If Klopp is available(MAKE HIM AN OFFER HE CAN'T REFUSE) and give him 6 years, even more! Someone with experience to bring the stability and amazing football style with Youth development.
Things are pointing at Van Gaal. I think 3 years(extension depending on performance) contract would be enough seeing that he is already 62 and he will bring that stability and lay the foundation. Obvious plus point is his total football style and his experience. Good mentor for Giggs and Scholes. He is a slow starter and he will impose his footballing style.
He said he normally keeps an assistant from previous management which is good and I think it should be Giggsy and Scholesy. Any Big Club will try anything to retain their legends specially likes of Scholes and Giggs.

As far I am concern, having Giggs and Scholes as assistant is as important as having a new manager.

Another thing that annoys me is people saying we should sign atleast 4 or 5 players. I for one only want 3 signing of 2 Solid CM and LB.

Manchester United first team would be without a single youth product from our academy. That would be really annoying. We need at the least Evans and Januzaj in our first team. Ideally 3 players in our first team should be from our youth product. Our core problem has been our CM since Keane and Scholes have left. A strong CM partnership creates and overall better team. Look at Arsenal, they downfall was because of their weakened CMs. Look at Liverpool, that annoying Gerrard has been their strength in attack and defence. Yaya and Fernandinho is stability and strength of City.
My ideal CM partnership would be Vidal and Fabregas, or Carvallo and Kroos.

Only thing is world cup finishes on 13th and our first pre season game is on 23rd. So does Van Gaal have enough time to get the transfers in more importantly off load the dead woods.

Red Samurai

1.) If we only get 3 new players and get rid of the deadwood we're going to have a small squad.

2.) We have many players who deserve chance in likes of M Keane, Powell, Henriquez, Lindgard, Vermijl and Zaha. And I am sure some of people here will add even more youth likes of Wilson.

3.) Red Samurai, your on a different planet if you think signing 2 CM and a LB will be enough to challenge for league and Europe. Our defence has been sjambok if this season. With Vidic and Rio gone we most defiantly need a CB, and a top class one at that to play along side Evans/Jones/Smalling, all 3 of whom are dodgy to say the least.

As for players from our youth system, if they aren't good enough they aren't good enough simple as that. You also realise Adnan has only been here 2 years, we signed him in 2011 from Anderlecht, he's hardly a product of our academy. Cleverly and welbeck are and look where that's got us,

As for zaha he isn't and will never been united standard! Stop living in the past as most do! We produced the class of 92, it was a one off and we won't see that number of players going on to success the same again. Never

Regardless of the points and where we are. I definitely like Moyes way of boosting Team morals and keeping up the Manchester united spirit! With appointment of Nicky Butt and Scholes as Coach in our youth. With Neville and Gigss becoming coach for senior players. It sets a strong Manchester united spirit in whole club. Which is crucial for future of United.
Asked if he would try to bolster the squad
"We will try in January, " he said.
"I am quite actively looking at our own boys. The likes of Jesse Lingard, Nick Powell and Ryan Tunnicliffe.
"We have quite a lot of boys on loan and they are the ones I am making sure we keep eyes on. They are the future. They are part of the club. They have been in the system. We hope they might be able to come back and help in if we need it in January."

That alone gives huge moral boost to out young players. I am sure when they read this, it will only motivate them and have them working harder. Obviously with Januzaj being a first team regular now. It sends message to our young players that if they work hard enough and if they are good enough they will get their chances! Regardless of Pogba and Morrison, I felt that young players not getting chance only sends a wrong message to youth players.

And now I am so happy with what he said about Rooney.
"What Wayne is doing is making the others play well because he is playing well. He has turned himself into a real team player, "
"With the assists for the team and the goals, his all-round contribution has been fantastic."
"He (Rooney) needs to show the young players, " Moyes said. "He has a big responsibility to show the next generation the standards that Manchester United set.
"You go through the years and look at people like Ryan Giggs and the advice he gave to Wayne Rooney. Wayne has now to give it to Adnan Januzaj and the new players coming up."

Rooney seems to be the player who needs these encouraging words. And he is regularly on Team of the week. Last year he played crucial role. Playing in that hole, working his socks off with tackling and assist. He is now 28. He probably have a good 5 years in him. If he stays for the rest of his career at United, he will definitely set a new record. Not only that Moyes encouraging words might help, direct and give Rooney a more important Role in club, not only as football player but as mentor and a role model.

So overall I am very happy with the progression of our team. I definitely would like January signing of Midfielder( someone who can hold and pass the ball around) a partner to Phil Jones and long term partner to Fellaini(Once he finds a form). And possibly Coentrao on loan.
And then in summer we can add another Midfield, Lb, and Winger and possibly bringing players depending on availability and out going players.

So onwards and forward we march!

I know like me everyone is bit annoyed and frustrated! Infact scared even, becoz this feeling is alien to us! And with all the media hype and pundit bashing us! It puts doubt in our mind. But this is not any ordinary club, we are United and I know that we will come back triumphant! To Be a true Champion, we must face an obstacles of biggest magnitude! And at the moment, with rubbish squad, the new manager, and the new era. We are facing that greatest Obstable, now whether We come out as a True Champion or a sore Loser. Partially depends on us. We have to believe in our club and with that the new Manager! Who knows we might see the attractive football, a new United like a phoenix as we reborn from the fire of Old SAF era! A better, stronger, ever United. Manchester United!

Ps I think everyone should watch THE CLASS OF 92!

Red Samurai

1.) Red Samurai

The sentiment is spot-on but the fact is, we don't have a 'class of 92' in the wings do we? We have what we have, and what we have isn't good enough to be a top team. Without signings, we will struggle.

2.) Red Samurai a lot of us have supported Manchester United for more than 27 years so no its not alien to us. Look at the clubs decline following the busby era so what makes you think just because we are MU that we will be champions under Moyes?

3.) Spot on Acker. When Busby retired we all thought things would carry on as normal, but George Best wanted out as he saw an aging team, lacking star signings. (Ring any bells)?
We have gone full circle and the last time this happened we didn't win the league for nearly 30 years! Maybe City will now put up a banner like the one we had for years.
Losing games isn't a crime, but Moyes brand of football is. Midfielders that only pass sideways and backwards, strikers that have to come back to their own half to get the ball, and a bench that wouldn't improve most Premiership teams, let alone ours.
The season is over for us, time to put our faith in our youngsters. Not exactly the class of 92 but could they be any worse than our so called 'stars'?

4.) Tommy gun very good post

How many people here believe that we need a CB! Keeping in mind we have Vidic, Evans, Smalling, Jones and Keane( I rate him very high). Surely the priority is 2 CM! Unfortunately we have given Ando enough time and Cleverly might just be a squad player. With Carrick ageing! And I am not so sure that Fletcher can ever come back to full fitness. Ashley Young just has to go, because him being in squad is waste! We might aswell give our youth player chance come and prove themselves!

At the moment looking out, I can see several amazing players who Manchester United should look out for and have them in transfer target. I have watch and followed each player very closely! And I am so excited!

ilkay Gundogan 23 (heard Barca and Real inquired about him) and he hasn't signed an extension just yet! Rene thinks that he should be our priority transfer!

Arturo Vidal 26 (just agreed on contract extension 2017) The Man is a BEAST

Marco Verratti 21( don't be fooled by his age) Tough tackling and sprays the ball beautifully!

Nemanja Matic 25 (at 6.4 ft, he has attention from all the big clubs!)

and there are these players who has flairs, can hold the ball, dribble and pass it anywhere!

Miralem Pjanic 23 ( this season Roma r doing extremely well, and he is one of the reason)

Koke 21 ( I think this one is feasible since they have Eric Torres coming up and apparent talks with Chelsea about De Bryne)

Ivan Rakitic 25 (9 goals in 20appearance says enough!) Ramsey of Sevilla!

Ander Herrera 24 ( I doubt he needs an introduction) He played brilliantly against Barca!

Obviously we have Nick Powell, Ben Pearson, Andreas Pereira! Once our midfield is sorted rest of the team should fall in place!
I can't fathom the price tag for Baines being £18m+, Might as well pay that much to Southampton or Altberto Moreno Although obviously cheaper option is Fabio Coentrao!

Red Samurai

1.) 100% agree with you. I rate Moreno higher than Baines he is faster and better in one on one situations and a much better dribbler. Baines has a better cross and shot. But Moreno is only 21 and a physically stronger player than Baines in a few years. I like shaw as well. Matuidi from PSG is also a top player, tough as nails and at that age where he is coming into his peak.

2.) Evertonian in peace.Like you say Red Samurai, Baines is overpriced. Leave him with us, we will be glad to keep him. Go for others. Or face reality, you have to pay the going rate for one of the best full backs in the world. If not, he stays with us. It used to be the case where Manchester United wanted a player, so they got the player. These days your noisey neighbours and Chelski being in the market means that if you won't pay the price, then they will. Plus right now he is under contract so is with us and we can hold on to him until it runs down. then you get him for free. but probably have to pay more wages.

I tend to agree that midfield need more work than our defence. But it remains that Moyes has used 11 different combinations of defenders this season.

The fact of the matter is nearly always its the team that conceeds the least number of goals wins the league. You need to be built on solid foundations inorder to give your attacking players the freedom to run riot at your opponants. All of our recent success was built on the solid partership of Rio and Vidic along with Evra who at the time was arguably the best LB in the world. Unfortunately they have got old and have lost that yard of pace and are unable to stay fit for the entire season. So we have to keep chopping and changing our defence which has caused chaos at the back with a lack of communication and leadership. This has allowed teams to score goals against us that a few years ago they just wouldn't have had the chance.

So all three need replacing thus allowing the new defenders to come together and for a cohesive unit and make us defensively solid again. The new defenders will need time and consistant runs of games together to get this. That sadly means that not only do Rio and Evra need to move on but sadly Vidic too. Having Vidic keep popping in and out of the line up will be too disruptive to the other defenders.

If Rio Vidic and Evra are to leave then we will need to see a LB and a CB come in as we will only have Evans Smalling Jones and young Micheal Keane as our centre back options. Now unfortunately all of Evans Smalling and Jones have had injury concerns so a new CB who can stay fit and be the main player maybe needed to step in. Personally i'd have loved to have seen Benatia come in last summer. Sadly he is probably unavailable now. Mangala looks a great option but he will.be very expensive and there are several clubs we would have to beat to his signiture. My favourite choice is Bruno Martins Indi, he has shown leadership qualities while also young and be more able to adapt to a new league, he's strong in the air and the tackle while he still has plenty of pace and is good on the ball. He is also capable of playing at LB which would give us some cover if ever needed. His lower transfer fee would also leave more money in the kitty to splash out on other positions within the team.

As for midfield I would agree a deal with Dortmund where they get Kagawa and some money(around 10m probably) and we get Gundogan. Gundogan is wanted by some other top clubs so we may have to sacrifice Shinji to be able to get him. Dirtmund I think would be willing to let him go due to his contract running down and the fact they have a deal with Madrid to sign Sahin for around 7m I think to replace Gundogan.

Also as much as i'm a big fan of Kagawa I just don't think he will adapt to the Premier league or our style of play so he maybe better off heading back to Dortmund.

I would replace him with Remy Cabella, I think he is much more suited to the Premier league and he can also play deeper than Kagawa if needed, this would give us an extra player capable of playing in midfield and greater tactical flexablity.

It think Gundogan and Cabella along with Powell returning and Jones able to push up into midfield if needed wouls give us the adequte options without stiffiling the chances of players such as Powell and Pearson both of whom I rate very highly.

4.) Yes we need a CB along with a LB, a CM and a right sided attacking player. If any players leave we will need more. Vidic is coming to the end of his time at United in my eyes and will be gone in another 1 or 2 seasons at most. Evans I don't feel is good enough for a first teamer, Smalling and Jones could be but they aren't there yet and there are no guarantees. Keane looks very good but again he is a few years away from being a regular. I feel we need a CB who is in his late 20's and at the top of his game. This would give us better strength now while not hindering the younger guys developing over the coming years.

5.) 06 Dec 2013 15:13:32
For me the best two CBs we could go for are Mehdi Benatia or Jan Vertonghen both though would cost alot, its just whether you can justify spending that much on a CB when the midfield needs such an overhaul.

Syd

I came back after a month just found out tht eds are gone.
How about Erickson? what's news on him?
I doubt Gundagon can be assigned creative midfielder role, in terms of creative Sahin is considered more creative than him at Dortmund.

We don't have any problem with home grown. Since De Gea, Evra, Lindeegard, Chicharito, Vidic, Anderson, Nani, RVP, Valencia, Shinji, Buttner, Fellaini, that would make it 12.
And rest of Evans, Ferdi, Smalling, Rafael, Fabio, Young, Carrick, Giggs, Cleverly, Rooney, Welbz, Fletcher, Ben Amos. That make is it 13.

By the end of January we have to submit any change to the squad. The only way we can bring in players in January is if we send players on loan.

Most likely Ben Amos will be extending his loan for the remainder of the season. Since Carlisle united are waiting for approval for the extension of loan.
If I have to name someone else it would be Fabio. Unless we get a Left back, we can not let Buttner on loan. Obviously there is Macheda whose loan has ended but still decisions to be made since he will take a space if he is to come back.

Most likely if we send Fabio on loan, we can get 2 INs, if not there is only one spot for transfer INs.

I don't think we will sell players unless we are sure that we are getting our targets(if targets are sorted out at first place).

I agree Mick1

I have been watching lot of him. He is exactly the player we need in our midfield. Height of 6 ft, with exquisite and decisive passing. I am most impress by his strong character, humble, quiet and great football brain!, exactly the player we need! I for one hope we are looking at him instead of Herrera! There are lots of amazing midfield players like him, Vidal, Gundogan and Koke. We better secure service of one of them in January! Our midfield is the position the desperately needs improvement.

Good Post! I totally agree with Fellaini bit, the only thing he need is to quicken the tempo and passing more quickly. He seem to a very quiet guy specially off the pitch. He needs to stamp his authority! Hopefully with more games that will happen. After all remember how we use to play with one touch football! We have quality players. just need to gel more and play one touch football specially at opposition. Regardless after today I do more positive. We have a game before we meet Arsenal! It will be interesting game!
