Can anyone give me an overall assessment on James Rodriguez?, is he a decent player? Worth the touted 20-25m people are throwing around, also I'd like to know who you think the most viable option in the midfield would
be? For me its Modric, I think the Hazard rumours are all a lie the cover up a Modric switch to Old Trafford.. What do you guys think?

{Ed022's note - Rodriguez has already been done you muppet ;)}

{Ed007's Note - I've got a life and don't sit 24/7 reading about players while waiting on BGT to come on. Young ones *rolls eyes*}

Modric doesn't bring enough for the money imo

Hi does anyone know anything more about pogba contract? I heard that he had signed a pre contract with juve but dont know if that means its done and dusted or if he can still decide to stay with us. I know if he does go we will get a development fee but does this increase dependent on first team appearances? Here is hoping for 3 points tomoz as I still think there will be more twists before the end of the season. I hope pogba stays as him petrucci and brady look capable of being first teamers next season. bookedredmole

From what the Ed's have said recently, the whole contract situation is in the same position. United are in negotiations with his agent, but his agent is also looking elsewhere. I think Pogba's agent may be waiting until the time when he can contact PL teams which is around May(?). I think I speak for most people on here in saying that I hope he signs for us. Big presence in the middle and wonderful distributor of the ball.

SAF maybe interested in Grant Hanley it seems as if he was impressed by his performance against us on Monday,
Although Steve Jean has warned him off.

Must have been the forearm smash on Scholes that caught his eye - perhaps he's thinkin about beefing up security - couldn't possibly be footballing ability

Agree0 Disagree0

Please no he has never been united quality. I accept he had a good game against us but one swallow does not make it spring.

Agree0 Disagree0

But it does make a good night

okay i cant understand one thing,
people here are quoting cissokho(sp) as a cheap Lb, well Lyon got him a few years ago for 10 million pounds(somewhere near that), why would they sell for less?
also if any one of the Ed's could clarify on as to why he failed his medical at AC Milan?, heard it was a spinal issue.. would it be safe signing him , keeping that in mind?
DJ {Ed002's Note - The issue was with his teeth that may have been indicative of spinal problems. It is nothing to worry about.}

Has anybody looked at Tiote at Newcastle in recent months, he looks like a young Essien,good range of passing,great in the tackle,good shot,great engine & a real in yer face centre midfielder which is something weve not had since Keano in his pomp. MIDDLETON RED.

Believable11 Unbelievable15

He has poor passing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Passing is his only downfall unfortunately. I think someone like Chelsea or Arsenal would have signed him by now if he was better on the ball.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Like i said before, he's a good tactician along with a strong body he goes in to a tackle with a lot of confidence, pretty aggressive. I like that about him. I think it's fair to say his passing isn't consistent, but luckily passing is one of those things in football where practice makes perfect. With better coaching and training he could improve...

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Always said we should had signed him, i mean has anyone watched Carrick play? his passes at least 85% of the time are no more than 5-10 yards sideways... i'm sure Tiote can do that

melwing28

Agree0 Disagree0

Great range of passing????? short pass back or a hoofed clearance is the range of passingof Chiek Tiote

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think anyone will come near our players after the great pony tail sting withliverpool. 30 million is too much for you guys?.
Anyway although we love him at Toon he is out an awful lot with injuries ANC and suspensions.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're suggesting MAN UTD sign a midfielder who can't pass.

I don't see how we can beat Barcelona and other top European teams having another player who can't keep hold of the ball.

How does Tiote improve on the players we already have?

Liverpool page seems to reckon that Muniain is high on there wish list for the summer most there fans seem to think if you are interested in a player you will get him...But if they were to make a move for Muniain ED do you think Bilbao would consider selling him? i think a move to Barcelona in a couple of years is destined for him?

RED91 {Ed002's Note - Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao - and the two clubs in England that were approached were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros. They won't get it because I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has had some off field issues. Roma interest is still there but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

Believable4 Unbelievable0

They may be targets of Liverpool, but they will also be targets of other clubs who can offer them bigger salaries and Champions League football. Even clubs that are not currently looking at them would become interested if they did become available. I am not convinced that Liverpool will have a lot to spend this summer so could not afford to get into a bidding war. I think if Soldado or Munian became available there would be more than ten clubs interested in them both, most able to offer more than Liverpool. So they may well be Liverpool's targets, but they are light-years away from signing them.

Hey all,just a quick question for the ed's,are we watching james rodriguez?its looking like we are gonna buy an am/winger,cm and clyne.any news or thoughts?please not gaitan! {Ed002's Note - As of a couple of weeks ago, two clubs had spoken to Porto about James Rodrigues and Manchester United was not one of them. Bayern Munich have been looking carefully at Rodrigues as an alternative to Dries Mertens. The other club is Palermo. I would not be surprised if Manchester United had been having the player watched but they may be reluctant to pay the sort of fee Porto would be looking for. As for Gaitan, Manchester United and Barcelona both showed interest in the winger but PSG or Napoli may still be the first to eventually put an offer on the table for Gaitan. Asking price is and will be an issue. My understanding is that Manchester United and PSG did speak with Benfica in January but no bid was made. I understand that it remains the case that no firm bid has been made but Benfica are aware of sustained interest.}

Believable8 Unbelievable2

It makes me wonder why Bayern are looking at either Rodriguez or Mertens considering they've already wrapped up a deal to bring Xherdan Shaqiri in? Similar players.. I think one thing is for certain and that is Robben i leaving in the summer.

Ozwald {Ed002's Note - But they are looking.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree no gaiten plzz. James Rodriguez is a better prospect. Also if Anderson and nani leave along with berba, Owen, macheda, park, what's the odds on fergie replacing these players not much. Also ed what's the chances of fergie going for Martinez, Lucas moura, Rodriguez, a lb in the summer as it looks like we have interest in all these players. This is the biggest summer of saf reign as united manager to build his next young team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed002 much appreciated.id love hazard,clyne and martinez this summer but i guess thats just wishful thinking. We will probably sign clyne and 2 nobodys..

Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be considering a £70million pound move for three athletic bilbao starlets in the summer Oscar de marcos, Javi Martinez and Iker Muniain......

Well i hope its true about muniain and martinez not sure on de marcos and perhaps rodriguez would be better than muniain

Thoughts???????

Believable5 Unbelievable24

Don't rely on Caughtoffside for transfer news.

What so bilbao are just going to sell their core of their team? ridiculous.

I love how we loose to Bibao and everyone seems to think we are going to sign their players. this is something that City would do!

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair Llorente and Martinez would be great signings but a lot of clubs will be chasing them if they become available. Martinez would be a outstanding asset to United. Awsome player...
