I've been sitting at work today pondering something. Now I know this will reopen a can of worms but hey ho. Lol.

Since the transfer window slammed shut we've had Nani get a new contract and we've heard that Carrick Vidic and Januzaj will or are having new contracts sorted out. Nothing has been mentioned about Evras contract which runs out next summer but then that's not big news considering most of us wanted him replaced two years ago.

But the one player who hasn't been spoken of extending his contract is Wayne Rooney.

Now if he did ask for a transfer in the summer then it will more than likely be the work of his agent. Probably to get him a new contract, let's be honest he has history for doing things in that manner.

Rooney will only have a year left on his contract come the summer, and if we arrive at that point without giving him an extension then all the power will again be in his corner. So I can't see the club allowing that to happen.

Now i'll be the first to admit that his form this season has been close to his best, and he has made me eat my words on that matter.

But he has gone out of his way to avoid answering the question of whether he is happy at the club.

And the club have only stated that he has a contract with the club, but have stopped short of saying whether they intend to extend that contract.

So with all these contracts being sorted now for our players, I think between now and the summer will be a telling time in Wayne Rooneys future at the club. As if we get to next July without him signing a new contract then I don't think what his form is like will matter, quite simply the club will have to either pay him more than he's currently on or sell him. If that's the case then i'd advise against anyone getting Waynes name on the back of your new shirt.

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that the club need to discuss such matters, as Ronney's contract" in the public domain. At some point they will sit down with him and his advisor and will put what the club see to be a good offer on the table. And that does not mean more money necessarily. The serious interest this summer was from Chelsea - I am not expecting them to return with a new offer. PSG are going to be making a change and could be interested, but I don't see him moving there. If he were to move to mainland Europe, I would say Monaco would be the most viable destination. I'll throw something out there - a new deal, him staying for three years at Old Trafford then a move to the United States and three years in the MLS. Then again Spurs need a new striker.}

Asked about the speculation over his future at United
"I have been used to it for years, ’ said Rooney,

‘I don’t really take much notice of it. I don’t care what anyone says. What people who don’t know me say is not important to me. Sometimes it is difficult because I have a family as well but mainly I just get on with it and try to let my football do the talking"

Brilliant we could part exchange him for Gareth Bale.

Or perhaps a move back to Everton Ed?
