Wesley sneijder says he is for sale if the right offer comes in but hasn't talked to either Manchester clubs

(sorry cut and paste)

He told Voetbal International: "All I know is that Inter need money and that I'm for sale if the right offer comes in.

"I have five days off after the international friendly against England on Wednesday. I expect clarity on my future by then.

"I can be very brief about the interest from Manchester United and City: I haven't spoken with either of those two clubs, so I can't really say much about my future at the moment."

I agree. Ive thought for over a year that Cleverley looks a VERY good player

Wesley Sneijder has finally admitted that hes "for sale" as inter "need money"
Earlier in the month david gill said "if the right player comes available" than man utd will be interested in sigining him. Looks like the right player is avaible now. W.S is on his way to man utd. though i believeee we dont need him, after todays performance. any1 else think that Cleverley looked reallly good in the CM?

Believable20 Unbelievable3

I hope Wesley does come to be honest, but cleverly was brilliant today Imagine an attacking midfield of ws, cleverly, young and nani Immense

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with first reply. Cleverly was first class today but think that reinforcements in the form of Schneider or someone similar would be welcome. I reckon another experienced top performer will strenghthen our grip on the title for next year.

Anderson looked as good as he ever has today too, let's hope he doesn't get injured again like usual when he has a good run in the team

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Tom was amazing today, better than anderson already which says a lot about his potential However this still doesn't change the fact we need sneijder, don't be fooled but we were only playing man city today and we all know they're only good to an extent.. We'd need Wesley for europe, imagine cleverly and sneijder though, young and quick alongside skill and experience.. our midfield would equal the best in the world..

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom cleverly and anderson were exceptional today but in my opinion we still need a world class mid so sneijder would be perfect.....as for cleverly , welbeck , etc this will be the season there blooded into our 1st team

Agree0 Disagree0

Cleverly was energetic and enterprising in attack. He was fearless and attentive in defense. He played a lot like Sneijder when he's keen in my opinion. I agree that maybe a midfield reinforcement would be a good idea but is a 35Million pound signing the sort that we need? I'd say not now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cleverley is a young talented midfielder, but he is not the finished article or experienced enough to take on the role of Scholes.
We need a world class player for that role, even Gill hints at that......

Agree0 Disagree0

We do not need sneijder he has at best 4 more years in him if we truly want to see cleverley develop into the player his potential promises then we have the best man to coach him in paul scholes

Agree0 Disagree0

We need Sneijder, dont be fooled.... Even though Cleverly played brilliantly well yesterday he isn't a finished product, he lacks experience. If you watched the game closely and see how he played and watch a couple of sneijder's games you will see similarities in both. Imo if sneijder is brought in he could only tutor the lad to be finish finish product United and England wants him to be? diego

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, Cleverley, he played great and he has got credit, Young also played great and he has got credit. Nani, the same applies. Well, Evans played class too, so well done Evans. Gilly

Believable20 Unbelievable3

Verdict still out on Evans, huge mistake early on could have cost us against a decent team but to be fair he did recover well. Still makes too many silly mistakes for me

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree, I wish he would stop playing him, he is a liability and should only be called upon if something is wrong with vidic, Ferdinand, jones and smalling The rest of the team were superb today Excellent result

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye - maybe, great comeback but early signs of de gea worry me

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I disagree, he made some good passes he he made some great tackles, granted, he lost the ball occasionally but he played well overall. Gilly

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't agree about Young, he looked ordinary. He didn't go past Richards once. Toni and Nani are in a different class to Young. Don't worry about De Gea, he'll come good. Was impress he didn't let his head drop and had a good 2nd half. Ist goal was a communication problem between him and Reo. Second goal a mistake, but even Schmichael made one or two mistakes. Give the guy a few games. We still need one or two in midfield. Just like one game doesn't make De Gea a bad goalkeeper, one game by Cleverley doesn't make him an answer to our midfielder problem. It was only the community shield, things will get tougher.

Great result today lads and a great performance really got the better of City in midfield today.
SAF was asked after the game by ITV if United will sign anyone else and he said NO i don't think so.
Does this mean we will go with what we have and that the Sneijder deal is dead?
Have to say I have criticised Anderson plenty of times on here but he was great today and really hope he can keep it up to prove me wrong.

Red Daz.

Game was on sky not itv so think you talkin cak

Agree0 Disagree0

ITV showed highlights at 18:00 and their interview with ferguson was shown after the match highlights

Agree0 Disagree0

De gea not good though - got me worried - bad mistake for second goal

Agree0 Disagree0

YES, ITV did show Alex Ferguson's comment I feel and always thought Cleverley is the answer to one of our midfield problems

Don?Ǭ¥t worry about De Gea. I remember Vidic and Evra in their first games. Look what happened with them.

Very good player in the mould of cafu imo if he continues to develop will be one of the best right backs in world football

Stated that Sneijder future will be revealed next week. Cleverley performance was great none the less. Well that is said, still say Nasri should be a snatch alongside the growing Cleverley. Like to see that duo.

Believable12 Unbelievable2

Trouble is if we played 2 wingers, Nasri and Cleverley, who'd protect our back 4. It would mean Wazza playing at top by himself and playing Jones or someone to play the "holding"role. It would mean not playing Chico

Anyone else heard the latest interview on talksport with marcel van der kraan (dutch correspondent who has close links with wesley sneijder)??
He says that Sneijder WILL be a United player by 1st September....
....Lets wait & see

On a separate note, what a great performance by the lads today. Everyone really played their part. Thought Ando was immense in the centre of the park and Cleverley was pulling the strings when he came on at half time....and with Smalling, Jones, De Gea, Welbeck etc etc the futures very bright at United

Here's to another successful season

Anyone else think a post-it note would do a better job of staying in the left back position than Evra?.

Lost count of how many times Young, Ando, Evans have covered across just this half alone.

Jono

Believable9 Unbelievable12

I think the majority of us were hoping last season was burnout from France's disasterous world cup and he would be back to his old self this season. After today, I not so sure.

J Bones.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are you slating him for doing what he does best and so what are you complaining about

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said comment number 2. Evra isn't just about covering the defence, he gets forward and so gives that attacking threat. That is one reason why Nani wasn't as good on the left as he has to make sure he covers Evra over there and that seriously limits him although some other wingers like Valencia, Park and Young are able to do that as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kinda have to agree with the post. Evra had a shocker last season and yes Evra is there to defend as well as get forward. He was sloppy today, gave City a great chance and on another day could have got sent off. Was the weak link in a superb team performance. Can give him the benefit of the doubt today as he's probably not up to full speed for the new season yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have being saying this 4 ages,he,s been at fault 4 so many goals in the last 12 months,he,s so confident in his ability that he,s getting complacent and is 2 cocksure he'll make up the ground, his positional sense is lazy, needs 2 get back 2 doing the basics well, his no.1 job has 2 be in defence and everything is a bonus

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2011 16:00:51
Nani's goal was simply unbelievable. If barca ha done something like that it would talked about for weeks. We've upped the tempo thankfully and were pressing all over the pitch. Brilliant start to the half.

Rjmanutd

Believable14 Unbelievable2

I totally agree it was breathtaking, the difference in the 2nd half is that carrick isnt on the pitch,he slows the play down way to much, jones looks a class act phil

Agree0 Disagree0

RJ

Completely agree - great 1/2 touch passing - amazing movement - composed finish - but best of all it was a combination of the great young talent we have in the squad. i can see Cleverley getting the young player of the year award (if he still qualifies) if we dont buy an expensive player to fill the position.

Paso

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani proves once again he is a class act and a game-winner. Hopefully this performance will silent some of his critics and we can all get behind Nani this season. He could play a big part in Man U's success IMO p.s. Cleverly looks impressive again. Dont bother with Sneider : )

Agree0 Disagree0

Watching from Boston over in the US - only one game, but added to an impressive pre season, definitely pointing to a great season...real hunger on the pitch.

Interesting that there was a lot of energy, movement and pressing in the opposition half - Wellbeck and Cleverly are always looking to nick the ball - same with the goals against Barca over here.

Thought Smalling was surprisingly brilliant at right back, and Young and Anderson were involved throughout - squad definitely stronger than last season.

De Gea should have saved the second but will be fine and pushed hard by Lindegard.

Competition for places will add a real edge to the team this season.

Whoever finishes about Manchester United wins the League.

Scotbos (Scot long time living in Boston)

I am madrid fan but sorry Barca does it every week, great goal though..
still think if you play Barca next week with that midfield you'll get outplayed totally.

My source has once again said that the Sneijder deal is virtually complete. He said that the fee has been agreed and so have personal terms. He also said that the medical will take place next week when Sneijder is in England with Holland. Should be completed by the West Brom game. Don't know how true it is but he has links to people high up at United

MUFC 19

Believable32 Unbelievable9

I like this "my source " bit. You mean the newspapers, twitter, websites or mates. Only SAF, David Gill, the board, The Inter equivalents, the player and his representatives and family really know. I think there's more chance he won't come. But who cares? There are better deals to be had
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

These Sneijder rumours are forever changing. They're giving me a headache now

The more they drag on, the more I think he won't be coming to Old Trafford. I hope he does... we need a player like him in our midfield but I can't see it at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

My source is not the papers or the media. It's an actual person Maybe it hard to believe but he is a close friend of mine who wouldn't lie to me.

MUFC 19

Agree0 Disagree0

I would think if a deal is to be done it would be before the Holland match but who knows.... Lets just enjoy the new season what ever happens.... COME ON UTD, LETS AV IT.... HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

Inter boss said his future will be settled next week. We will see.

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence MUFC 19 but Mik is right. All this information has been circulated through various media for a few days now. It's a sensible summary of current speculation and quite possibly correct, but no more than that. Ryan

Agree0 Disagree0

This is quite simply a long negotiation (and quite boring when read daily). We want Sneijder (I believe) and Inter want to sell. Both parties are playing hard ball - who will blink first? Personally I believe SAF is ready to walk away from the deal if Inter and WS refuse to lower their demands. Inter need the deal more than us. Expect negotiations to run another 2/3 weeks.

Quality player, would love to see him in red - United to get their man for £30m before the window closes I reckon.

hey ED what do think aboutr Man Utd's chances of signing Mario Goetze, That kid looks lot better than Nasri and far less injury prone to WS {Ed002's Note - Slim at best.}

Believable4 Unbelievable10

What is all this about mario? he's a good player but he only got his place in borussia dortmund's first team when shinji kagawa broke a metatarsal playing in the asian cup, i really think there is too much hype surrounding him.. Kagawa himself is a better player in the same position while also having experience in other positions as they're a similar age and valued at about £20 mil why is it Goetze and not Kagawa that everyone is on about?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because he got a chance once another player was injured means nothing. A lot of people get injured and clubs find out that they have quality to back them up while they are injured. Also the players realize that they have a chance with a club to make an impression. Bottom line is he is class, yes kagawa is class as well, but i would personally prefer to have them both :) but that isn't possible.

MUFC Till I Die

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotze was appearing regularly on the wing long before Kagawa's injury, but it did allow him to move into his preferred position behind the striker. Gotze is a really talented footballer but I don't see United moving for him due to the similarity to Cleverley.

Agree0 Disagree0

The first reply is ridiculous. He may have got his chance because Kagawa was injured but have you ever actually seen Goetze play? For his age (19) he is a quality player and will only improve

Any Truth in the Jelavic rumours ?
alot of talk of it here in Glasgow and that Owen is going to Rangers on loan

Believable2 Unbelievable17

Not sure why Owen would go on loan? I think he only signed for this next season. I could be wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would united give owen a new contract and then send him on loan??

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no Jelevic rumors in England. I doubt there's much of a rumor in Scotland, it's just a handful of you guys. Maybe Notts Forest or someone of that level may bid £3m-£5m for him. He wouldn't get in United's reserve team. You must be the same guy who comes up with this rubbish every month or so --- give it a rest
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

I live in Glasgow & there are NO such rumours. The only place this story exists is on here. {Ed007's Note - Well said, there are no rumours about it except Rangers fans trying to make a mediocre player a superstar.}

Am I the only person slightly disappointed that Obertan is leaving? I just think he could be a quality player, once he gets his head sorted. I hope we have a buy back clause.

Sambo

Believable21 Unbelievable11

Yes,i think you're on your own mate. Not United class whatsoever.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi i am a newcastle fan and heard GABRIEL Obertan will sign for Newcastle early next week on a loan deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Sambo you are not on your own.
I believe Obertan could still become a brilliant player in the EPL and I really hope united will put an option to buy back at some stage in future.
The guy has it all and with a bit of confidence could be a world beater imo.

Red Knight.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe he hasn't got the head for a top 4 team yet so needs to ply his trade in a mid table team and make a name of himself. Hes and athlete and knows where the goal is with quick feet. He'll do good else where but he wasnt ready for united.

The Glazer mob are ready to sell a part of Manchester United to cut the debts

www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/News-Manchester-United-owners-Glazer-family-to-sell-25-stake-in-club-article782144.html#ixzz1UIEg0o7f

Believable9 Unbelievable9

Manchester United is a worldwide phenomenon. I don't think Glazers will sell any time soon. Despite the debt, they're still making a lot of money. That's why they won't sell.

I believe that sooner or later, Man City's spending power will take effect and the time will come where they'll be the number 1 team in England. I don't think it'll be for a few years yet though but, when it does happen... that's when I think the Glazers will sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've read a few things from different sources that 1 of the rich arab peeps may buy Man Utd this year , possibly in September after the window shuts(1.6 Billion is quoted). This 'rumour' seems to have gathered a bit of pace recently but I'll believe it only when i see it.... HERBIE

Agree0 Disagree0

To the person that thinks City will be the Number 1 team in England. Not a chance my friend. I would agree with you if there was no FFP rules coming in. We are a global super power with major history and a cracking (relatively young team). Despite having the deepest pockets City will not be able to spend £50million + each window as they simply don't generate the same level of income. If City think they will be able to sell big in order to buy big, they have another thing coming. Just think about how much they have spent on the likes of Bellamy, Cruz, Adebayor, SWP to name a few. How much money can they demand for these players? The more they raise players wages, the tougher it becomes to move them on. Consequently, they have to sell them for a cut price. City are going to have to start to be more strategic in their pursuit of players. Simply outbidding the opposition is not a model that will work in the long term provided the FA and UEFA have a firm stance on the FFP rules.
