Great Sharkopod Ed. always enjoy them to be honest.

You teased several times about the coach (Jose) being at United or not. I'm assuming that's still all up in the air?

Thanks again, keep up the great work!

{Ed002's Note - Probably.}

1.) 16 Nov 2017 18:17:55
The Sharkopod is already out? I don't see it.

2.) 16 Nov 2017 19:30:28
Doesn't sound like there is much happening this Jan.
Interest moved on from dybala and Griezmann, could move for lewandowski in the summer to replace ibra and his outrageous wage .
Interest in a top end cb and savic again more likely summer if Jose still here.

3.) 16 Nov 2017 19:37:49
Ed can we have the link to the sharkopod posted here please.

{Ed033's Note -

Man Utd Sharkopod

4.) 16 Nov 2017 19:53:50
Jan - Try for Rose and maybe CM if Fellaini goes, maybe Ozil

Summer - Lewandoski, David and a CB (Umtiti or Upa Meccano? )

5.) 16 Nov 2017 20:38:14
Dayot Upamecano and if any there are to be any jan signings I thought it seemed more likely to be Rose and Fabregas.

6.) 16 Nov 2017 21:41:10
Can't see any coming in. More likely see players leave than anything. Only realistic one could be Fabergas. Going to have to wait to summer to see all the big names come in.

7.) 16 Nov 2017 21:43:18
I really can't see spurs letting rose go on jan. If rose is keeping his head down and not upsetting the camp I can see no reason for them to strengthen a rival for the remainder of the season.
Don't see much else on the horizon unless fellaini goes in Jan.
Not the best time to do business but sometimes a deal can be done that gives the squad a lift. I will live in hope for a left back.

8.) 17 Nov 2017 08:27:04
A car salesman a few months ago Claire store be one of Roses best mates whilst growing up, he did have pictures of the two of them playing golf at Forest pines on his phone.
He said tha Rose wanted to move to OT but Spurs were predictably playing hard ball. Make of it what you want but he s either a crazy stalker or telling the truth lol.

9.) 17 Nov 2017 11:55:57
Love those sort of rumours madhatter 🙂.

13 Jul 2017 00:58:57
I've read a few rumours Barcelona have bid for Semedo from Benfica. Nothing certain of course but I was quietly hoping that we'd sign him. I know you're a big fan as well Ed.

{Ed004's Note - I've seen them reports as well unfortunately. He's exactly what they need so it makes sense. I'm just hoping they continue to push for Bellerin}

1.) 13 Jul 2017 20:49:18
Apparently Semedo will be having a medical with Barcelona tomorrow so he's one to scratch off the list

I think Fabinho will happen there is also Serge Aurier since PSG have signed Dani Alves I sure he was mentioned on the sharkopod.

{Ed002's Note - Yes Aurier is the Plan C, so now I would suggest the firm target.}

2.) 13 Jul 2017 21:10:26
Will be interesting to see dave. Especially with the Ed saying Jose sees fabinho as a rb more than a cm, with the apparent block put on the matic deal maybe fabinho solves 2 problems.

{Ed004's Note - Gutted that we won't be signing Semedo I think everyone on here knows I wanted him however, Aurier isn't a bad back up option. Strong, quick and powerful. Has a good cross on him he just seems to lack discipline}

3.) 13 Jul 2017 21:20:03
tom/ ed004

Do you believe Chelsea would block a potential move for Matic over the Lukaku ordeal seems very petty if true I believe its media bull.

Haven't seen much of Aurier at all so couldn't pass judgment you've just got to trust the manager.

{Ed004's Note - I don't think Chelsea would block a move tbh. If the player wants to go there would be no point keeping him}

4.) 13 Jul 2017 21:44:02
Can't blame the of for wanting to get and play for Barca. Great move for club and player.

Suppose Darmian stays if we don't land any of our full back targets? Tonight he looked good towards the end of the season.

I think right forward and left back are far more urgent concerns for now.

5.) 13 Jul 2017 21:51:31
You know i was with you on this one ed04. Semedo would have been one of my fist signings so i too am gutted. Like you say Aurier is not a bad backup. The only issue would be that both he and baily would be away together for the African Cup of Nations.

{Ed004's Note - I didn't even consider that. Aurier is probably currently the better player but Semedo has a far higher ceiling.}

6.) 14 Jul 2017 06:05:34
Fergie very rarely signed players from Africa because of the timing of the Africa Cup of Nations.

23 Jan 2016 08:31:31

Does anyone know much about Rentaro Sanches? I've seen some YouTube clips but that's the extent of my knowledge. I also know he's a midfielder but which side does he play? Also do we think there's any genuine interest from Utd or is it paper talk?

Thought I'd ask as the search had no results. Cheers.

1.) 23 Jan 2016 12:22:43
Well he's a pretty short midfielder, can play centrally but think he's made for the number 10 role just off the striker ideally. Can play on both wings if needed but not natural there (right footed so LVG would obviously play him on the left), good vision and seems to make decent decisions given his age and inexperience. It's his first season in the senior team so has only played a handful of games, seems to have great talent but whether it's genuine realistic potential or not is still up for debate for me personally

How high is the interest? I'm not sure. We were there to watch Guedes and/ or Eliseu but rumour is he caught the eye. Demitri Mitchell and him had a moment on instagram which is where the rumour originated in the media, right before Mitchell deleted the post, but he has been watched

Potential for it to happen but a lot depends on price is guess as they're looking for a Martial type deal it seems. I'd be doubtful but you never know, we've paid through the nose for potential before now.

2.) 23 Jan 2016 13:23:55
Memphis seemed to make good decisions given his age and inexperience in a different, lower level league but as we've seen that can change when coming to the premier league. This isn't the type of player we should be looking for.

A right sided winger like Berardi would make much more sense. Then a CB, these should be our main concern.

3.) 23 Jan 2016 13:29:03
That's for the info guys, appreciated.

4.) 23 Jan 2016 23:05:51
I have read that he is more a deep-lying playmaker playing in a Carrick position. I havnt seen him play however. Hope this helps.

5.) 24 Jan 2016 21:04:29
Deep lying midfieder fron what I've seen breaks it up gets stuck in but also has the ability to break with pace. A fantastic prospect at only 18.

6.) 25 Jan 2016 11:20:23
He is quick, strong, tenacious and technically sound. He could play in any position in midfield or even on the wing.

But he is young, and far from ready to play for a top club. He will need to be given time to find his position and develop this skills before he is ready to move to a top team.

He is best of stay in Portugal for another 2-3 years. Even then he would only be 20-21 and have a long career ahead of him. Too many players are given the chance too soon amdnthis results in them never quite fullfilling their potential.

31 Aug 2015 18:07:12
It's all done apparently. De Gea to Real and Navas to United

1.) 31 Aug 2015 18:39:41

2.) 31 Aug 2015 18:55:19
I think the writing was on the wall for DDG as soon as LVG arrived? LVG JUST didn't LIKE HIM! Shame really as I think he was pushed out and we all now know what LVG can be like. an a*se! Shame Sir Alex couldn't stay longer to get DDG to sign?

3.) 31 Aug 2015 19:23:42
Pushed out? Come on ronnie it was well documented that he always wanted the real Madrid move. Fair play to him, he served us tremendously well and it was always his plan to move home.

Man utd left it late, maybe a mess but te fact is they had a fee of 30mil in mind and Real did not want to pay it until now. I think it's a good deal, good money for a player with one year left and a very good keeper in return.

I do admire Ed and the club standing up to the might of Real and holding out for a better fee. God knows they have taken some good players off us in the past for next to nothing.

Let's hope we can now sort out another forward player, maybe through in a CB for good measure. I think we would all be much happier then

4.) 31 Aug 2015 19:31:41
Haha we are blaming de gea wanting to go home on LVG now are we? Bloody hell.

31 Aug 2015 17:07:00
I read an ed say on another page that Mario Gotze has. 37million Euro release clause, any interest in him ed? Thanks in advance

{Ed004's Note - Don't think so}

1.) 31 Aug 2015 17:21:13
I believe that was the release clause he had at Dortmund, was it not?

2.) 31 Aug 2015 17:37:56
Perhaps I misunderstood, cheers

I'm not sure what other people's opinion is and although I'd like United to endeavour to catch City, I am happy with second place! To go from 6th last year to 2nd this year is fine with me! Build from there and go again next year I say.

1.) 20 Nov 2017 13:52:32
I’m sorry Luke but I can’t disagree with this more! We should NEVER settle for second best. We are Manchester United. Winning is in our DNA and once we start to settle for second best then we lose what makes us so special. I feel we have lost some of our soul since Fergie has left but I think slowly Jose is bringing it back.

I get what you mean that going from 6th to 2nd is decent but it isn’t for us. Maybe for spurs and Liverpool it is but we should always being aiming for first. Anything less is failure in my eyes. I think with our full team and pogba pulling the strings we have a decent side. I think we should enjoy chasing city down as we used to back in the day under Fergie. This is a crucial Xmas period and we need to build up a head of steam. Bring on city in 3 weeks time!

2.) 20 Nov 2017 16:44:25
Luke, are you really happy with 2nd place? We're Manchester United for God's sake. We can't be happy with 2nd. We need to win the league pretty soon and I've got to say, I can't see City slipping up. I think the league will more or less be over by February. They have a strong defence despite what deluded people think. They also have an incredibly talented midfield and attack.
We have Brighton followed by Watford and Arsenal and I can't see us getting more than 4 points out of these three games.
Our team looks totally unbalanced. Two wingers playing at full backs. Two strikers playing as wingers. Two centre backs who frankly speaking are not United quality (smalling and Lindelof) . Lots of work needed and lots of money and intelligence has to go into our next purchases.
So I'm not happy we're 2nd but we won't be anywhere near City come the end of season.

3.) 20 Nov 2017 17:08:47
In an ideal world of cpurse we want to be first in the league - that's who we r!

But to put a bit of persepctive on the postion we finish in -

What IF we finish 2nd in the league but our points and goal tally is enough that we would have actually won the league with the same amount over the last few yrs. Meaning city win it breaking a ptem reord for points.

I wouldn't be happy to lose and come 2nd but it would show a massive improvemnt.

4.) 20 Nov 2017 18:12:39
Why do we think we should be 1st just becuase we are man utd. the past means absolutely nothing people need to stop living the FERGIE dream.

Times have changed football has changed.

You live in the present and work hard and fight.

Being 1st is earnt not demanded becuase of past accolades.

I can see where he's coming from saying "happy with 2nd" becuase I think a lot of us would be happy with 2nd.

That's not saying WERE not aiming for first. I don't think you go into a season aiming for anything less than first. But just becuase of who the club is you can t just expect to be first. That's is given through being earnt.

We have played 12 games and already people are slating the team and the manager

We will be blaming the nets and the pitch soon.

Yes there's things that can be improved on but there's a reason why we're just fans.

We're far better improved than last season and even more so than the season before. Let's judge the team at the end of the season.

AAA - you say from our next 3 games we won't get more than 4 points what's that based on?

We're having our best season since we last won it. Scoring goals for fun and playing attacking football.

We've had 2 losses and the majority have gone into absolute meltdown.

If city were not doing as good as they are. the MAJORITY would be quite happy.

5.) 20 Nov 2017 18:29:32
Some have interpreted my comment as it was intended, others have not. I just feel that next summer if we have finished second that upon reflection I’d be completely ok with that. It would demonstrate a lot of improvement and the best season since Fergie left with reference to the league, and to me that’s ok! The cliche Rome wasn’t built in a day seems relevant here, I’d obviously have higher expectations next season but after taking several steps in the wrong direction in the last few years I’d be happy that we’re actually heading in the right direction again! I always hope United won the league of course I do but as some posters have mentioned there’s still areas of the team that need some work.

6.) 20 Nov 2017 18:29:58
We should never aim anything less than winning the league every season. We don't want to become complacent like Arsenal. Way to early yet to be settling for places. If we get to the end of the season and end up finishing 2nd. I don't think it be the end of the world. I do expect though to compete for every competition until we realistically can't anymore.

7.) 20 Nov 2017 20:39:02
I think we are far more competative now since Jose took over.

And last year proved are capable of winning trophies

Alot of the more experienced players have gone.

We are still in a transition and we are making positive steps

He may be annoying with the way he acts somtimes but he gets the job done and is a top class manager.

There's more than 1 trophy up for grabs and were far from out the race yet.

8.) 21 Nov 2017 00:08:50
Can't work out if you are serious or not 😂.

31 Aug 2017 21:11:57
Transfer window

Personally I feel you shouldn't rest on your laurels and should always be looking to strengthen, there's a few players available that I feel would strengthen our squad no end (Sanchez / VVD) . I also worry that we are an injury or two (namely Matic) from going back to last years form.

We've address a couple of really important areas, all the signs are there that we should be able to make a sustained challenge for the league. We did our business early and benefited as a result of this.

Overall I'm chuffed with the window, certainly stronger than last year, it would appear likely we will get top four and build from there perhaps even win it. The only rival I feel addressed issues in there squad is city, Liverpool arsenal and Chelsea all have not IMO and are a similar strength to last year, if not weaker.

May I take this opportunity, in what is the penultimate hours of the window, to thank all the Eds for their hard work, it's been great checking the page for updates and engaging in conversation. Well done to you all.

1.) 31 Aug 2017 21:55:47
I think it helps that so many other title contenders had horrific windows overall we probably addressed our weaknesses better than others and have some depth to our squad.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 22:29:00
I think Liverpool have strengthened salah looks direct and they look more balanced and are a real attacking threat i read they Jane 7 clean sheets in last nine prem matches that's not too shabby. I still think klopp is capable of clutching defeat from the jaws of victory and will cock it up if they get close to winning anything. So that's of great comfort😂
Echo everything you said re the eds. i'd love to see more of ed025 on this page too. Great ed for the banter and a real straight talker.
002 the oracle and no more to be said thanks for your insights and humour you enhance this page no end imo.
001 my favourite liverpool supporter. Your work on all the article's you post is fantastic and your opinion is one i have full respect for and thanks for the fair and respectful debate you provide when we have differing opinions.
004 often the voice of reason and your input here is valued greatly by all.
007. You are 1 funny MF. Super craic and one of the best stirrers in the business.
033 would any of it happen without you. King of the geaks😂
Cheers guys.
And to all the eds we don't see too much on tbis page👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.

{Ed001's Note - cheers kenny, we couldn't do any of it without you. Well not you personally, obviously we could all do without you at times ;-) but you as in the posters. It is you lot that make the sites what they are.

I have to agree with you on Ed025, despite being a bluenose, he is far from bitter and his views on players are just comedy gold! You defo need to hear more of them.}

3.) 01 Sep 2017 09:32:40
I echo that Ken! . Thanks for all the hard work Eds during this turbulent window.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Singh, we do appreciate the thanks. Even from ken.}

4.) 01 Sep 2017 10:09:03
001 your testing my patience😂😂 ill have to start appraising your work with a different set of eyes if your going to keep that up 😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - you know you love me ken :-P

5.) 01 Sep 2017 10:46:01
Ditto my friend.

26 Aug 2017 19:41:20
Last year after Ibra, our next top scorer was Mata with six goals. In the three games played this season:

Lukaku - 3
Pogba - 2
Martial - 2
Rashford - 1
Baily - 1
Fellani - 1

Brilliant to see goals coming from all areas of the pitch and having more of a threat than just our sole striker.

Now to deal with the inconvenience of the international break!

1.) 27 Aug 2017 00:07:25
Besides the confidence that the goals will give the squad as a whole, and individually to the goal scorers, it will also help in taking pressure off of each other. There are real expectations for Lukaku, Rashford, Martial and Pogba, so their early success should help in keeping each of them from pressing too hard to get a goal.

13 Aug 2017 19:37:55
Not sure if this has been mentioned but to come on and get an assist and a goal surely Martial has be in line for a start next game? Luckily I'm not the manager so I don't have to decide who to drop!

1.) 13 Aug 2017 19:39:33
Looked like he had a point to prove.

2.) 13 Aug 2017 19:40:10
I think that shows the strength in depth, it's a squad game nowadays. I love Mata but the thought of Martial and Rashford out wide supporting Lukaku is a little mouth watering.

{Ed004's Note - Think that is more suited to open games or games where we will look to counter attack. Whereas today we knew we were going to have to break down West Ham}

3.) 13 Aug 2017 19:54:08
Martial is a fantastic talent, but there are questions over whether he is hard working enough. He shines in the games we are on top, but can be done what is required when we are not?

That is what Mourinho is asking of him.

4.) 13 Aug 2017 20:02:23
If we play 4-2-3-1 then martial and rashford either side of miki could be the making of something special.

5.) 13 Aug 2017 20:14:06
He needs to cheer up, he has a face like a smacked arse most of the time which is disappointing for a young guy with the world at his feet.

6.) 13 Aug 2017 20:57:46
He does have a funny (not haha) demeanour. I think its as much that as anything that frustrates jose. Lots of talent can jose get it out of him or will either one give up on the other? If martial has the stomach for the fight and shows jose he wants it he has the talent to back it up. I think jose will test him mentally to the limit martial needs to respond or he will take his talent elsewhere.

08 Aug 2017 15:49:09
I quite often check the Sky Sports app for news however I'm becoming increasingly frustrated as it becomes more and more 'click bait' orientated. I see the headline VVD certain to leave for example and I'm under the impression there's been some more developments only for me to, ultimately, be dissappointed to see it is in fact just the opinion of one of their experts for instance Jamie Carragher. Does anyone find themselves irritated by this?

1.) 08 Aug 2017 16:26:23
I don't bother with it anymore, BBC is going the same way, " " all in yellow, then it's "X player MAY leave", or "X player is probably not leaving", or stuff like that anyway. I bitched about it last year with them trying to pass off women's football as the same as men's football, with main headlines like "City make record signing", only for it to be for women's football, next it will be overseas clubs with "City" in their name.

It's annoying that you can't trust headlines or even full articles anymore on account of lazy/ poor journalism. Nothing ever seems to be what it seems. One correct story seems to count for 15 incorrect BS articles. Same with so many things now, press conferences another one. No accountability and too many vested interests.

Most people don't have the time to research things with a fine tooth comb, but you'd expect the people paid to "inform" to actually be rewarded on providing accurate information, not how many people they can trick/ mislead/ attract with half truths or incomplete details. Problem is the competition creates a rat race, rather than improving the content, bring in the regulators is what I say because it's all so corrupt now and the people suffer.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 16:35:04
Irritated by Jamie Carragher? Often. His analysis is actually quite good but his squeaky voice is annoying.

3.) 08 Aug 2017 16:37:53
Jamie Carragher infuriates me on a daily basis!

I can't even watch him with the sound off.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 16:53:12
Sky have hit a new low this summer.

Their fees are deceiving. Implying add-ons are part of the final fee. For example Lukaku for "£90m", not £75m. Pickford for "£30m", not £18m.

I have no idea what the actual transfer fees are but it seems Sky don't either and including ongoing fees just glorifies transfers which is surely only adding to this ridiculous market.

5.) 08 Aug 2017 17:07:22
Welcome to the era of fake news, of which the bbc are one of the worst for it. Too busy pushing an agenda.

Sky sports are just looking for suckers to place bets.

6.) 08 Aug 2017 20:38:09
What agenda do you think the BBC is pushing with "fake news" exactly Mort?

I think our weakness is both full backs, it wouldn't be so abundantly obvious if they did see so much of the ball. I'm not going to rant and rave about it though, we've certainly got enough to challenge.
