Did we sign that Perreira lad from PSV does anybody know?

Percy

Believable7 Unbelievable4

According to his Twitter page he is a United player, not yet confirmed by the club, but then again Daehli & Januzaj were never confirmed either. Januzaj is a massive talent with huge potential.

I don't follow the academy very closely, so thanks, hope they all do well.

Yeah if we can bulk Adnan up, he will be insane in the prem. Technically i've not see a young player like him in England. he's sort of the converse of Van Velzen, it will be good to see how both of them come on. They are definately future stars if they carry on improving.

Sanshine

Agree1 Disagree0

If i can just ask (being a bit thick) but what does the converse of van velzen mean??

Eds/Syds, have you heard of this guy Mateo Kovacic? His agent clearly stated he wants to play for Manchester Utd & apparently City are trying to steal him from us..! Yet again the question is, are we after him?
He is 17 & plays as an attacking midfield. Sounds GooooD!

Mohit {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid. 17 year old - not for sale by Dinamo Zagreb yet. One for the future. Barcelona have offered up payment for Mateo Kovacic on what I understand to be an 8 year contract with two years back on loan in Zagreb.}

Believable10 Unbelievable1

He is a good player and could be great, I am sure United are interested in him and Bayern Munich are too. His agent says he wants the United move, but you never know if it is just a tactic to drive up his price?

Ed002, can I ask what is the difference between interest and confirmed interest? Who or what confirms it exactly?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Interest would simply be a player being watched (and there are hundreds of these every season). Confirmed interest will generally be an enquiry by the club of the players agent or players club being confirmed by an agent, a member of staff of the either club, perhaps a player etc.. Such confirmation is noted.}

Thanks Ed.

Can't see why you's all believe this Sydney fella not one thing can I remember being true and I follow this site the last two years or so clearly remember him feeding us a story about a player from the Spanish league and a player from the Italian league coming granted de gea came but we all knew that any other knowledge he gives can be found anywhere all these school kids with there silly questions for sydney please stop he just gets a big head and feels he is that much in the know he can pick on other people that post he is no more in the know than any one else that has access to the Internet Sydney I think you need to get a girlfriend your on this far too much

Agree21 Disagree8

Kovacic is interesting MUFC as far as I've been told. Apparently D. Zagreb are a tough club to deal with though. (they are like Italian clubs with owners who have invested interest in alot of their own players). As of around September someone who has link's to this player told me that he thought his most likely destination would be Tottenham, but that may of changed since then.

I have never said we would sign someone from the Spanish or Italian leagues, I wouldn't know as I have no United sources, I have never pretended to have either. You are of course talking sh1t. As for having a girlfriend, I actually have a missus, I also have a bit on the side. How is your mum?

It is hilarious how quickly everyone jumped to sydney!'s defence, when ,apart from the cheap dig at his personal life, all the anon said was essentially true of everyone on this site, Syd included

Jack Rodwell will definately not be leaving this transfer window. Just got told by someone influential this morning. So we can pretty much rule him out coming us for a midfield slot.
For what it's worth up until today Jelavic was on his way to QPR, now almost definately going to Everton who are seriously interested after missing out on Ba in the summer when they had plenty of opportunity to take him.

I have been thinking long and hard about MUFCs rumoured midfield transfer targets (De Rossi, Modric, Sneidjer, Rodwell) and those players who many people believe we have missed out on (Parker, Cabaye, Ozil etc). To be consider a truely great side (like the current Barca) you need to be winning the Champions League. There is no doubt we could buy players to the standard of Parker, Cabaye, even Modric (unproven in Europe IMO) and De Rossi etc and still win the Premier League year after year. However, I am not convinced these players would win us the Champions League atm. What is the point of winning the English Premiership every year (apart from financial gain) if you fall short in the Champions League year after year as we have since 2008. Champions League is the bench mark of a great side IMO. Unfortunately I do not think there is a quick fix. I believe we need to develop our young players (Pogba, Cleverly and Morrision) and only buy players who are actually world class and want to play for us. Unfortunately this may mean sacrificing the league for a couple of years. If you look at the stats, Barca won the CL in 91/93 and not again until 05/06. Between this time I believe they regrouped and thought hard about youth development hence why we now have the likes of Iniesta, Xavi and Messi. And when they buy they buy truely world class players like Villa, Sanchez etc.

Agree10 Disagree2

To the above poster, 3 finals out of 4 isn't bad and can hardly be classed as failing in Europe since 2008! Unfortunately we are in a period of a team that is being mentioned as the greatest team ever in Barcelona! I definately agree we need to develop youth but we have had that in place since SAF arrived so we are not doing anything radically wrong, but unfortunately we have also had to compete with Chelsea and City in last 5/6 years who want instant success and buy it but we are still competing year after year, we just have to accept whoever we play, it's their biggest game and will work that little harder to prove a point! That's what happens when your at the top!

Agree5 Disagree3

The League is the bread and butter and Europe is the cherry on the top. Many of us remember the wilderness years and the taunts of 20, 21, 22, 23 all the way to 26 years by the Kop as they racked up title after title. Ask any scouser if they would swap Istanbul for a league title and i think if they are honest 95% of them would say yes.

Are you seriously suggesting sacrificing the league to chase youth development to win a champions league even though we are nowhere near Barca and it would take a good 5 years or so?

There's a reason Barca didn't win the league for the period you said, and it was nothing to do with sacrificing the league to develop youth. It was a sucession of bad managers making too many bad buys, van Gaal especially, which left them behind Madrid. And its not like they were challenged for 2nd place now is it.

You are correct that there was a conscious decison to focus on youth development though going back to Cruyff, hardly a surprise coming from an ex Ajax player. But they didn't sacrifice the league to do it. They did try to win the league they just wasn't as good as Madrid in the same period. Yes the youth has certainly propelled them to glory and was worth waiting for but they have still spent a huge amount over the last decade certainly more than us.

Agree3 Disagree2

Ok so im a scouser and no id keep our 5 european cups against your 3 with your 19 titles against our 18!

I think a better question is would you swap that 1 league title for 2 european cups?

Are you guys looking forward to the cup tie? bet your bums are twitching!

@kop_bailey

Agree6 Disagree9

The standered of teams were easier in the 70's and 80's!

Agree2 Disagree2

Liverpool will go far more than 26 years without winning the title, with Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham, Arsenal and United to deal with they have no chance in the near future, nearly 80m spent on Caroll, Downing, Henderson , they should have got all three for no more than 30m it's going to be while yet scousers

eds do you think scholes is more of a temp replacement for fletcher..considering he is out for the season...and united would still try and sign a mf player this window?

Rudi {Ed002's Note - Scholes will be there to add to the squad. If the right player is available at the right price there is every chance of a bid.}

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Scholes i there as an option and nothing more, never mind us lacking quality in that position, we lack players in that position.

saf is trying to get through the season with the current midfield because he wants to bring pogba and morrison in next season and also de rossi might be signing for united for free in the summer as he is stalling over a new contract at roma

Believable4 Unbelievable16

Trust me when I say this, If De Rossi doesn't stay at Roma he will be a Manchester City player this summer. They have offered him ridiculous money and he will take it. Sad but true.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree5 Disagree1

They are welcome to him, he was nothing special when we played them in the champions league and i don't think he'd cope in prem week in week out when he couldn't hack a couple of games against us. The likes of Spurs wont be scared of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

De rossi will be made the next roma captain and is still in talks about a new contract so i think he will stay, just because city can offer more doesn't mean he's going to move, by that logic every player city are interested in would move and lets face it with the quality city have in midfield do they really need (or have room for) him
i had heard city want hummels and hazzard unfortunately two players i believe utd have looked at.
