Been watching Franco di Santo. I really think he should be considered. He has skill and control and know how to finish. I think we should sell Hernandez and buy di Santo. What do you guys think?

Believable1 Unbelievable61

No. An alright player but Hernandez is much better.

Agree1 Disagree0

It took him over 50 games to get a goal and last year I think nearly all his goals where deflected.

Caolán.

Agree2 Disagree0

Ha hernandez scored more in his first season than di santo has in about 5 years, ridiculous! Scouser alert

Agree1 Disagree0

Is this the kind of average Joe we are expected to sign these days? Nowhere near good enough, get your head out your ass!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree- hernandez not up to utd level so move him on
disagree- di santo no way ! need to improve on hernandez not drop

Agree0 Disagree0

Definately not

Agree0 Disagree0

Di santo looks good in about 2 games per season then goes missing for the rest not good enough for utd,i also think chico is on borrowed time unless he starts banging some goals in.

What are peoples thoughts for the role that Jones will play when he is fit? I can't see it being RB as Rafael will play most games, and there are a number of players in the heart of the defence that are ahead of him ... This leads you to think that it will be as a central midfielder - but I wouldn't think as part of a midfield 2. Does this then imply that we may be playing 4-3-3 more so? Midfield of perhaps Jones, Cleverly & Anderson/Scholes/Carrick?

Fresh!

Believable9 Unbelievable5

A midfield of Jones Cleverley and Anderson would be incredible!

I think he will be a utility man until a space becomes available to him or he raises his game. If he learns about being a holding mid (Improved positioning and reading of the game) then he could be a top maybe even world class player in that position. I do worry about him at CB because smaller nippy strikers do turn him quite easily. He is a player I am really excited about though for the future. Give him a year or two and he will be fantastic and if he could work on not getting turned he could also be a top top CB IMO.

I think long term he'll be a CB but in the short term i see him getting more games in midfield as he can learn about positioning fine tune his defending in midfield with the safety net of a couple of CB's behind him incase he slips up. I don't think he'll be a long term answer to our DM issue as he isn't good enough technique wise to play there against the best teams.

Sir bobby charlton said that jones reminds him of duncan edwards and that is good enough for me as any body who played in that era says duncan edwards was better than pele cruyff or maradona or beckenbeur

Agree3 Disagree0

Said the day we got him he should play DM. For me he is a very good player who can play RB, CB or wathing him last year with the ball at his feet any where in the midfield, he will be a great player one day in my opinion and not just a good player (not quite there yet), will be good to get him back and i hope DM.

This Wanayama Rumour is going around again. I know arsenal is fav but he is a class.
His work so hard, has energy and hunger.
He can tackle very well and strong build.
He scores
He has good long and short passes.
I know there can be never another Keano! But Wanayama is be good replacement.
He or M'vila should be in our radar. We should atleast buy one.

Let me know,

Lads, forget about any DM coming in whilst SAF is still in charge. Won't happen, no matter how much we might want it. He'll stick with Fletcher when fit. Not what we want necessarily but recent history would strongly suggest this.

Agree1 Disagree0

Well while he can play as a defensive midfielder and a centre back if needs be however he prefers to play as a box to box centre mid, he can score goals.

SAF saying Smalling could start on Sunday. I hope he replaces Rio in the line up!

Believable18 Unbelievable19

And Buttner for Evra. Defensive problems over. We need consistency with selection.,

Smalling being fit is exactly what we need IMO. A pacey solid defender is what is letting us down with Ferdy getting turned over like pancake I hope Smalling starts on the weekend as reported.

Believable15 Unbelievable7

I'd love to see Smalling back but only if he's ready. I don't wanna see him rushed back only for him to break down again like Vidic. I'd rather play Wootton then risk Smallings long term fitness.

Shappy

Agree5 Disagree0

Excellent point Shappy! I think we rush players back to quickly. Much rather play Wootton than risk him to early

Mike

More likely to play in Mondays u21 game as he has been out along time.
Raffa

We are all quick to complain about rio but dont forget he was the difference between us winning or losing at anfield.
johndenton

Agree1 Disagree1

What its Rio's turn to get the rubbish ripped out of him now is it?

Just because Bale out paced him and lets be fair there arent many defenders can stay with him

We are starting to sound like the damned scousers

Pardoe

Agree1 Disagree1

It's not just the Bale situation. Defoe skinned him going nowhere from the touchline for another goal and overall he has been poor this season and last (although he finished well last season).
