Has everybody heard about the campain to get Simon Hardcastles song 19 to number one this Sunday apparently it would only take 30,000 downloads it's £0.79 on iTunes. Would be pretty funny.

Good idea lol, but I think you mean Paul Hardcastle? Awful song itself however. .

Just a thought - if THEY were by some miracle to win the FA cup on our Historic day, then the Charity Shield looks a bit tasty doesn't it?

Nico. - I will have some of that what a way to start next season.

I think somebody should take one for the team and just wreck Messi in the Final.

Would be a good way to stop the lad ;).

I have to say, I think Pep would be a great manager for us in the future, but Carlo Ancelotti seems a decent manager, maybe with some more freedom as manager he could be a very good manager. He is a nice fella, but is that the problem? Do we want someone the rival fans will hate?

Neuer to Bayern deal close to failing

Bayern Munich have turned their attention to Mainz goalkeeper Heinz Muller after admitting they are unlikely to reach an agreement with Schalke to sign Manuel Neuer.

The Bavarians have made their first offer for the Germany number one, but it is believed to be little over half of Schalke's asking price, making Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge sceptical about a deal being reached.
"I don't really think we are going to find a quick agreement, " he told the Bild newspaper.
"And I am also not convinced that Bayern and Schalke will find a price which suits them both, but we will have to wait and see - the transfer window is still open for four more months."
Muller has therefore emerged as a new candidate to be understudy to Hans-Jorg Butt, who recently extended his contract by a year.
Bayern's director of sport Christian Nerlinger has already made initial contact with the player's agent and further talks could take place if the Neuer deal turns into a stalemate.
"We will definitely be signing a new goalkeeper, " revealed Rummenigge.
However, Muller may be just as difficult to get.
"We certainly don't have any intention of selling him, " said Mainz general manager Christian Heidel.

Man Utd WILL NOT sign Kaka, end of!

Sneijder deal appears to be gathering a bit more pace according to my source. The Glazer's are said to be very happy with the money generated by the club's success this season, and as a result could be very willing to part with a bit more cash than previously discussed with Gill. However, we all know what SAF is like when it come to transfer dealings, if he doesn't agree with the price, and after lengthy haggling still can't agree on a fee, then he won't be held to randsom, subsequently bringing the deal to a close where he'll move to plan B, which I'm led to believe could be either Luka Modric or Javier Pastore.

Balague's reported that United, Liverpool and City are all following Juan Mata.

And Valencia would sell for the right price.

I can't see this one happening, myself. Not sure how a player like Mata would fit into the team if, as a few of you have said, Sneijder joins.

Sahin has just signed for Real Madrid, six year contract. I have also heard that Gundogun has just signed for Dortmund too.

Sahin has been loaned to Real Madrid in the meantime, but I would imagine he cannot play though?

Can he play Ed?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - loaned? I can't find anything on that at all. As far as I can find out there is no way they can loan him, he would be ineligible to play for them as the window is shut. They can not register him in their squad at all. Maybe they just want to get him over training with his new team mates? Or playing for Castilla?}

@That is what I am thinking Ed, I think he has just joined up with the Real squad and will train and get to know his new teammates. Just goes to show that you can sign someone whenever you want and have them joining your club, they just cannot play.

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - Syd, I am afraid that statement is simply not true. Everything can be completed subject to the transfer of the reqgistration of the player. For an additional consideration - the player can be made available for press conferences and agreement reached for the player not to play for the selling club to avoid potential injury. This is not an unusual way for many of the Spanish and Italian clubs to do business. The French are trying to avoid the opening of the French transfer window being delayed opening until the interenational transfer window opens so as they can do some shopping before the big boys come calling.}

{Ed002's Note - I don't expect Goetze to move. And transfers do not normally happen perhaps as simply as you think.}

@Perhaps not Ed, but every player has their price, if we are happy to spend £90m on a 27 year old, surely we are willing to spend a third of that on an 18 year old? This time last season Dortmund valued him at £8m, six months ago it was £12m and then £15m and now they are saying he is not for sale.

Surely £20m would be more than enough to get them pondering? He has made it clear he would love to move to Manchester United, Real Madrid or Barcelona. I am not saying it would be easy to get him, but it would be possible as everyone has their price.

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - So if Manchester City came in for Hernandez, Manchester United would say "sure, we'll send him over". Some clubs don't want to sell players, but feel free to assume that Manchester United can bully people in to selling.}

Ed002, can you confirm if United are interested in Sneijder? If what the papers are saying is remotely true or not.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - There is an interest in Sneijder.}

@Who is ready to gazump us Ed? Who else want him?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure anyone but Manchester City could afford the deal being suggested, but they are not interested. Roma declared an interest but baulked at the price.}

@So are you saying United are potentially the only team interested in him? Would that mean the price would be closer to £25m than £35m?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - No Sydney!, other clubs have been interested and baulked at the price. Why would Inter reduce the price they want? If only Manchester City was interested in buying Vidic would Manchester United reduce the price by a third. Why didn't Manchester United know £30k off the price for Ronaldo?}

@I see what you mean Ed, but 99% of selling clubs end up accepting less than they wanted, that's common place in all haggling isn't it? Do you have any idea about what the price is? Some papers are saying 30m euros, some are saying £40m. Which is it? £26m or £40m?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - I would guess they will be looking for upwards of 40M euro. I also suspect that there will be drawn out discussions over wages/ packages.}

@Then I would tell them to forget it £35m+ for a 27 year old. Then add monstrous wages on top of that. I would rather pay £20m for an 18 year old Goetze who's wages would be no more than 40k a week. I always said Sneijder at around £25m would be a good deal, but not at £35m-£40m. Including wages, he would cost us close to £90m over five years, and we won't recoup a penny of that back. Goetze over five years would cost us £25m-£30m over five years and he will only be 23 when his contract is up. This was my problem with going for Sneijder.

Ed, you said Barcelona are interested in Goetze, but if we were to offer £20m for him, which is £5m more than Dortmund value him at, surely that would put us in a good position? Do you think Goetze is a far more sensible option Ed?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - I don't expect Goetze to move. And transfers do not normally happen perhaps as simply as you think.}

Like other regulars on this site, I too have read on numerous sites that United are very close to signing Sneijder but its pending the Glazer's approval(cash)
The problem is that the price varies from 25-40M Pounds depending on the site
