a long term target of their PL rivals Manchester United who have agreed to step back as Spurs have offered Modric to the Red Devils for 35m.

Believable5 Unbelievable15

06 Jan 2012 14:36:21
Seriously, we should get snjeider now the bale in the summer!

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Brilliant idea mate, this is the sort of forward thinking we need guys. Get Sneijder now and Bale in the summer, simple as that. I'll email United now and get them to pass this master plan on to SAF!

Agree11 Disagree2

No no no......... Lets get Bale in now and Sneijder in the summer :-) .... HERBIE

Agree6 Disagree1

^^^ Sorry mate, sometimes we have to have a little fun, no harm intended.... HERBIE

Agree6 Disagree0

We can all laugh at the post but that's the sort of players we should be looking at . Im sure if the same post was posted in the summer saying get aguero, silva, balotelli and nasri we would of laughed then.

Royal Antwerp are attempting to sign United youngsters John Cofie and Michael Keane on loan, according to reports in Belgium.

oxred

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Sounds likely. The club have been mulling over whether to renew the partnership we used to have with Antwerp a few years back when a whole host of our youngsters such as Gibson, Evans, O'Shea, Fraizer Campbell and Ryan Shawcross went there on loan.

Yohan Cabaye
Samir Nasri
Miralem Pjanic
Javier Pastore
Arturo Vidal
Scott Parker

These all moved in the summer - who can tell me there weren't players available?

Samir Nasri yes he wanted the cash but we could of snapped up any of the other players and every fan knows it.

Sick of the same old excuses - no value for money, right player isnt available.

Every single one of those ive named would have made a difference to our midfield.

Any who says otherwise are blind.

RedDevil92

Believable21 Unbelievable3

I think Pastore wanted the money as well...

Percy

Agree5 Disagree1

Vidal and nasri would of made us complete imo.

Agree9 Disagree3

It wasn't just this summer that was our problem. IMO we made very good signings in the summer and even though we should have added a CM to that list it was before that the problems started. We've known for a while about our midfield issues. We've known Scholes and Giggs could have retired at any of the last 2-3 seasons, we've known about the lack of creativity and bite in the middle of the park for the last 2-3 seasons but we haven't done anything about it. Ozil and Khedira were options and even though we tried for Ozil I personally just don't believe we had really pushed to get him having seen the amount of top players we have been "close to signing" over the past few years. Other players who moved in the summer before last were Van der Vaart, Silva and Di Maria. There are 5 players who we have been linked with over the last 2 years and we in the end haven't come close to getting. Even this summer you look around at some of the talent which has been bought by others that we haven't went for, players like Mata, Vidal, Sanchez and others. You have to ask if we are doing enough to get the players we want? Or are we simply stuck as being a side who make superstars and don't buy them?

Rjmanutd

Agree5 Disagree0

Thats what annoys me. We signed Bebe for roughly £7million or whatever all in - why was he deemed 'the right player' when we could have bought Miralem Pjanic for the same money? Its all speculation - I am thoroughly aware these signings didnt happen in the same window - its just weird.

If SAF is so concerned with 'the right player' being signed, he wouldn't have spent that amount on a player he'd never seen play.

I repeat again, spin. We're being led down the garden path by a man we've trusted intimately for over 20 years. I think SAF is retiring at the end of the season, something is not quite right.

RED_SKY

Agree7 Disagree3

How can anyone blame players wanting more money? people tend to forget football players career ends around 35 yrs. what happens to players that have been bred at the club and are branded not good enough? they get ship out. i think it is fair for someone having the talent and wanting more money. how many amongst you would shift to another company willing to give you better wages. after all those players are human.
red mancunia

So Lampard's a possibillity.... A leader on the pitch, a goal scorer, proven in the league but 33yr old. He would be a short term solution (3yr tops) until the young lads are ready, I think it could work but I have doubts as to would he want to move to us. What do you guys think.... HERBIE

Believable10 Unbelievable10

Better than the attacking mids we have, so why not?

JK

Agree5 Disagree2

Correct me if I'm wrong but in SAF's interview today he rules out Lampard and then says he understands fans wanting United to buy but why buy second rate players who won't get a game when everyones fit! Is he calling Fat Frank second rate? I hope so! Don't want him near the club although for banter reasons with the chelsea fans would be great!

Agree5 Disagree4

Hasn't Fergie said "no foundations' ti this one?

RebelRed

Agree1 Disagree1

Idiots man! it would be shocking to see. what do you plonkers think his wages would be? 3 years? why would a top club want him? he cant get in the chelsea team and they are doing worse then we are. people just jump on anything at all its pathetic

Divvy the red

Agree4 Disagree1

No more failed donkeys please. We already have a stable full of them.

Cantrubian

Agree6 Disagree1

It is funny one minute he is to old and slow then united want him and he is a great world class player with three more years left in him lol

Agree6 Disagree0

You lot having a laugh? Frank Lampard would not move to man utd after spending the majority of his career at Chelsea. He knows that with his age he can't play every game because he could risk a lengthy injury again, also knowing that for the good of the clubs he's gotta step aside to let the younger players prove themselves in the same way giggsy is doing for us. Also Chelsea know that if they have any chance of staying within the top four, they're going to need a big squad with experience so why would they sell him mid season? GET REAL people was never going to happen.

Ozwald

Agree3 Disagree1

We need someone quick, energetic and creative he doesnt fit that bill imo. plus he's 33. plus he'd want huge wages. plus he'd throw a strop if not playing

so i'd say no...on many levels

Gav

Agree4 Disagree2

Divvy the red........ Whats with the name calling fella? I'm not saying lets go get him, I would rather get someone like Sissoko for the money mentioned but lets face it, he is better than Gibson, Park, Rafael(who's played CM), and Giggs(at the moment). Wages and age go against him for me, I would deffinately rather have someone else in.... HERBIE

Agree1 Disagree0

Haha LAMPARD a leader...dont make me laugh

Herbie you brought it up and say it would work for three years, massive fail and it is pathetic

I dont want Lampard to come but come off it ...Failed Donkey? Not a leader? Like him or not which i particularly dont, Lampard has been one of the best goal scoring midfielders that the premiership has ever seen. He may be a chelsea pensioner but I at least respect the lad as a player!
REDNEV

Agree2 Disagree0

Ste73, yes i brought it up to ask what people thought and my actual words were " i think it COULD work" he has vast expierience which is what we are missing in the CM right now so it could actually work but different opinions is what makes this site what it is.... HERBIE

Agree1 Disagree0

I think it would work, for all say it wont. back up your reasons why it wont.
he is a leader, he has been vice captain for years. he demands the ball at chelsea at anytime in a match, winning/losing. his pass accurcy is good too. yes he is good at the over the top ball for drogba, but isnt that the ball that chico loves too. who plays them balls at the min.

who infact apart from cleverly in our CM can pass the ball consistantly. none.

This is why i think he would suit us as a stopgap.

Is there any further news on the Gibson loan to burnley?

Also whats all this about a madrid player being on his way?

Ed? {Ed007's Note - I don't know anything about any Madrid player, sorry, but my cousin from NI text me this morning to say Gibson was going to Everton?}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

As i live and work in liverpool, i have heard about gibson to everton for awhile now. alot of evertonians dont feel they need him directly, as a striker is there main priority.. but with there squad thread bare any player for them is a bonus. not much money if any available.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.

Sport says Ferguson made an enquiry about Kaka’s availability at the beginning of November, but was informed by Real president Florentino Perez that he was not for sale.

This morning, it’s been revealed Florentino is reviving his plans for Wayne Rooney and is willing to pay £60 million for the striker.

A swap involving Kaka, whose creativity is just what Ferguson’s midfield is lacking, cannot be discounted

is the closest thing i could find

Alfredo Di Stefano is coming out of retirement to solve our problems.
