Duncan Castles reports that United may make January for either Bruno Soriano Or Javi Martinez

I dount we'll get Javi Martinez in January more likely in the summer if we are indeed in for him, would love him at United. Class act and exactly what we need. I believe we have scouted him in recent seasons.

Ed 002 my thoughts entirely, it wouldn't make much sense to sell him in Jan unless they got a stupid offer for him. Much more likely to be summer. But we do need to bring in a body in Jan. If we do at all i am convinced it will be someone of the likes of Bruno who wouldn't break the bank or Rodwell who wouldn't need to take half a season to settle in. Rincewind.

I doubt Martinez would be available till Summer. And if he was available in January, he wouldn't come cheap. Could we win in a bidding war? Would we get involved? If we are going to buy anyone in January it is more likely to be a modest priced player like this Bruno character. Or we wont buy in January at all and just save the money till Summer.

I was told a few weeks ago that Inter Milan may make a bid for Javi in January if they decide not to take Juraj Kucka from co-owners Genoa. I am not convinced that Bilboa will want to sell the player in January.}

IMO we are just one midfielder away from being back to our best. Look how much better Cleverley makes us, imagine him with Martinez next to him and Rooney dropping back into midfield making up a midfield three of Cleverley, Martinez & Rooney. That would be a quality midfield trio. I would also take a huge look at Alba for LB. Then we will have three Spaniards that know each other very well and that can only improve their performances and keep them happy at the club.

Since summer I was hoping for Javi Martinez to be bought and as stated you know I said a few times I preferred him to Sneijder.

My earlier point was why go for the cheaper option of Bruno? Why does everyone go for the cheap option on here?

In January if we do become active in the market let us get what we need not the cheap option.

De Gea is the only Spanish player with us and I would guess another may also help him.

Javi Martinez for me unless Oezil or maybe Gotze suddenly becomes available, but if it is Javi lets not look upon him as the immediate saviour.

Agree with Sydney. If Martinez is up for grabs then I'd go for him all day long. {Ed007's Note - OOOhhhhh Matron ;-)

I would 100% go for Martinez, He is a quality player, but I think during the January window Soriano could be the only one of the two that is available to buy. Lets not forget Soriano being 27 would be a stop gap until the Pogba & Tunnicliffe are ready and then he could replace Evra at LB and be a back-up in the meantime. Would prefer Martinez, but feel Soriano is a good shout for what will actually happen.

He is not the cheap option, he is a good player and is available for that price as he is not as young as most. Good buy imo, could cover both like Syd mentioned.

Bruno Soriano is a big shout, he can play in midfield and at LB and would cost around £7m.
