Next season I'm not so sure LvG cares even 1 jot about big names he only worries about his system, I think we are all going to be amazed, disbelieving, angered even, how United start I think we will start slowly as the players get beaten into shape for the system.

We will have players who we thought were finished at United playing, I wonder if as a real outsider even Saidy Janko could end up in the first team squad.

Then again I'll probably be shown to be totally clueless

I agree. I think that LVG will bring a half of Dutch squad, with no big name. Really would like to know who are LVG targets.

I agree, he's not going to have very long to implement his style between after the WC and before the season starts, therefore it's going to run into the season. I think around Christmas time the players will start to get used to the style and tactics.

Any player who takes 5 months to xmas to get used to a new system should not expect to keep there place in the team. These are highly paid, highly skilled footballers so if they cannot adapt to a fast pace, exciting new system there is a big problem. The only exception ill give is when they are asked to play a boring slow system like under Moyes.

It's not just about each individual player adapting, the players must learn to work together as a unit. Things like this do take time. LvG will probably have just two weeks with all of the players together. It will take much longer to get things the way he wants it. So we may be plodding along up until around Christmas time tweaking things game by game. I still think we will be an instant improvement on last season, but for us to be challenging the best I think LvG will need a few months to get the players used to his philosophy.

Out of all our fringe players, I expect Lingard and Powell to be the closest to the team unless they are loaned out. I would not discount Bebe though, a big, quick winger who likes to cut inside and fire bullets.

I disagree about Janko though. Van Gaal likes his wingers to stay wide, and cut inside the second they get the ball. Janko, up until now, has played as an out and out right winger, running down the byline and crossing it, something that is unlikely to stick well with a manage who likes a modern version of total football.

Janko is more likely to make it at right back in the long term.

I am starting to agree with this. I think we all want the big name players to get excited about but from what I have read Van Gaal will not buy them for the sake of it like Moyes did. If it means younger unexpected signings then that is fine by him as long as they fit his system.
As for players there now I have a hunch that Nani may get a final chance as I think his speed and skill suits the 433 system. who knows!van gaal maybe the one to make him work.

Van Gaal always seems to start slowly with teams until his strategy is in place he aims for intelligent players as thicko's will struggle.

As every player has to sacrifice himself for the team some players will never adapt Nani is one ~I expect to soon get short shrift from LvG Bebe wasn't bright enough to apply himself in training he admits, I wouldn't be surprised if Cleverley gets inspired to turn into the player we all thought he could have been

Pardoe, I agree with all of that. I just said on the Banter Page that Andow, Bebe & Nani will impress in preseason, but by October they will be out of the team. They just cannot follow instructions. Cleverley albeit a player who has struggled under Moyes (one of many), is a bright player who will follow instruction. If he isn't sold he could be someone who will work well under LvG. Very similar to Clasie, although Clasie is playing with freedom and he is on top of his game. Cleverley is nervous, scared on the ball and afraid to press forward. Something he wasn't afraid to do as a youngster, even up until the age of 21. In a three man midfield Cleverley could work well. That being said I wouldn't stop looking to sign better players.
