Bruno Amorim, another Bebe type signing?

1.) 11 Aug 2017 23:28:56
Think its more for the under 23s than the first team.

2.) 12 Aug 2017 06:12:30
Sydney. Good to c u again posting regularly. Done with your sabbatical?

3.) 12 Aug 2017 11:36:14
Why not? Mendes hasn't flogged is a player for a while. Lol.

31 May 2015 19:30:11
Rumour has it we are close to signing Schneiderlin.

1.) 31 May 2015 19:41:06
Potentially great news.

2.) 31 May 2015 20:05:39
I'd happily pay 25million for him. Great replacement for Carrick.

3.) 31 May 2015 20:28:28
Yet to see it reach main stream media, I always feel a bit better when Sky report it - seems to make it seem a little more real.

4.) 31 May 2015 20:54:01
Lately the forign media have been more on the ball than the English media. Like with Depay the dutch had him at utd whilst english media still had him signing for liverpool.

5.) 31 May 2015 21:20:50
British journos haven't had a clue since the Fergie regime, all their sources have dried up. Instagram has more accurate hit ratio than them.

02 Feb 2015 09:58:02
True apparently, but like Ed002's ex-missus has said PSG will not sell as they cannot get a replacement in time. I don't see anything happening until the summer. I expect huge amounts spent during the summer.

1.) 02 Feb 2015 11:09:14
Can you be a bit more clear Syd? Replacement for whom? Huge amounts spent by whom?

{Ed002's Note - He is talking about Marquinhos - but PSG really don't want to sell him.}

2.) 02 Feb 2015 12:30:43
Sorry MB, it was meant to be part of the Marquinios thread. There were reports today saying PSG aren't willing to let him go as there isn't time for them to do business. It kind of tied into what Ed002 said yesterday. That they will be unwilling to sell.

{Ed002's Note - It is not about a replacement Syd. What she said was that PSG really don't want to sell.

As an aside, I understand that Juventus want to take Hummels in the summer and want to agree a deal with Dortmund and the player in the coming weeks.}

3.) 02 Feb 2015 12:42:43
Thanks Ed, would MU be aware that there is strong interest from Juve and could that mean MU stepping in today to agree a deal?

{Ed002's Note - Unless his agent or Dortmund have told them already, I am sure they will soon know. I understand that Juventus have started work on three summer targets to try and get the moves agreed before Easter.}

4.) 02 Feb 2015 13:59:09
Ed002, i'm clutching at straws here, but do you see any incoming movement from us at all today? Looks to be very very unlikely at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - Absolutely Panebello.}

5.) 02 Feb 2015 14:37:55
Absolutely we will do business

Absolutely there's little chance

6.) 02 Feb 2015 14:52:37
I'd say the latter unfortunately RedMikey.

02 Sep 2014 21:21:55
A newspaper saying that Strootman is the January target and Hummels is still the main defensive target. We need to keep our eyes and ears open to who we are looking at for RB. Is it still Cuadrado or will we look for a more defensive RB?

1.) 03 Sep 2014 02:20:23
Right now all news regarding next transfer window targets not important. The importance is we need some result from the investment.

2.) Hi Syd, Strootman would be a good purchase, given the respective ages of Carrick and Fletcher.

3.) Strootman, I believe, was always LVG's preferred choice even over Vidal. Think he will join in January but agree with Syd, definitely need a new RB.

4.) Strootman a certain target. Whether Rome want to sell is another matter. Some media saying Johnny Evans to be sold to help fund January buys.

5.) Roma will always sell at a price. They were pretty reasonable with Benatia, so I think Strootman could be signed for less than £30m. He's not my first choice, but he is a player LvG likes.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Evans was sold and Hummels signed. Evans is a mistake waiting to happen.

6.) Bit harsh on Evans he was our best cb 2 seasons ago but if it meant hummels then who can complain. Dani alves will be available next summer but he's poor defensively. 2 names I'd like to put out there for rb are danilo from Porto and di sciglio from Milan who I think will be world class.

7.) Strootman was always going to be the preferred holding midfielder that LVG was going to go for

8.) Totally agree Syd, Evans is shocking, I would even put Smalling in the same bracket. Definitely need a world class CB and RB

01 Sep 2014 14:09:45
Leicester want Lawrence on permanent deal and Powell on loan.

MU have accepted a £3.75m off from QPR for Will Keane.

Burnley want Anderson.

Cleverley is Villa bound.

Welbeck Spurs bound.

Any other deals in the pipeline please post.

1.) Tom Lawrence permanent to Leicester and Nick Powell Loan to Leicester

2.) 01 Sep 2014 14:21:09
Everton had 8m bid turned down

3.) Anderson will go back to Portugal before Burnley. Burnley wouldn't be able to afford his wages for a start.
Villa cannot sign Cleverley until he lowers his wages demands, they have pretty much pulled out

All about the spine lads. Swap Blind with an on form Shaw and that side has it all. Perisic if still a target for Mata and wow.

1.) 13 Aug 2017 19:00:52
I wouldn't swap Perisic for Mata in games like that. Mata is unbelievable at getting into pockets of space when teams are playing so Defensive. Perisic would probably be better for games against the top 6 imo.

2.) 13 Aug 2017 19:07:48
If Shaw and Perisic had been playing perhaps we wouldn't have won 4-0.

13 Aug 2017 15:08:20
Strong line up for me. Seems Herrera did get dropped. Space for a box to box midfielder, but who?

Anyway I hope we can win today even if we scrape it.

1.) 13 Aug 2017 18:02:59
Yeah Its 4-0 syd.

09 Aug 2017 12:24:15
I've had a thought. What if Ibra isn't as far away from being fit as we are led to believe. What if we end our interest in a right forward and we see a front three of Lukaku, Ibrahimovic and Mikhitaryan leading the attack? Then Pogba, Matic and Herrera behind them.

Ibra will always play central. Lukaku has played left of front three before. Miki we know will be there anyway. Just a thought, but it may be something Jose is looking at?

1.) 09 Aug 2017 12:35:57
No room for ibra with lukaku.

2.) 09 Aug 2017 12:39:05
That's what I thought when we terminated his contract. However I feel something may be going on.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United did not "terminate" his contract.}

3.) 09 Aug 2017 12:57:49
Did they just not offer him a new one or take option of additional year?

{Ed002's Note -Nope.}

4.) 09 Aug 2017 13:28:40
3 central players in the front 3 positions. That didn't work out so well last season.

5.) 09 Aug 2017 13:51:03
We need pace on the wings. That is the Manchester United way of playing.

6.) 09 Aug 2017 13:51:54
Syd. I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that It was just a case of his contract with the club expired on 30th June.

7.) 09 Aug 2017 14:15:11
I'm confused why Miki has to play? He has been poor more than he has been good for us, his talent is obvious but he has not shown it in the Premier League and if we are playing a wide man rather than a number 10 then he wouldn't get a game for me.

08 Aug 2017 22:21:52
Don't want to bang on about his, but I think we'd be almost complete with someone like Bale instead of Lingard. Shaw left-back and Bailly beside Lindelof (who grew into game) .

Then the likes of Rashford, Lingard, Martial, Mata etc can be used when needed. Not sure it will happen, but if he can be talked into leaving, we should try. Perisic I know little about.

1.) 08 Aug 2017 22:31:05
Not going to happen syd unfortunately. Bale or Sanchez would transform us.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 22:42:03
I agree on Lindelof growing into the game. He has quality, he just needs time to grow into his position. Playing with Bailly would help a lot, as he is a lot more confident with the ball than Smalling.

3.) 08 Aug 2017 22:52:12
Well there's time and we do need a right sided forward. I wouldn't rule us out signing someone. Maybe there's a surprise out there.

I'm unsure Sanchez would be ideal. He isn't very defensive minded and Jose likes players to put in a shift.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 23:51:11
Jesus Syd where I reside they still say, "Whatever happened to Sydney! " Where have you been? You're a legend mate!

08 Aug 2017 18:52:47
Looks like Lingard will get his chance this season if no Perisic or Bale.

1.) 08 Aug 2017 19:16:24
From what I've seen of pre-season the starting 11 looks about right.

I think Martial has played ok, but Lingard has played better for me so deserves his chance. I hope he takes it.

{Ed004's Note - I agree. Lingard deserves to start. However if we improved on him and the left back (or Shaw/Martial fulfills their potential) we would have a very strong side}

2.) 08 Aug 2017 19:34:46
What you make of lindelof so far.

{Ed004's Note - I haven't been impressed. He's been our worst centre back on tour but I'm hoping that is down to nerves. Has given away a shocking penalty and lost his man at a corner although his passing does seem decent}

3.) 08 Aug 2017 20:26:34
watching the game and lingard does nothing for me. Would take martial or rash all day in any form on the pitch instead.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 21:37:28
I thought he's been playing plenty over the last season. When you say 'get his chance' what do you mean?

5.) 08 Aug 2017 20:00:33
Early days ed.

We need a large squad. No need to sell players unless they offer nothing to the team. We have a very good squad. On paper a very strong first XI. I'd offload players who add nothing, keep the players who add something, even if off the bench.

Liverpool treat games against top sides as a cup final that's why. Small club mentality. Although they aren't a small club history and fanbase wise. Then they go and lose to mid-table sides. It's very easy going through a season playing one game a week. Very few injuries and able to pick the same players. This enabled Chelsea to win the league. With the same side a season before whilst juggling Europe they finished 10th. It is harder playing on all fronts. I think it's perfectly reasonable to think Liverpool will finish top four with VVD and retaining Coutinho for one more season, but I'm not convinced.

They do need to do more work in this window otherwise they will be left behind. But we will see and that's the beauty of the EPL. There are so many surprises. Twists and turns. I'll wait and see what the teams do up until the league kicks off then i'll make my predictions. But as it stands I'm thinking top four as City, Chelsea, United and Spurs.

Stand - No chance IMO, Chelsea and Liverpool will find it much tougher this season with European football added to their schedules. Chelsea have bought well and I think they'll challenge still. City will spend £300m and will of course be up there. Spurs will be very good having kept all their players and then there's Arsenal. If they can sign Lemar they will have a decent first team, they will also prioritise the EPL for majority of Europa so will have fresh legs. We are going to be much stronger. Lukaku will score close to 30 goals and the youngsters are getting better. Our midfield picks itself and our defence and keeper will concede very few goals. So unless Liverpool do something special in this window and keep hold of Coutinho. I think 5/ 6 for them. Even with VVD and Coutinho I think 4th at best.

United tend to have extra year clauses on players. Generally they'll be activated whether the player is wanted or not as long as the player has value. So Mata may have 18 months left, but in reality it's like two and a half years. Fellaini probably isn't in Jose's long-term plans, but they were always going to activate his clause.

How is everyone any? What have I missed?

Money men will want to trim the squad, manager would like a fat squad to challenge with. I suspect a few will leave, but only when some arrive.

He was overpriced and MU didn't pay the asking price. I guess it's over with now or he's teasing interested parties to make a further bid? I don't know, but I guess if we don't pay the asking price then Jose isn't desperate for him or he has someone else in mind either this summer or next?

No that's a fair comment Shan, but the fact he creates chances from nothing is why you can forgive him. If he created naff all and was missing chances you'd sell him on, but if he carries on this was he will score a lot of goals eventually, but create many in the meantime.

Well I think Barcelona only need to trigger his release clause and he can join them.
