Ajax youth coach Richard Witschge quoted as saying Daley Blind is training alone and he is expecting him to be leaving imminently.

We seem now to be linked with every player in the world. Personally paying 60 million for Di Maria is madness! We should get behind tgevlikes of lingaard, the keanes, wilson and the other young players or we will have a group of pogbas!

Hi Ed's

Do we have any interest in Mehdi Benatia or Fredy Guarin?

Thanks a lot

Believable7 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from a number of sides in Benatia but his cost puts people off. There has been previous interest in FG.}

Ed are united 1 of the teams showing interest in benatia

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Wow what a surprise, I never thought we would be interested in him. One of my favourite defenders currently and always thought Manchester city or Bayern Munich will get the deal done.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed are Utd looking to negotiate his cost?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean.}

Wenger confirms we have bid for Vermaelen. I think if he stays fit he could be a good addition.

Believable26 Unbelievable12

There was a very good piece about Vermaelns injuries on sportswitness where last Feb he was told to have 3 weeks of at least but he played 3 games in a week (He was rubbish) by having injections,

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger has confirmed Vermaelen COULD leave, and the Man Utd COULD be in a group of teams interested in him. Hardly confirming a bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Have we received bids? Yes. I can't tell you who from but you will know very soon, " Wenger said. "Are Manchester United one of the teams to have made an offer? I think they could be in the group.Ideally, yes, we would like to sell him abroad and that is an option for us."

I'm taking that as read we have. They'd rather sell to Barca, both teams would rather have Hummels but he's going to be hard to get. Vermaelen needs to weigh up third choice at Barca or starter for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reddub -

Arsene Wenger is an experienced manager. He'll have known exactly how his comments would be spun by the press and I doubt very much that he'd have made them if we weren't very interested in the player and there wasn't a good chance he'd be leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I would rather get vermalen rather than hummels as he has the premier league experience and I also hope that we get de Jong instead of Vidal

Agree1 Disagree3

Sred4893, Is that you Joel? Avram? Edward? Darcie? Kevin?

Agree1 Disagree0

Sydney I'm just saying that I think that hummels is going to cost a lot of money for someone who doesn't have pace and when your playing 3 at the back u can't be exposed by a quick striker!! Also if the club wanted Vidal we would of got him by now I would like de Jong now and stroitman in January and then spend decent money on di maria

It can't stay from here for too long. various places now reporting we agreed a 5 year deal for Vidal. And he is about to complete move by early next week.
BACK ON. :)

Believable28 Unbelievable33

It's an odd saga. Unlike Fabregas last summer there have been times when the Vidal deal has looked possible - but there's something not quite right about it.

If both the club and the player wanted it to happen enough I can't help but feel it would have happened two weeks ago. All I can think of is that one side isn't 100% sure. There's talk of his injury being a concern - but I don't buy into that one bit. My guess is that Vidal isn't too fussed either way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Juve do not complete their Asia tour until 16th August so it's certainly not going to be next week, can't see them taking AV only to release him half way through the tour

Agree0 Disagree0

Langers - If a deal is confirmed I doubt very much they will care about him leaving the tour.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why langers? I mean if he wants to go and the club except a fee for why would they not want to release him regardless if he's gone on tour or not :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Stranger things have happened

mbd

UTD have had weeks to close this deal, the wages on offer are huge enough to turn any players head, Juve are desperate for money so all that's needed is to negotiate a fee, I know transfers are not always as simple as that but this seemed a transfer that would suit all parties that's why I couldn't understand why it wasn't concluded prior to the tour until rumours of the injury circulated. Now I'm thinking that UTD have allowed him to go on tour to prove AV is over his knee injury and if so then expect the deal to be concluded after 16th August

Agree0 Disagree1

Langers -

Vidal isn't going to be taking part in any of the tour games by the looks of things. He's not even training at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get me wrong I for one would love to see this deal happen straight away, just find it odd that a club would take a player to Asia and Australia with no intention of playing him, why not leave him at home to concentrate on fitness and if a deal happens then everything gets sorted that bit quicker?

Just been speaking to an Arsenal fan who works in the same Hospital as me, he always seems genuine when we chat about Football but certainly not "in the know". He tells me Vermaelen has no interest in going to Barcelona and he's nailed on for a move to Utd. He says its an 11m fee and will be completed any time soon. Obviously it could be complete rubbish but I guess we'll find out soon. Also said when he's fit and has a run of games he's as good as anyone. Rates him very highly. Just thought i'd pass on what he said.

Believable26 Unbelievable18

I think he'd be a good signing. Not as good as Hummels - but better than Vlaar, De Vrij, Martins Indi and some of the other mediocre players we have been linked with.

Agree1 Disagree1

If he can stay injury free

Agree0 Disagree0

A newspaper are running a story that TV already has a verbal agreement in place with UTD to join on £100k per week, don't think he's worth that or the supposedly £15m fee some tabloids are mentioning

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he did know something after all hey

Anybody else think that IF Vermaelen was to happen, then wouldn't Inigo Martinez be a good option to put alongside him and Jones in the back 3?

Agree1 Disagree0

Nope. He's already moved to Porto anyway.
