Solskjaer in the running for the Q.P.R job, Do any of you think that would be a good move for him?

Believable7 Unbelievable22

It's the next step for him so yea, it's got to be a good move.... HERBIE

Agree5 Disagree6

Well i seem to remember SAF saying not too long ago that he shouldn't move to england just yet..

Ozwald

Agree10 Disagree5

Would like to see him there, see what he has when it comes to managing at the highest level.. I rated Warnock, so if he can do a job at QPR replacing him, he can't be too bad.

Agree7 Disagree3

I don't think he should leave molde just yet, he's just won the title there. Give him at least another year of experience before throwing him in at the deep end.

Sanshine

Agree7 Disagree1

These days people (especially in the football world) seem hell bent on getting to the top as quickly as possible, driven by glory or greed or whatever. it's just the world we live in i guess (im only 27 by the way i know im making myself sound 50+ lol)

In an ideal world he should stay where he is for another season or two IMO he has plenty of time and theres something to be said about working your way up steadily, gaining as much from different experiences as possible

If he went to QPR and took them down (which could happen even if he did the job well) it could set his promising career back 5 years i reckon

Anyway Hughes has arrived at Loftus Road for talks now so I guess my point is irrelevant :/

Gav

Agree1 Disagree0

I think solskjaer should stay at molde for at least another season so can deal with the pressure of being champions (and being the team to beat)
i also think it would be best for him to take up an international position (if available) to build his experience and international rep so to improve his draw for top quality players before he (hopefully) ends up at utd
this would mean that he would not be the utd boss for quite some time but would give him a better grounding for when he would come (assuming all went well that is)
i would imagine that he will be linked with many positions from now on, but hopefully that is only because even dip s**t journo's can see he has an excellent future ahead of him

Ed's, Syd! etc apparently we tried for Mehdi Benatia this window? Have you heard similar? Quality player.

He was being scouted, didn't know we had tried to sign him though.

Modric is being tipped in the press as the player than United want, its between him and Ozil for me. Modric has been tipped as being so perfect for United that i think it will eventually happen...! I don't see him at Chelsea and he'd be wasted at City so lets spend on one player who wull make our club the best officially again.

A midfield of:

Nani ------------ Modric --------Cleverly------Young

Looks good.

RedDevil19

Believable21 Unbelievable17

I'd try for both of them.

Agree14 Disagree1

This looks more good

Valencia Cleverley Modric Nani

Agree17 Disagree9

If we went for Ozil it would be more like:

Valencia ---- Cleverly -----Carrick ---Nani

-----------------Ozil----------------------

----------------------Rooney------------

To keep the current shape of the team and play with two strikers which i think is better i'd prefer Modric.

RedDevil19

Agree11 Disagree1

I'll go for Ozil but wont mind both.

Agree6 Disagree1

Listen guys valencia is by far our best player in the midfield so how can the red devil not include him... i would leave out nani at the mo he cant even pass the ball in a straight line at the mo

Agree6 Disagree13

True! But he is still better than Young. Who has been MIA for awhile(even before his injury that is). Also with a player like Nani, you have to patient because he can do something special. He had a pretty decent game against city last night as well.

2Taze

Agree6 Disagree2

Or maybe you can just take scholes back very embarrassing where's the money going

Agree4 Disagree5

I just cant see spurs selling him, they are in a great position in the league with a young team with good passers in the middle and pacey wingers on the flanks..... sound vaguely familiar, i wonder where harry got his inspiration lol
Perhaps when Redknapp is made Engerlunds boss they will fall apart and we could snap him up a bit cheaper (hopefully with bale) but until then they are going to be tough opposition

Nasri and Varane were earmarked for the summer, what a difference them pair could have made to our season? Nasri & Cleverley in the middle and Varane, Ferdinand & Smalling for right sided CB, Vidic, Jones & Evans for the left side.

Sydney!

Believable8 Unbelievable14

Dont think we wud of got jones if we got varane?

Agree17 Disagree1

Syd,

What you make of the Fiorentina CM beggining with 'M' (Not even attempting to spell his name!) Monty to shorten it! We have been linked to him I have read on some websites? Any good do you know? I know Italian football is like watching Liverpool play nowadays, Borefest!

Ports {Ed007's Note - WHOAH!!! Let's not run down Italian football THAT much!}

Agree8 Disagree2

Jones was always going to be a United player. He is Vidic's long-term replacement. Varane is like Ferdinand, he is a ball player.

Sydney!

Agree7 Disagree8

Dont think Jones is seen as Vidic's long term replacemsnt Syd as SAF has said a couple of time when asked that over the next 12mths he expects to move him more into a CM role.

Agree11 Disagree0

Sorry Ed007, must be the emotion of today!

Ports

Agree1 Disagree2

I must agree, Nasri and Varane would of completed the squad...but doesn't it tell you what we are actually looking for? 1 CB and an attacking midfielder. SAF clearly feels that that would complete the squad. So with that in mind the player that SAF can't get yet is Ozil i think. He will probably be available in summer as i think Mourinho will do some work on the Madrid midfield.

And for center back it could realistically be anyone. But i think Smalling is Ferdinand's long term replacement with Jones being Vidic'. But competition will be added - maybe Inigo Martinez as we heard a week or two ago. Subotic perhaps? Ideally Hummels but i dont think it will be. Its a hard one to call, someone will be pulled out of the hat.

So just to recap Ozil + CB in the summer will be the business that we do. Plus someone like Erick Torres maybe.

RedDevil19

Agree7 Disagree4

'no name'

Hence the reason I said long-term. Vidic has a couple of years left and when he leaves Jones will replace him. In the meantime he will remain back-up to Vidic and he will play CM and RB.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree5

'19'

We will def replace Evra in the summer, he is a massive liability. I think a CM'r and a striker will be bought between now and September. Perhaps a young CB like Inigo will be looked at?

Sydney!

Agree4 Disagree5

I don't think Evra will be replaced, why is he captain over Ferdinand Syd? For me the more i think about it the more Ozil will be the player we bring in. Maybe play him behind the forward. As for a striker Syd, it will be someone young like Erick Torres. If we play one up top then a need for a new big name striker is not at all needed.

If a LB does come in then for me it has to either Alba or Schmelzer. I expect to see this team:

De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Schmelzer, Nani, Cleverly, Anderson, Young, Ozil, Rooney.

RedDevil19

Agree2 Disagree3

'19'

Rio is not captain because he cannot play in every game due to his age and he has injury problems, SAF made that clear when he give the captaincy to Vidic, so naturally it falls to Evra, plays every game and is rarely injured. A LB will certainly be brought in by the summer.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree2

You do have a point there, i think an understoody is more likely to be brought in than Evra being sold. He still has a role to play.

RedDevil19 {Ed007's Note - Utd are watching Izaguirre and will for the rest of the season with a view to a move in the summer.}

Agree3 Disagree1

Izzaguire, I hope - assuming his injury is sorted. Evra is a liability defensively. I can't understand why he is captain. We need someone wearing the armband who can be a leader on the field and can influence the way we are playing (like Robbo and Keano used to do). The only player we have with that determination is Rooney, with Jones being his successor.

RLF {Ed007's Note - Izaguirre is back playing and the injury doesn't seem to have affected him, so far anyway.}

Agree3 Disagree1

Evra has lost the plot he is a liability constantly being caught out of position
johndenton

Agree3 Disagree5

Scholes back means not trusting Pogba, iT seems he is in his way out in the summer ..what do you think ED? {Ed007's Note - I was talking to one of the other Eds about that today. If he wasn't he might be now.}

Agree5 Disagree1

Sorry Syd - but from what little I have seen of Nasri since he joined City - he has not impressed.
Mike

Agree6 Disagree0

Thought Nasri was awful today.

Doubt Ravel is going anywhere not based on his tweets during the match.

Pogba, well i hope he signs, but if he's chasing £££ at the age 18 with the amount of senior football he has then good riddance.

Lampard i really can't see moving, he'd want a massive amount and i can't stand him anyway.

With Macheda and Diouf out what about Will Keane getting bench time?

Agree1 Disagree0

'Mike'

Nasri wanted the United move, but was talked out of it by his reps, all three of his reps received £2m each in that deal. What chance do we have when City are using these sort of tricks. I think Nasri has a few regrets and when you are not completely happy you will show that in your performances on the pitch. A good friend of his in France did say that he wanted the United move and not the City move, other reports suggested that when his reps tried to contact United he was told to do one. Nasri had agreed in principal to join United during unofficial talks, but once his reps contacted City, United pulled the plug. They are the rumours, they are not concrete, but that is what is thought to have happened. His reps ruined his move to United.

Sydney!

Agree9 Disagree3

Sorry mate your off target there, Arses wouldn't deal with us period.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nasri for me, wouldnt have been the best player he doesnt do enough defensively. Gotta sell Carrick he's been good to united but we need to clear out, average players with class players. Sell Carrick, buy a class playmaker, fletcher at full fitness will be chasing down opposition midfielders for joke. And den that leaves cleverley, anderson with the youngsters pogba and morrison to play more next season. Still think we need a left back because evra this season defensively has been a shambles at times, and he needs someone to push him for the place. Fabio is still learning, so need a left back. Lastly, maybe a left footed winger because if Giggsy does decide to call it quits, we need someone hu is left footed to replace him. so Sell Carrick, Buy one quality playmaker and maybe another good midfielder, and a left back and business would be done in the summer. But that's all up to fergie. Fergie rebuilt the squad in the summer, when van der sar left he got two young keepers, and brought in young as giggsy replacement on the left and cleverley to do the scholes job. So now we need strengthen our squad.

A Player who may be worth looking at is Inigo Martinez from Real Sociedad. He is a 20 year old CB. I have never heard of him but signed him on Championship Manager this year because David De Gea was happy that he'd been named the Spanish U 21 captain. Anyway, his stats looked goo and then month or 2 ago he's on Soccer AM scoring from the half way line, in off the cross bar! He is currently on Sky Sports web page under the scout section in the Transfer pages.
Anyway, looks a talent. Just thought i'd introduce the lad to you all.

January could see possible signing(s)
If this is true the glazers would give fergie an budget of no more than 50/60 mill.
There could be a potential 10 mill. high jack for Bolton Gary Cahil.
It has been rumored that rooney wants world class signings or he will leave, but after today's 3-2 win over rivals city, rooney has declared rumors to be rubish and quoted 'i will be at this club for a long time'
What are your thoughts ed?

The Red Devil {Ed007's Note - I never thought he was leaving. It was people adding 2+2 and getting 139. I'm not 100% convinced with Cahill, isn't he looking for over £100k a week as well?}

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Too many people on this site are naive and think because the papers are printing it then there is no smoke without fire. The smoke was the fact that Rooney was fined and he was taken off in the Newcastle game, because of that the media assumed he was up for sale. Pathetic.

Sydney!

Does anyone honestly think Fergi will sign Tiote? He will cost 25 mil if not more, and then Man C will bid. Cabaye, first season in the prem, he will cost 20 mil. No way will fergi pay that and Newcastle will not sell for less

Believable9 Unbelievable10

Tiote's passing is awful and lets him down a lot. He is not worth anywhere near £25m. Cabaye isn't worth anywhere near £20m either.

Sydney!

Agree25 Disagree2

He is very good at braking up the play but like syd said his passing is awful but could we get him to improve his passing? with scholes as our coach id like to think so.

JK

Agree6 Disagree1

'JK'

I agree he could work on his passing, but when you are paying £25m for a player, he needs to be able to pass. The reason Cahill isn't a United player right now is because of his poor passing ability. SAF likes decent passers. I think £15m for Tiote is about right.

Sydney!

Agree5 Disagree4

Yeah, 25m for tiote is just ridiculous, 15m is probably right.

JK

Agree7 Disagree1

Maby 25m for both tiote and cabaye, but cant see it happening though.

Agree1 Disagree0

Lol ... we payed 8mil for hernandez and about the same for vidic & evra

Tiote is probably worth about the same and it doesn't matter cause he's not united quality

I have mixed feelings on this, I am delighted as the Man is the best CM player this country has produced but I am afraid i reeks of desperation a little?!

Andy B

Agree10 Disagree0

Id say we can now safely assume that SAF will not be bringing anyone in during the January window.

TK-Red

Think that's an admission by SAF that we do need a midfielder, but probably means we won't be buying one this january

Winston

Agree17 Disagree0

Beckhams at the stadium as well! Could it be? Haha

Ports

Agree10 Disagree3

I think this means we have an injury crisis and need cover but the player Sir Alex wants long term isn't available yet so this is the best short term solution to the problem.

Shappy

Agree7 Disagree0

The manager is so so intelligent.
United needed a boost that's it.

Scholes is a good addition to the squad but I feel he's there more as a senior player.

That boost is all what we needed to bring City down.
When we can beat Fulham 5-0 at the ground where City drew 2-2 with them, it is not surprising we can't beat them today.

Its just lack of confidence, and coming of Scholesy could bring that back.

Agree9 Disagree2

I think there is someone lined up for the summer too. Question is who?

Sydney!

Agree8 Disagree2

Scholes in

But wasn't Evans out for a week ?
He's in now.

I wish Jones plays RB not CB.

Gibson is not in the squad (thank god ! )

Berbatov dropped (Not surprising as he is awful against the big teams)

No Pogba or Morrison again (the only sad thing)

Agree12 Disagree1

What a sad day for our great club that weve had to bring scholes back and hes straight on the bench doesnt say a lot for our depth of squad does it,smacks of desperation for a situation brought on us by either not spending or nothing to spend.im not having a pop at scholesy absolute credit to the game just hope hes thought about this and doesnt end up regretting it.
johndenton

Agree7 Disagree8

Morrison is injured and Pogba is lower in the pecking order than Anderson. Hardly surprising giving his young age and lack of experience. Next season we will see a lot more of Pogba. Gibson and Berbatov not playing could mean they are off this month? Kiko & Diouf on loans, could we see a striker come in this month?

Sydney!

Agree7 Disagree2

Carrick yet again playing, what a waste, give me strength

Agree4 Disagree16

Sydney,

Who would/could you like/see coming in? Fergie likes his 4 strikers and Welbeck starting is a big statement regarding him so we have Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez. Maybe someone like Erik Torres? Heard good things on him and you tubed him, looks decent but feel can't base judgement on that! Not sure who else is out there we could realistically get that would improve us? I'd love Higuain but realistically?

Ports

Agree3 Disagree0

If Scholes does end up playing this season, what number will he end up wearing?

Agree1 Disagree0

'Ports'

Not sure Torres is ready, would like to see another striker especially if the Berb is sold. I think what happens with Berba this month will depend on what happens in the striking department, we are shipping out Kiko & Diouf so there is room for a youngster.

Sydney!

Agree3 Disagree0

Scholes no.22, absolutely fantastic. It was like he never retired. So aware of what's around him and his touch, weight and choice of passing is just second to none.. Over the moon to have him for the remainder of this season at least!

Ozwald

Agree5 Disagree2

'Ozwald'

I thought the last 5 minutes summed Scholesy up, just kept the ball moving and United didn't waste any shots or any opportunities to attack etc just kept possession and I think this was down to 'Sat Nav'. I did think he was a bit sloppy at times with a few short passes and maybe the second goal could of been avoided but that has to be expected after not playing for 6-7 months.
My only surprise was he put Scholes on ahead of Anderson?

Ports

Agree4 Disagree0

'Ports'

That would most likely be because Scholes is fit, while Anderson is still recovering from his injury. He's building up the game time slowly to avoid further injury. But yes i agree, Paul did have a few 'daft' moments but it has been a while since playing in an actual competitive match. His overall performance was great though, fantastic at controlling the game which is also why SAF wanted him on the pitch sooner rather than later after sh!tty stepped it up a notch.

Pogba is STARTING today and Jones is playing alongside him in the centre with Rio and Carrick centre of defence.

I reckon Fergie is building in Pogba as his alibi in case of a defeat today - "we give youth a chance, good experience for the boy etc etc...."

If so, Carrick is going to have to really play a blinder just behind them.

Believable2 Unbelievable23

If this is true, finally we see a youth player start rather than a useless Gibson play again.

And Carrick looked more convincing in the CB than Jones did.
Jones was great at CM with his marauding runs.

Though I still feel Anderson maybe opted in place of Pogba unless we are playing a 3-man midfield.

anyone think we should make a bid for ba? quick, strong good header, good shot, scores against the top teams and consistent, he would give us something different upfront, also something for the wingers to aim for.

he has the best goal-time ratio in the prem for anyone who has scored more than 20 goals.

think a 15-20m could persuade newcastle to sell?

peoples thoughts?

Believable11 Unbelievable5

He's better equipped than Hernandez and Welbeck are.

He can also lead the line when needed, and I feel Newcastle could be tempted if we include Berbatov or Gibson or loan a Pogba/Morrison to them..

Agree4 Disagree6

With the kind of luck we are having at the moment I can guarantee you that if we sign him all his previous injuries will come back to haunt us and he'll be out for a long time. Might even end up like Hargreaves ( I was the happiest person on the face of this planet when we signed Hargo and every season I thought maybe this year but was disappointed every time)

Agree5 Disagree0

Ba has a release clause of 10m and Newcastle would have to sell at that price,is 10m worth the risk for his dodgy knee?,I would say yes as he has 15 goals already this season.

Agree4 Disagree2

Well if it is 10m then we should sign him, his wages wouldn't be huge either and if he did get injured it wouldn't affect the books too much.

surely it would be better to spend that on ozil 25-30m and/ martinez 25m.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

It wont happen but if it does then Modric wont be able to justify the price tag even if he plays for us for the next 20 years without missing a single match.
