A quick question regarding Fabinho for Eds or anyone else:

He signed permanently for Monaco in May this year, having been on loan there from Rio Ave for 2 years, will Monaco be looking to sell him straight after purchasing him outright?

Thanks in advance,

tbir.

{Ed004's Note - They could if the offer was good enough}

With LvG set to come in and presumably he will play his favoured 4-3-3 formation, how does everyone see:

1) our midfield looking, as traditionally he plays with one holding midfielder and two more energetic runners

2) the RVP-Rooney partnership working, how can both be accomodated in this formation

3) Mata's role in the team

4) New signings coming in?

tbir.

1.) Strootman, Kroos and either Rooney or Mata in the middle as the most advanced player. RVP as the main striker with either Mata or Rooney to one side and Reus the other. Rotate with Januzaj & Welbeck mainly. I think Shaw is nailed on now, Rafael will be reinvigorated and then have one of Smalling or Jones partnering Hummels.

2.) Fresh - I would be in absolute dreamland if United were to sign Strootman, Kroos, Reus, Hummels, and Shaw but do you think that's possible?

3.) I think its the aim but I will be surprised if it comes off.

The only way Rooney will play here next season is if he is prepared to apply himself correctly and if he is prepared to be coached in order to improve. I'm not sure he has the discipline or attitude both on and off the pitch that Lvg demands. Running all over the place and neglecting your position in order to chase the ball will not impress lvg in fact its anti his philosophy. So the question Is Wayne prepared to learn or is he going to continue doing his own thing?

With the papers reporting that we're interested in David Luiz, does anyone see us, if we got him, playing him as a CDM with Carrick, rather than Fellaini? I would rather pay £30m for Luiz than £20m for Fellaini that and the signing of Özil would be a great summer for us, imagine:

De Gea; Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra; Luiz, Carrick; Özil, Rooney, Kagawa; Van Persie

any thoughts?

I think that both Baines & Fellaini would improve our team, Baines' talent is un-doubted and imo he is the best English left back over Cashley.

Fellaini adds the steel that we are lacking, as well as an aerial threat from midfield.

£35m for the pair is about fair, however, we would still need a creative midfielder, e.g. Modric/Fabregas etc to compliment these siginings, this would give us real strength in depth to challenge both domestically and in europe

Just a quick question to the people saying that Antonio Valencia gave up his number at the end of the season.

Why did he wear no.7 against Sevilla at Rio's testimonial, where all other players wore their correct numbers?

Not saying that it definitely means that someone is coming in to fill it, just strange that after wearing it against Sevilla, United would then announce the change?

Just a thought, can any of the eds or anyone else confirm we did actually bid for Thiago and Fabregas?

Just thinking, could this really be a decoy to shy attentions away from signing the 'stellar' player the club have been alluding to a la Ronaldo or Bale?

As far as we know Fabregas has said he doesn't want to leave, Villanova has said he doesn't want to go, are we in for someone else?

Who knows, let's see who this 'major signing' turns out to be. Fellaini probably

Ed001 & Syd,

do you think that the club would announce Ed Woodward leaving Oz, to deal with 'major transfer business' which is said to be a player coming in, if it was to secure Baines and/or Fellaini?

I can't see that the club would be that naive as to let supporters know a signing is on the way and creating this hype for us to sign someone like that.

Not that they're necessarily bad players, it's just that the way the club have gone about it, it seems as though (although I hate to use the word) a 'marquee' signing is being negotiated

what do you reckon?

I think you're right Syd, if we're going to sell Rooney I don't think we'll do so without either at least replacing him or completing 2-3 signings before.

Who do you think we could be in for?

If he had asked to change at Christmas time, why did he wear No.7 against Sevilla on Friday?

I just think (hope) that transfer activity could have inspired this. {Ed007's Note - Was the team maybe numbered with the traditional 1-11 on Friday?}

What an amazing summer that would be, where would you play Fab though? as a CM partner with Carrick or in a fluid attacking three with Kagz and Mata?
