There is so much speculation on who LvG is going to sign. He is well connected to world football in a way Moyes and even SAF were not he has ties all around the world and from my understanding from what I read he knows the top players inside out. I do believe he has looked at the potential transfer list we had and has gone for one or two but I think we will not see any transfers in before he takes over full time after the world cup. I think he will want to do the press talk with his new players at the same time and we will not know who the transfers are until the last minute which for all of us is going to be frustrating as hell, hope i'm wrong and Woody has an announcement to make on transfers but i'm not holding my breath LvG will keep his cards close to his chest he seems like a good poker man to me and that's what we need if we want a good transfer window last years was the worst ever it has to be done with real purpose and meaning this time i'm hopeing for Shaw or Rodiguez, Carvalho and Racitic and was hopeing for Garay but would be happy with Indi just don't sign us Vlaar and tell us Strootman will be here once he has over come his injury.

katef

1.) I disagree Kate. I think that we will signings announced whilst he is at the World Cup. He has Giggs here and Woodward here to delegate to (whether Woodward being in charge is good or not is a different question). But I don't see us waiting for example to finalize Shaw if it is going to happen. I must admit though, during the World Cup we will be quiet and very little will go on in the way of negotiations as most of who we want will be at the World Cup. The best scenario possible is that the Netherlands don't do well and get knocked out early so that LVG can start here and bring in a few of the players from there that he will want like Clasie, Janmaat and Depay.

I do think one or two names of our original list will last. Reus and Hummels being the main ones but I think without CL football getting either would be a struggle. I hope we buy young, with the odd bit of experience as we will have a hungry squad then.

2.) We will not announce any signings during the World Cup, Fresh. Why in gods name would a national team coach want one of their players to be mobbed by the press about a transfer during the middle of the World Cup? Why would the players want that distraction?

We may well wrap up some deals before the World Cup and they could well be announced before. I expect they will be announced after, however.

3.) As I said, they won't be announced during but will be before and after.

4.) How silly of me. It's not like your first sentence was 'I think that we will signings announced whilst he is at the World Cup.'.

To be fair you do state that it will be quiet during the world cup later on though.

5.) I think Fresh meant to put a full stop after announced. Then his second post makes absolute sense.

Great comments from Mata today in the press he says it all really, and next season is going to be a whole different one to this season that's for sure, the major overhaul of the squad and signs have been there in the last few games that we are not as bad as lots say and we can build on Mata and Kagawa and others and make a very strong side I cannot wait for the summer and the transfers and the world cup I wonder who will be the big stars of Brazil Carvalho perhaps, hope we sign him before just in case lol, early transfer presents are over due Woodwood ya got us Fellanini and Mata now go get us another four like that better if possible and next season bounce back the united way

katef

1.) I really don't think so. Moyes stumbled across something potentially great in Mata-Kagawa. Either Rooney or Van Persie were out, while Januzaj was off form and Young was injured. I don't think he has the cojones to get rid/ bench Rvp or Rooney, making it unlikely he would be able to fit both Mata and Kagawa in the starting 11, much less get the best out of them

2.) Like a lot of you, I was glued to the TV at the end of the January window, and am very surprised that we have nobody, yet, lined up for summer. The quote, from slysports, on their Man U info, was something along the lines of "There will be no further signings this window but wait till the summer you will be astounded by some of the signings".

3.) Agree with Mick on this one. I think Moyes only played kagawa/mata as rvp and Rooney were injured. He also is prepared to sell Hernandez who can fit in that formation very well as he makes diagonal runs across the defence.
So its going to be more of the same with rvp/Rooney playing but with a more powerful midfielder to make the team more difficult to beat. We will not be an offensive team under Moyes, its not his style.
I also think that we're going to find it very difficult to recruit the TOP players this summer. So I don't think the lines of kroos Fabregas Reus will be coming. These players are all tied in and playing for top teams, so will be very difficult to prise them away. Also, the players themselves have to have the desire to come, and without CL and a top manager, I can't see that happening easily.

4.) If we sign players like Reus and having signed Mata we will be an attacking team. I can't think of a much better front 4 than Rooney, RVP, Reus and Mata - that's pretty special. Those 4, however they line up will be superb together and with a solid midfield behind them (even if its only William Carvalho & Fellaini) we will be much better. A quicker defence will mean we can play a higher line and width will be supplied by the full backs. A much better team who will play much better football and our options from the bench won't be players like Young, it will be players like Kagawa.

The under 21s play Norwich at OT tonight Pearson and Wilson to start and if they have a good game and get no knocks may well get on the bench for next Saturdays visit from Norwich this will be an achievement that should not be overlooked by fans. Something very good is about to come from our youth set up Pearson and Wilson are the two best young English footballers to come along for a long time and its rare to get two this good at once I have heard Nicky Butt and Scholes talking about there potential and both Butt and Scholes have said Pearson is right up the with Scholes himself in terms of ability and Wilson is the best player they have ever seen Ronaldo included at the same age throw in Januzaj and one or two others were a very lucky club and this soon influx of youth talent could not have come at a better time with all these super rich owners buying up every good player sometimes just to stop others buying them well there is two here that no Real Madrid or Man city can ever get there hands on read it and weep boys the class of gems like 92 is coming

katef

1.) Thanks Katef I'll be watching for them. Mick1 is being lazy :) and not posting as much about our youth.

2.) 17 Apr 2014 17:42:55
Hi Katef,
I think we have 3 potential top class players in Wilson Pearson and Rothwell, I would like to see Wilson promoted at the expense of Hernandez next season. I would like to see Rothwell and pearson go on loan as a pair to Brighton in the championship next year to work under a top continental coach that would nurture and improve their movement and technical ability. I see both coming back after a successful season 14/15 to replace fletch and carrick as 1st Team players at the begining of the 15/16 season.
Janko needs another season at u21 level for me Perriera has a lot in his locker no doubt but the right loan move is essential Ideally i'd like to see him and Keane on loan Sunderland under Poyet if they get relegated
Michael Keane I'd like to see him on loan in the premiership if we sign a top class experienced centre half for the 1st team maybe Leicester
Lingard promoted at the expense of young/valencia/nani
Powell needs a PL loan maybe Southampton as part of any shaw deal with Lambert a year older and Rodriquez out till xmas

A lot of the young guys 19 to 21 on loan all over the leagues have done nothing special this season they will all return till at least xmas next year.

3.) MU are scouting Gaston Pereiro for the U21's. 18 year old midfielder who plays for Nacional.

I see Wilson getting one or two appearances before the season is up. He deserves it.

4.) 17 Apr 2014 18:14:19
You may well be right Syd but RVP will be back to prove his fitness before the WC and will need the games . I think it may well be pre season while WC late comers are away before we him getting game time. but he will be in and around the squad no doubt. It will be a big summer for him if he comes back, stronger fitter and fills out he may well save us a fortune all those in the know have the highest of hopes for him. Shearer like in my opinion scores tap ins headers volleys solo dribble goals long range efforts free kicks and holds the ball up well and he has movement you just can't coach he is a natural born footballer and goal scorer

5.) Sorry Grund, here's my take on it.

Wilson for me is a top class talent, one of the best I have seen at the academy. I believe he is more talented than Lingard, Keane, Welbeck and all your other garden variety outstanding talents. He's imo up there with Januzaj, Daehli and Rossi in terms of ability ( his physical qualities might even push him further ). The only player who has a higher ceiling than Wilson is Ravel Morrison, who is an absolutely world class talent ( with your Draxlers and Max Meyers ) but whether or not he will reach such heights is a mystery.

After Wilson, in terms of sheer talent, you have Pereira. I recall when there was comparisons between Daehli and Januzaj, with Daehli proving to have superior close control and technical ability but was not as arrogant or self confident as Januzaj, therefore making him more inconsistent. Pereira has the self belief of Januzaj but has a wee bit more technical ability to his game, especially when it comes to defensive work but he has the inconsistency of Daehli.

He tends to disappear a lot in games but he is capable of the sublime. Right now he is playing as a number 10, but I believe his long term future lies at number 8, where he will be more capable of asserting his dominance on a game.

After Wilson and Pereira, we have Rothwell and Pearson.

Pearson is technically sound, but without much skill/ability to drive forward. His passing is consistent, crisp, and rarely mirubbishs. Imagine if Cleverley was better defensively, and you have Pearson. He's not very creative, except for the odd long ball and does not contribute much offensively, but he displays a very good reading of the game and tactical awareness. He is a more tenacious Carrick if you'd like ( with more pace ) I'm not one of the fans who rave about every young talent that comes through and I have a lot of doubts about him. He is likely to progress a la Cleverley, loans and what not, unlike Wilson and Pereira who can break into the first team like januzaj did.

Rothwell on the other hand has impressed me more than Pearson. Last season, when they were both playing at U18 level, they looked equally impressive. Pearson had more games to his names, and his off the ball movement, along with his short passing and consistency of his occasional long ball had some similarity to the way Paul Scholes played, therefore he was kind of over rated by some of our fans, with Rothwell ignored. Rothwell didn't have an easy time with health issues and injuries, but when he played he was just as impressive. Imagine Ryan Tunicliffe. Now improve his passing, his technical ability, keep his engine and take away some of his tackling ability and there you go. In easier terms, a more talented Fletcher.

That's about it for the U21s. I don't rate Janko as a winger, he reminds me too much of Valencia but I believe he'd make a good full back. James has been playing at left back for 2 years now, and despite doing a very good job, he is a central midfielder and i'd like to see him get more minutes there. Varela is ready to be slowly blooded in.

6.) Mick, it is thought that Janko will be a fullback. MU are doing like they do with a lot of youngsters and are keeping him versatile. Michael Keane has been a RB for a lot of his youth, but will be a CB by trade. MU like to keep their youth players versatile. I think later on Janko will move back and learn his defensive trade.

7.) Thanks for the summary Mick1. Future looks bright and it would be nice to see some of our young English players progress into the first team.

8.) Syd, I certainly hope his future is at full back. In one game in particular ( cannot remember which one ) Janko tried to keep swapping wings. He popped up on the left and tried to go Ribbery on his fullback's back side, fair to say he has not appeared on the left again.

Ekangamene is playing in defense, Thorpe played in midfield, Januzaj played as a false 9, versatility is very important in today's game, but sometimes we seem to overdo it. Blackett seems lost both at full back and center back ( he was progressing nicely as a fullback ), James has the look of Anderson on his face every time he plays on the left despite having played there in 2 years. God knows where Tom Lawrence played.

I just hope that Moyes does not decide he needs another Valencia in the team.

With us being linked to Shaqiri and the manager being linked to the other two outstanding Swiss young players when he was at Everton those players being Granit Xhaka and Ricardo Rodriguez. None of these players will be at the world cup maybe for there hols but that's it lol, two need to move to bigger and better and Shaqiri is not getting enough game time at present Ed 02 says Bayern are looking to of load him let's hope so as he would be perfect for our team as would the others it would be a very wise move by Moyes if he could pull off a triple swoop, there realistic transfer targets unlike Cesc was, all three are young which fits the rebuild they all play in postions were we need to strengthen all be it a centre half although I bet Granit can play there if needed, there all from the same country Switzerland which should help them settle and all play with a togetherness on the left hand side which they all play. I think Moyes could well have been watching these players as he has before I hope so because for me it makes so much sense

Maybe Buttner is involved with the deal for Shaw and Evra will be his mentor

Agree Fresh! he is an exceptional player if he is in top form he is as good as Sanchez or Reus at his best maybe better. I think of all the players that do need to go he should get one more season to see if he can get it right his talent is warrants it. I would not bat a eye lid to see Cleverly Anderson or Young go but with Nani its got to be worth the effort to get him to come good and if we were to get some players from his national team to sign it may help him find his feet for the long haul and not once every 20 games

I hope we do sign Shaw but I think we will get Conteao Garary and Carvalho I also think Nani will be better suited in having his fellow country men with him if he could get back to his best we would not need any other players, in the youth we could fill the voids. A team of DDG Raf Garary Jones Contrao Carvalho (and he has a chance Pearson would partner Carvalho within a season or two for sure )Kagawa Rooney Mata and RVP With Januzaj Wilson Powell Nani Valencia Carrick Felliani Smalling Evans Buttner Welbeck Cleverly Fletcher, we have a deep and strong squad of young players that could grow well together, we don't need to many new signings this summer three top class players in the right positions and youth were set for a long time

As good as he is we don't need him with the current strikers we have RvP and Rooney are on his level and Wilson may be even better than all of them in a few seasons if he reaches his potential.

Kompany was not a average midfielder to be fair he was moved there by Hughes he was a versatile player with loads of potential much like Jones and his best position was always centre back I knew before he came to city that he would be a class act and that's why city signed him

No deals will be done until after the world cup and LvG is in the country to unveil his new signings. Vermaelen is a player I think we will sign. LvG knows how to manage a budget and will know he does not need a massive squad as we have no European football he just needs to trim a little more add the right quality and blood the outstanding youth Januzaj will thrive along with Wilson and a few others from the youth so we need not worry I think were in better hands than this time last year Moyes made the mistake of thinking he had time to decide who he wanted to keep and who he wanted to let go LvG will rip this team apart if he has to and he won't take things slow let's just get to August and see what has happened by then, I cannot see us signing players last minute.com like we did the previous summer.
