Dier is now our new 'latest link'

Is he what we need? And is it even a possibility?

1.) 08 Jul 2017 14:22:38
I reckon Levy won't let it happen or he will prove to be really really not worthy of the transfer fees that we might want to pay for him.

2.) 08 Jul 2017 15:47:12
Won't be surprised to read that I don't rate Dier highly and wouldn't sign him. Poor use of the ball, switches off a lot and is another of those that would bring little to the table that TFM couldn't bring.

We need somebody comfortable on the ball imo, I'd play with Herrera deep and spend the money on Ramsey who will get goals, run all day, link midfield to attack brilliantly and possibly may be available for similar money after a poor season last year (guessing) . I know everyone will think this is stupid so no need to hammer me for that opinion.

Or I'd double up and go for Verrati, Pjanic or Vidal to actually bring some proven world class talent to the team!

3.) 08 Jul 2017 16:23:55
Actually i agree beast.

4.) 08 Jul 2017 16:24:03
Got to hammer you for suggesting injured all the time Ramsey.

5.) 08 Jul 2017 17:04:08
Beast none of those worldclass talents are cdm's.

6.) 08 Jul 2017 17:18:55
As a spurs fan it's interesting to read your thoughts on dier. Completely way off is probably the kindest thing to say, if you were to chat with a proper fan he'd tell you just as I would. He's our lynch pin. He's better than wanyama, better passer of the ball, a better tackler and reads the game better. Diers downfall is his versatility. He's covered both centre backs, covered walker at times, played as a three at the back and that was just last season, the season before when he played solely as a cdm he was immense! He is in fact a brilliant cdm. He allows dembele to drive forward more. We know he won't be going anywhere in the foreseeable future. But you guys have got it completely wrong about dier.

7.) 08 Jul 2017 18:46:09
Herrera is not suited to the deep role no chance.

8.) 08 Jul 2017 18:55:48
Sorry Beast, but that would be a chronic waste of Herrera. He offers everything Ramsey does in that role (well, fewer goals maybe but creates more chances too) and still wins the ball a lot.

Herrera as cdm is a useful option, but we really should be looking for a specialist there too free Herrera up.

An older cdm, who can hold the position for 2-3 years as TFM matures in an understudy role would be perfect IMO.

9.) 08 Jul 2017 20:48:41
Herrera has played the deep role very well this year.
These days you need a play maker in that role imo Carrick has been excellent there over the years.

10.) 08 Jul 2017 20:52:18
An older cdm. someone who knows the league, and would allow pogba and Herrera to play. if only someone like that was on our radar. Still, if they were, they'd probably be dismissed as a Chelsea reject anyway.

11.) 08 Jul 2017 21:59:27
Herrara is a fantastic player but is entering the final year of his contract. Would be delighted to see that sorted asap!

12.) 08 Jul 2017 22:26:43
Agree with beast, don't rate hi at all and don't want him. he is 5 yards sideway passer and levy and keep him. the weakest link in spurs midfield imo.

13.) 08 Jul 2017 22:35:23
Ive seen that me may also steal bakayoko from chealsea any opinions I don't really believe this but what do people think.

14.) 09 Jul 2017 00:44:31
Weakest link in our midfield x files? lol that's just being silly!

15.) 09 Jul 2017 12:16:32

He is Spurs weak link and who do play him instead off in our midfield?

He is grossly overrated like most young English players.

16.) 10 Jul 2017 13:06:38
He is NOT our weakest link at all, I see him nearly every week. I take it you don't? Thought so! He makes us tick absolutely solid.

17 Aug 2016 18:07:08
Southampton have said that fonte is going nowhere! Interview with sly sports.

1.) 17 Aug 2016 18:25:51
That's usually code for 'we want more money'

2.) 17 Aug 2016 18:58:40
Yep! let's just gy manolas!

3.) 18 Aug 2016 07:25:23
I belive font would give us decent cover at the back. Also reports suggesting that we may be in for Fabhino, Never seen him play if I'm honest. just hope it does not put TBH way down the pecking order.

27 Jul 2016 08:57:29
JM to pull out of PP deal (partly to stick it to Juve and partly because there are other just as viable options) and he will sign Matuidi!

you heard it here first.

1.) 27 Jul 2016 09:39:10
I read this morning that PP's agent had cancelled the medical in Miami. I really hope so. It's not my money so I don't care how much we spend on players. What I do not like is being held to ransom by agents wanting ridiculous fees. Let Pogba go, not sure he really wanted the move back, despite what has been said. Let's move on to JM's other targets.

2.) 27 Jul 2016 09:49:40
We didn't, we heard it in about 20 different places over the last month yet it still seems like we are looking at the player, strange isn't it?

3.) 27 Jul 2016 10:16:45
I hope you're right EZRS. I feel really strongly about his potential transfer - I know it's not my money and United are rolling in cash/ premiership fees going up with Sky money, but:

1. Hate the idea of United looking like mugs, paying over the odds for a player who isn't worth the fee yet - plus (it appears, though could be wrong) being manipulated by an avaricious agent who wants 20% of the fee.

2. If I'm right about the agent, then he'll surely push Poggers into agitating for another transfer in a few years - pocketing yet another mountain of money. Reminds me of Anelka and his charming brothers who kept him on the move - £120m fees accumulated I believe. So 20% of that. (Apologies for crude calculations - sure it's much more complex! ) I know we also have Mino's Zlatan and Micki T but, even if they were fee-hunting also, I'm guessing the money won't be so much.

3. While we definitely need more energy in midfield, I believe that we are in more desperate need of a DCM such as Carvalho, Matuidi, Matic -or even TFM - to protect the unforged defence. This is made for Carrick but he's surely only part-time now. A CDM would then allow us to get the best out of Schneiderlin who played his best box-to-box football at S'oton with Wanyama behind him.

4. Thus (and I know I'm playing football manager here! ) if we pay £30m for a CDM, this could even free up some money to buy another more creative MF such as Kroos, if he could be persuaded to come. So rather than one B2B MF I'd rather have a CDM/ MF for the same money, which would give us a more balanced team.

5. Finally I'd like to see Juventus fall flat on their face and be stuck with PP just for being so greedy! Media (lol! ) report that they are demanding £100m PLUS United pay agnt's fees.

4.) 27 Jul 2016 10:20:50
1. JM wants Pogba over Matuidi so the only reason we would pull out of the Pogba deal is because Woodward doesn't agree with the price, that's not a JM decision
2. This so called doctor said he had no idea about a medical he was supposed to be conducting, confirming the Spanish papers to be nothing more than comic books spreading Spanish propaganda as per usual.

There has been an outline agreement for this deal since before the euros according to someone who works at a marketing company connected with United. Pogba is on board with moving to United. Juve are just holding out for as much cash as possible, that's all that's holding this up. If Real can sell to raise money then they might be able to join the fight (Pogba would prefer Madrid at this moment in time) but that seems unlikely at this point.

5.) 27 Jul 2016 11:03:22
Does anyone else feel that the only real reason that is holding up the deal is that the player is still away on holidays.

We might not even know what the actual negotiations are on about. The fee, we might never know what we actually pay for Pogba, if we do sign him. All the 100-145M talk is in the papers. Yes, we are a bit desperate in the market and pay over the odds but still there are a lot of catches when it comes to Finances involved.

I have the money and want to drive a Ferrari, so I will buy one and not compromise on a Minardi just because that is cheaper and supposedly I can buy 3 of those. That is why Jose isn't looking at Kroos.

6.) 27 Jul 2016 11:14:50
Zzzzzzzzzzz 😪😪😪.

7.) 27 Jul 2016 11:42:55
Who is this Pogba guy anyway?

8.) 27 Jul 2016 12:15:29
never heard of pogba :) but why go for a player who wants to join madrid doesn't make sense.

9.) 27 Jul 2016 12:50:30
My problem with this is that yet again we will waste time trying to get big name players all summer and end up failing and if we need him to complete the team jigsaw then we should go all out to get him.

10.) 27 Jul 2016 13:46:44

The problem is that whatever happens the club can't win. A lot of people think the price is too high already, then ohter people think we should get this deal sorted straight away and get the player in. Obviously the club is trying to do this but there is a negotiation process that we have no idea about and no information on. The newspapers don't help with made up and twisted stories.

This morning, for example, Zidane said Pogba is a top player but that he wasn't discussing him as he isn't a Madrid player. The next minute I see headlines saying 'Zidane confirms Madrid are trying to do a deal for Pogba'. I read the quotes and no he didn't, but people will believe the headline.

11.) 27 Jul 2016 16:58:32
The main problem is people believing as gospel what these click baiting journalists and media outlets are reporting. For all we know a deal may have been done days ago. Until we here from Pogba or Jose I wouldn't take any stock from the drivel reported.

12.) 28 Jul 2016 11:29:48
The whole saga is boring me to death.
We should of done our business early and bought Kante and Miralem Pjanic snd still had change from 100 million.

13.) 28 Jul 2016 13:11:49
Simmo we got 3 first teamsters in weeks ago. Are you real? The impatience of some fans is embarrassing!

14.) 28 Jul 2016 13:58:54
This is the problem with early signings. Everyone then want more and more, wait and see how frustrated people will get when we have a boring deadline day.

15.) 28 Jul 2016 14:06:58
^^^ and these will be the same people who have previously slated us for not getting business done early enough.

16.) 28 Jul 2016 16:08:27
Wazza. i'm as real as they come.
I have no problem with the three signings made at such an early stage, it was good business.
My problem is paying fat cats like Mino Raiola 20 million pounds to sit on his fat arse and hold a club like our's to ransom. If your happy with that then good on ya!

13 Jul 2016 12:40:10
Hi all,

Rumours coming from the red tops (i know i know) are that Barcelona are interested in Memphis.

I genuinely think he will come alive under JM because of the style of play changing under the new boss. And also JM won't let the Rools Royce, nice aprtment etc side of Memphis to take over and distract him from his job as a first team player!

1.) 13 Jul 2016 13:47:20
My gooner mate says he's going West Ham!
Ramsey was on our radar allegedlly.

2.) 13 Jul 2016 14:33:53
I think Hammers would benefit massively from Memphins under Billic.

We really need to keep him this season and see him under JM, he could be world class with the right mentor!

3.) 14 Jul 2016 00:33:02
Funny you mention this. I was trying to relieve my midsummer football withdrawal with some YouTube and watched one of those top 15 United goals of 15/ 16. I know that anyone can look amazing on YouTube (hi Nani! ) but like half of the goals were from Memphis. So he's capable of incredible things, but needs to find consistency, reliability and the willingness and understanding to make the right pass at the right time. My point is that those things can hopefully be taught to him by JM but you can't teach those moments of genius. I for one think that he was hurt by lvg and a lack of consistent match fitness and minutes, and could be the forgotten man who blossoms this upcoming season. Or so I hope.

4.) 14 Jul 2016 22:55:17
Unfortunately I don't think he's Mourinho's type of player. Too unpredictable and likes to play his own game. I really like him and would love to see him progress at United (which I think he really could) but I don't think Mourinho likes that type of player.

5.) 16 Jul 2016 18:02:33
He will be a bench warmer and sold at the end of the season. Nothing like a Mourinho player who insists on players doing their part defensively as well. If we can get most of what we spent on him I would move him now.

13 Aug 2017 17:55:00

that is all.

09 Aug 2017 08:39:14
We were 2-0 down (and getting a drumming in the first half) and we lost 2-1, ROM on a different day would have made it 2-2 and this was against the best club football team in the world!

Who also played their strongest team (no cr7 though) and amde it look like the CL final.

I don't see any other PL team beating that RM side last night IMO.

1.) 09 Aug 2017 09:45:14
Rash could have also have made it 2 all but in that sense bale and Casemiro could have made it 4-2 not taking into consideration DdG against Kroos and Asensio.
I enjoyed watching us in attack, not so much sitting deep because RM punched holes and we leaked.
An improvement to last season is evident. We need to gel as a team and then the prospects will show.

2.) 09 Aug 2017 10:06:26
All the supposed hype with Bale and the obvious flair of modric and Kroos, the stand out RM player for me was Isco. Take him before Bale, CR7.

3.) 09 Aug 2017 10:36:29

This is where the issue arises of judging a player on one good game.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 11:46:11
Every defender makes a mistake here or there especially being new and getting an understanding of playing along side other defenders takes time.

People who are complaining are looking for anything negative rather than the positive side of things. Big, young ball playing CB who IMO will be a very good player for us for many years.

5.) 09 Aug 2017 13:58:38
understand your response but my opinion is not based on 1 good game; after all bale didn't play that badly did he?
Ronaldo- everything has to go through him or he spits his dummy out
Bale great on the day but injury prone
Both the above probably unobtainable or stupid prices
Isco - younger, adds a different dimension to the attack and if attainable a great deal cheaper
just my opinion.

6.) 09 Aug 2017 14:29:37

I agree with you but Bale and Ronaldo are both better players than Isco, last night Isco was the best player on the pitch but that was in one game, over a logner period that might not be the case.

7.) 09 Aug 2017 15:50:13
True, I take your point but imo there is more longevity in isco than the other 2 but just read that Isco could be soon extending with RM so will have to cross him off the wish list as well. lol.

08 Aug 2017 11:11:25
On the Bale issue -

Has something changed from his days when he openly spoke about NEVER wanting to play for UTD?

If he is forced out, there are other teams that can afford him in the Prem so why are we assuming its us that he will choose?

I know what Jose has said but its ultimately Bale who decides and i have seen nothing from hi that has ever pointed our way.

1.) 08 Aug 2017 12:11:34
I mentioned this yesterday, he has said more than once he will never play for united .
But times and people change.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 12:24:20
When did he say that?

3.) 08 Aug 2017 12:39:33
Angle more than once pal it was always roled out when he was linked to us .
But like I sat times and people change, I hope so anyhow I'm a big fan of bale.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 13:55:17
I can't find where he said he'd NEVER play for United.

I've found articles where he said 'He's Happy' etc etc but none that state that he'd never play for United.

You're usually good for an auld quote jred, I'm sure you could find it lol.

5.) 08 Aug 2017 14:09:13
Your first love has finally left and now your pining for another it seems Jred 😀.

6.) 08 Aug 2017 14:35:49
I would be extremely surprised if any player was stupid enoggh to say he would never play for a certain team let alone one of the biggest clubs in the world.

7.) 08 Aug 2017 14:39:45
Mourinho being the manager makes a big difference, he was always first choice and played well in his system. He did say he wouldn't join a spurs rival when he left so hopefully links Chelsea and Arsenal out. Man City have 15 players in that position so it's more of a hope we are first choice. He knows how much the club want him too.

8.) 08 Aug 2017 14:45:47
Not pining just rate him said a few times I don't think he will sign.
See you all ready have the pitch fork out .
Probably says a lot about us.

9.) 08 Aug 2017 15:04:54
Struggling to find it myself but i know for a fact in the past he has been quoted as saying he will never/ never want to play for us.

10.) 08 Aug 2017 15:36:43
Dont ever recall him saying he would never play for us.

11.) 08 Aug 2017 15:38:14
Honestly jred I really can't find where he said never.

12.) 08 Aug 2017 16:14:37
I've done some Googling for at least 2 minutes and can't find a quote of him saying that anywhere.

13.) 08 Aug 2017 16:19:28
I know he said some bad stuff about Liverpool, but I too have never seen the actual quotes of him saying he'd never play for Manchester United. Seems strange as many stars use us to get a bigger contract so saying such a thing wouldn't be advised by his agent.

But I'll have a look for some actual quotes. See what pops up.

14.) 08 Aug 2017 16:26:38
Literally nothing on the internet. If he said it then it's not come directly from him. And then how can it be certain it's not just made up gossip? I don't know, but like Jred said, people change, circumstances change and if he's an unwanted man at RM, why stay? I think we may actually go out of our way to make this transfer happen, however much hinges on what Bale wants to do. Keep on surviving at RM or a fresh start in the EPL and a potential MU star?

15.) 08 Aug 2017 16:35:59
I'll save you all some googling - he didn't say it. He hasn't ever said it. The op is misinformed/ wrong/ lying.

16.) 08 Aug 2017 16:39:18
thats what she said syd :-)

17.) 08 Aug 2017 16:57:51
No Redrose wind it in a bit pal.

I would never post on here and be purposely lying and with a bit of spare time il try to look for the quote.

If it turns out i am mistaken then that's what it will be - a mistkae.

18.) 08 Aug 2017 17:42:58
I posted it yesterday can remember it from a while back .
It might of even been when he turned us down to leave to sign for spurs but it was 're run a few times.
Evenzedan can can obviously remember it even if others can't.
Or maybe we are both lying for some reason?

19.) 08 Aug 2017 17:52:15
What did he say about Liverpool I'm starting to like him more.

20.) 08 Aug 2017 17:43:51
You use to post it back in the day pal.

07 Aug 2017 09:34:18
Have i seen there is another league prediction from AJH for this season?

I have searched but can't find it, can someone help please?

1.) 07 Aug 2017 12:59:16
Just sent it again so it should appear today.

2.) 07 Aug 2017 13:54:05
Wish I waited longer before I made my choices. I made them under assumption that we will actually sign some world class players. Doesn't look like it though.

3.) 07 Aug 2017 16:15:31
Schmidfields gone fishing - who's taking the bait.?

03 Aug 2017 07:38:33
Is it just me or do you guys and girls on here feel a liytle more at ease with us actually having a full pre-season.

Regardless of the results, its a far beeter prep for the season than last years fiasco.

I agree on the back up out and out striker. Mainly due to our second choice strikers not proving to be clinical in front of goal (as yet - i hope they prove themselves with game time this season) .

I will be shot down for this but i think BEAST mentioned (or MAZE) about Vardy as our second striker and i still agree. whether he would even look to us is another thing but for me a back up striker to Rom needs to be EPL proven.
