Obviously the Coentrao rumours are still knocking round, but it seems that there are three centre back targets: Mangala, Garay and Dede. Mangala has to be the first choice but reports are saying that we want to wait till summer till we get him - if that's the case then we need our heads looking at.

Believable23 Unbelievable9

Nothing surprises me about the current management team.We already know that they will make poor decisions given half a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps this is because teams don't want to sell their top players mid-season? What did you expect when a new management team took over? Transition after a 27 year regime will take longer than just 5/6 months! If you're a true fan you'll back Moyes no matter what and trust in United's decisions - Right now we can either water our crops over time to create a vast sustainable empire or we can dump nuclear waste on our land and grow tomacco.

Agree3 Disagree2

"If your a true fan you'll back Moyes". Do you realise how stupid that is, what your only a real true fan if you support a man who has luckily got one of the biggest jobs in the world and is now destroying the clubs reputation? Get a grip mate!

Agree4 Disagree2

My point is that by backing Moyes, you're trusting your faith in the club. He was hand picked by Fergie himself and do you not remember what Fergie said at his last appearance at Old Trafford? 'Its now your job to stand by your new manager'. Moyes is not trying to destroy the team, he's trying to rebuild it properly with a group of players that will have longevity. Would you rather us get rid of him now and start the spiral of a different manager every six months? United ethos is to rebuild and that's what we're doing now. The club needs support not criticism!

Agree3 Disagree1

Well said unitedlover.
It is going to take time. We need to accept this year for what it is (a feet finding, regeneration year) and support the manager.

Agree1 Disagree0

Mangala is also wanted by City and I'm not sure whether we should try and compete with them financially for a player only tried and tested in Portugal.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Unitedlover - what absolute rubbish. Why should we stand beside him "no matter what"? Just bcause Fergie said so?Fergie made plenty of bad decisions over the years in some of the players he brought in - why can't he get it wrong with the new manager? Why should he and not the board have hand picked the new manager? Do you even realise how close this club is frm going into very serious decline?

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't think there is any chance of us going into serious decline. However I do not accept that there should be blind allegiance to any individual at the club, manager, player or director. They all need to be judged on whether they are performing well or not. Moyes deserves at least two years, how long have we given Anderson, Nani, Young etc!

Agree0 Disagree0

Serious decline? Please tell you’re not actually thinking that? That's very dramatic! Do you really think that Fergie alone appointed Moyes, without having the boards backing? Listen, I’m not saying Moyes has been perfect. He’s made some daft decisions and as he perhaps could have done himself a favour and kept the back-room staff to ease the transition, but he probably wanted to get his feet under the table as quick as possible and make United his own team. Yes Fergie casts a big shadow, as he had a regime for 27 years, whereby the players, staff and especially us fans followed and accepted that – Now he’s left that regime has been broken and in the modern game rebuilding something that solid takes time, but when it is rebuilt, the foundations will be even stronger! You actually think we’re close to serious decline, because we’re having a bad run of form and results… Come on mate, give Moyes time and support. Did you leave the Nou Camp after 90 minutes during the 1999 Champions League Final? Did you leave White Hart Lane at half-time when Spurs were 3-0 up back in 2001? Did you sell your season ticket when City beat us 6-1, because you thought we were finished? We’re United and we bounce back and always come back stronger! So get behind your manager because he won’t be going anywhere for a while.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said united lover. And can people please keep in mind when there having a go at moyes for everything that he is not the only one filling in some big shoes at the club. Ed woodward has the difficult task of stepping into david gills shoes aswell. And anybody who knows anything about football off the field knows what a superb job he did for utd and made fergies job that much easier. And take a look at the squad. it needs a lot of rebuilding. But then again i'm sure all these people slaging off moyes could a much better job regardless. I think not!

Hi ed. Besides looking for a mid. Do you think it is possible we might go for a CB in jan? Rio seems done for a few months and Vidic injury prone and leaving end of season.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - If the right player is avalable at the right price, yes.}

Edd do you wreckin garay could be a realistic signing in jan?
noa

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - All I can say there is interest. Anything else would be speculation.}

Was wondering if any of the eds are around, if you could shed some light on this nemanja vidic story that he's leaving in the summer has any truth to it?

Cheers in advance!

Believable29 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - He has made it clear he will not sign a new contract - so he will have one last hooray elsewhere with a big signing on fee.}

Jones and perhaps Garay to replace Vidic and Ferdinand? If that's the case we will need to promote Keane and we will need possibly two new central midfielders in the summer. Over the next four windows I think we will be spending a few bob. I can see a good £150m-£200m being spent in the next two years.

Agree2 Disagree2

Well I wish him all the best and thank him for his fantastic service to the club.

He clearly isn't the same player now and with Rio and Vidic in the team we sit too deep.

In my opinion Rio could stop, but as back up, he isn't going to be capable of playing a lot of games for anyone.

Long term we need a partner for Evans who isn't going to be injured all the time like Jones. I love the guy but he is very injury prone. Garay would seem seem like a ready made UTD player and like Sydney stated Keane will soon be ready to come into the squad too.

Agree1 Disagree2

As we are in a nothing season should we then look to promote Keane earlier than expected to give him experience? Real shame as Vidic has shown what a difference he has made since his return to the team - surely they shouldn't have let his contract run down?

Agree1 Disagree1

Sydney, I agree. Jones and Garay to replace Ferdinand and Vidic would be ideal. I think Keane needs promoting and I think Varela may need promoting if he sorts his head out or whatever it is that took him home. We need to be looking in the world class bracket, Garay, Coentrao, Vidal, Koke and Reus are all very good players with some being world class. They are the 5 that I would go for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fresh, Varela's parents were involved in a car crash. That's why he was granted leave mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm going to give my 5 pence worth, although I would be happy with Garay I also feel Mangala would be a good acquisition, he may be rather pricey though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good luck to Nemenja. He's been a great player for us since him and Patrice Evra arrived in Jan 2006.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks edd02. Asides from garay who we've been linked to for a while is there anybodg else in the cb position moyes has his eye on?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new.}

Ed, are we interested in Kurt Zouma? Which clubs are interested? Where is he most likely to end up?

Thanks for your time, ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Inter, Napoli, Manchester City and Chelsea remain interested in Zouma. Arsenal and Manchester United looked at Zouma previously and may show further interest. His price makes him an attractive proposition and talks have been progressing with Chelsea.}

Ive heard about zouma a fair few times but never seen the kid play. How good is he now and how good do we think je could be? Would love some feed back from anybody that's in the kno.
Cheers!

Agree0 Disagree0

All this talk of fancy expensive players. you know we'll end up with Jagielka!
