Griezmann to United links are back

Never saw that coming.

1.) 24 May 2019 15:34:30
Easy headline to write. Wouldn't touch him with a twenty foot pole.

2.) 24 May 2019 16:15:54
Agree I don't want him. Talented player but wants to make documentaries about whether he stays/ leaves.

3.) 24 May 2019 17:00:04
Hes pretty good at putting that round thing in the net thing.

Something we've been abysmal at for 6 years. Would take him in a heartbeat if there was any chance.

4.) 24 May 2019 17:17:08
Because we need another egotistical idiot with a tonne of baggage who's spend every summer doing should I stay or should I go videos. I don't care if he scores a hat trick every game. He's a dressing room liability which is the last thing we need right now.

5.) 24 May 2019 17:28:38
Rumours we've bid for Dembele at Lyon.

6.) 24 May 2019 17:42:48
Yeah Griezmann is world class.
Works his socks off on the pitch.
Again the lack of CL may put the deal off.

7.) 24 May 2019 17:59:32
Good player, seems a real div. Bigger ego than Ronaldo but without his records.

Who creates a documentary called ‘the birth of a legend’ or whatever it was called.

8.) 24 May 2019 18:59:56
it would be hilarious if he has no takers.

List of Cbs as per ed002

{Ed002's Note - Pretty much as it was right now Dave:
- Toby Alderweireld (CB) - but may need to fend off an offer of a new deal from Spurs, Manchester City and Real Madrid
- Raphael Varane (CB) - it drags on rather but Real Madrid may be willing to let him leave this summer for the right price as part of their major rebuild programme – so might be possible
- David Lopez (CB) - do not rule him out - Mourinho will wait and remains keen
- Don’t rule out a move for an English CB to keep the balance
- The likes of Clement Lenglet (CB), Milan Skriniar (CB), Kalidou Koulibaly and others have all been watched but no approaches made.
Umtiti is off the table.

Feel free to add this to the MU page Dave. }.

1.) 05 Jun 2018 20:38:22
Out of those would love Raphael Varane.

2.) 05 Jun 2018 20:12:57
Cheers for the info Ed002 and for relaying dave

Alderweireld would be a brilliant addition.

3.) 05 Jun 2018 20:39:50
Much appreciated Dave and ed002 thank you.

4.) 05 Jun 2018 21:01:17
Skriniar is top quality, I was impressed before he joined Inter and I was curious if he can be solid there. Well, he was very solid this year. But of course I don't think Inter will sell after just one season with them.

5.) 05 Jun 2018 22:37:46
Out of them I'd obviously love varane or Toby. Really like the looks of Lenglet and hope if we go for a cheaper option it's him. The English bit is interesting though, i really like lascelles and think he's definitely better than smalling and jones.

6.) 05 Jun 2018 23:20:08
What about Jonny Evans? He has a 3 million release clause now that west brom went down. Can't believe clubs aren't fighting the bit out at that money. Big improvement on what we have and in today's market its basically a free transfer.

7.) 05 Jun 2018 23:40:33
Cheers Dave

Did you follow 02 to the chelsea page for this run down on CB’s.

{Ed001's Note - he has been following him round Europe, bugged his phone and set up cameras in 002's house to get the info...}

8.) 06 Jun 2018 09:00:24
Ed001 you do realise Ed002 didn't know I bugged his phone. well until now.

{Ed001's Note - you would be surprised what 002 knows. People think GCHQ is a govt entity, it is just Ed002's summer house where he runs his sideline in data gathering...}

9.) 06 Jun 2018 09:21:08
Alderweireld the one for me. Dave and Ed have a great relationship on the continent.

10.) 06 Jun 2018 09:47:47
alderwiereld- don't want to be mugged by Levi for a 29 yo with a bad injury but a stand out player
varane- think he'd be pricey but like his movement again he has had a few injuries
lopez- not seen much
skriniar the stand out for me but tbh JM might well pull another bailly out of the hat as he wasnt really at the front of the list when we signed him
we really need a quality cb as stated cheers dave / ed002 for info.

11.) 06 Jun 2018 11:25:06
I’d say you can have Martial and we will take Vertonghen off you thanks.

12.) 06 Jun 2018 13:49:41
Don’t think there is any chance of getting Varane. The stand out player in the RM defense.
Ramos is the organiser and motivator but Varane is the legs and physical presence.

Any new manager is not going to want to sell him.

Hope I’m wrong as would love him at Utd.

13.) 06 Jun 2018 13:50:37
Cheers Dave and ED002.
We definitely need another top CB to play alongside Bailly.
We always pkay better fotbal when Bailly is playing.
He is sorely missed when he isn't pkaying.
I wonder whst the future holds for TFM and Tuanzabe.

03 Apr 2018 19:12:25
Reports we are in for Ghoulam could be risky I’m sure that’s the one who’s had persistent knee problems.

1.) 03 Apr 2018 21:35:25
Apparently Jose is concerned that the medical staff are getting bored hence he wants Bale as well.

2.) 03 Apr 2018 22:11:57
Does he really have persistent knee problems or is it just this injury that he has now/ is getting over now? I'm looking back on the past 5 seasons and can only see the most recent injury which is long term and a thigh knock 5 years ago which kept him out of a game. I've looked through season by season and game by game and that's all I can find. If he recovers ok from this injury then he could be a good signing from what I've seen.

3.) 03 Apr 2018 21:18:53
Ed002 didn't mention him when he updated us about options of LBs the club are considering, may be if something have changed. Good player but injury records scares.

{Ed002's Note - It has been a year out - high risk.}

4.) 04 Apr 2018 12:00:44
It's potentially a risky move. However, if it we can sign him and he has fully recovered we will be signing one of the best LB's around at his peak.

I remember signing RvN after a similar injury and he turned out pretty well for us, on the other hand Falcao struggled badly.

The thing is we probably need a new LB with Shaw looking increasingly likely to be on his way out.

When we look at other LB's out there all have potential issues.

Tierney, Sessegnon and Aaron Martin are all young and have never played in a league either as competitive or physical as the EPL so they may take time to settle or they might never step up. In Sessegnon's case I don't feel the LB spot will be his position in the long term.

Grimaldo has always struggled with fitness, that is one of the reasons why Barcelona felt they could let him go.

Options such as Alaba, Alba, Alex Sandro, Bernat, Mendy, Kurzawa ect are at top clubs and will be hard/ impossible to actually sign.

players like Willems, or Philipp Max or Jorge are potentially one season wonders and therefore, a gamble.

That really leaves us with Ghoulam, Rose and Gaya. Personally I would go for Gaya. I think he has been excellent for Valencia this season. However, you could question whether he can adapt to a new country. Rose has had injury problems for a few seasons, although he knows the league well and wants the move.
Ghoulam has only had the one bad injury and seems to be coming back well from that, has proven he can adapt to a new league and is in his prime. So I can see why he might be close to a top pick for Jose.

{Ed001's Note - have you really just said Tierney hasn't played in a league as physical as the EPL? Have you never watched the SPFL? The quality may be crap, in the main, but it is more physical than the EPL. Even worse to suggest Sessegnon has not played in a league as competitive or physical! The Championship is the single most competitive league in Europe. It is also a lot more physical than the Prem. Sorry Shaps but that was a nonsense paragraph.}

5.) 04 Apr 2018 12:31:31
Ed001, I said either competitive OR physical.
In Tierney's case I believe the SPL to be physical but certainly not competitive. When playing for Celtic in the SPL a player is a defender in name only, they will rarely ever have to defend. So I feel he will need to move to a more competitive league to fully reach his potential. In that sense until he has he could be considered a bit of a risk. Although personally I think he would do very well.

Aaron Martin has had one very good season in a league which is neither competitive nor physical.

Seesengon I will admit I ballsed that one up, I originally wrote about him in a separate paragraph then decided as he also fitted the young and not tested profile shared by both Teirney and Martin I thought I'd just squeeze him into that paragraph. I do agree with you that the championship is probably as physical and competitive as any league in the world.

With Sessegnon though I feel long term he will make a similar move forward to the wing like Bale rather than continue to play LB.

{Ed001's Note - Sessegnon already has and has said so publicly. Not long term, now. He is a wide midfielder first and foremost now.}

6.) 04 Apr 2018 15:24:47
If you're not careful, you could end up buying Steven from Fulham.

29 Jul 2017 13:00:12
Hi Ed002/ Ed001

Do you have anything new on Matic or Dier to MU

Thanks appreciate it.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think anything has changed. The chances of Dier remain very slim in my view - as for Matic it is a case of agrreing the price and something can be done (and I suspect it will be Dave).}

1.) 29 Jul 2017 13:38:18
I thought Dier would be very difficult as for Matic I wasn't sure if we was still after him as it has gone extremely quiet on the transfer front.

Thanks for info ed appreciate it.

2.) 29 Jul 2017 15:12:06
Nice one Ed.

19 Jul 2017 10:55:06
So reports emerged last night that Marco Verratti wants to bin his agent and go with Mino Raiola and then this morning we've apparently held talks with Marco Verrattis representatives

Who didn't see that coming.

1.) 19 Jul 2017 11:11:37
That would be a good signing.

2.) 19 Jul 2017 11:19:20
Veratti and kroos are my perfect idea of a no6 playmaker. Its not the way jose normally goes he usually pregers a destructive defencive no 6. There are lots of ways of playing the no6 role.
I would pay for veratti what we paid for pogba no issue.
Id also swap perisic for martial in a heartbeat. don't get me wrong i like martial i think he will be a top player but not under jose i feel.
If we sign perisic martial will be 2nd or 3rd choice on the left or 3rd choice cf. So i'd swap him for perisic and invest the dier / matic and perisic cash all on veratti if necessary .
However i'm sure its the papers making up crap and putting 2 and 2 together and getting 22. I am sure ed002 has said veratti does not want the epl and only wants barcalona. But if its on i'd pursue him to the fullest. Let PSG have sanchez and couthino and us have veratti that would be ideal 😂.

3.) 19 Jul 2017 11:25:11
I see where matic has been left out of the Chelsea squad.

4.) 19 Jul 2017 11:32:23
Yes he has leahy. I suspect that he will sign for us as we will pay a lot more than juve.

5.) 19 Jul 2017 11:37:30
Ken. Here we all make mistake mostly. MARTIAL was bought as striker. As no batter winger was available he was deployed there. Now when he can't perform there people brand him as flop. But how many games at a strech he got as Rashford as striker. Without being deployed here and there. He is a striker. Or bought as a striker at least.

6.) 19 Jul 2017 11:49:45

I agree mostly ideally I'd want perisic for now but if Martial where to go I'd only be happy if it was a loan Martial oozes potential so I think it would be a mistake to get rid completely.

As for putting 2 + 2 together and getting 22 is quite correct I'm more of a putting 2 + 2 together and getting 5 kind of person 😂.

7.) 19 Jul 2017 13:02:28
I'd go for Sanchez before I'd go for perisic, that whole transfer now is a bit of a toothache.
The good thing about Sanchez is we already know what he can do in the premiership.

8.) 19 Jul 2017 13:03:52
I know you are Dave. 😁
Rodio you are entitled to your opinion i think he will do elsewhere but imo i don't see him ever playing consistently for jose. They have polar oppisite personalities. We only play 1 striker and martial is 3rd choice at best. I said the same about adnan after his 1st 3 months and repeated it here for 3 years. I got slated then too. Its just my opinion.

9.) 19 Jul 2017 13:37:21
Leahy, Sanchez is the one I'd be desperately trying for.

10.) 19 Jul 2017 14:21:46
Id bend over backwards for Veratti too, imagine Veratti and Sanchez haha, i'd be confident with that team!

11.) 19 Jul 2017 16:09:48
Would love that Dave but I'll be extremely happy with matic.

Also perisic is a very very good player. As a winger I'd much prefer him to most as he hugs the touchline and will get countless assists.

Sanchez is a dream but IMO plays better centrally, we have plenty in those positions already.

12.) 19 Jul 2017 19:36:29
Do any of the Ed's know if Veratti is actually a target and we're interested or if he's due a new contract?

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

13.) 20 Jul 2017 11:18:03
There's nothing from you in there? Or is that the point? Haha.

What's the difference between a sporting director, director of football and a technical director

I really have no idea and I'm curious to know the differences.

{Ed002's Note - It is to do with responsibilities or the structure of the club. Ignore "Sporting director" as it is not used in England. The DoF would typically have broader responsibilities extending to all footballing activities - youth etc.. Technical Directors tend to focus on running the scouting for the first team.}

1.) 22 Apr 2019 20:32:33
Thanks ed technical director sounds pretty pointless tbh.

2.) 22 Apr 2019 21:07:13
Please pardon my ignorance ed, but is it usually a case of one or the other (DoF or technical director) with clubs or do you sometimes see clubs having one each? The only reason I ask is technical director sounds quite limited?

{Ed002's Note - If the club has a strange organisation like Arsenal you could have both - but that has fouled up their recruitment.}

3.) 22 Apr 2019 22:15:48
A case of too many cooks then ed? So with regards to the scouting, if phelan is appointed would it be him who sets the scouts assignments, ie the type of player wanted, and would reports then go to him? Sorry for the questions. Not sure how this works at all!

Thanks for explaining.

4.) 23 Apr 2019 09:32:36
Thanks for the Info Ed002.
I just asked a similar question above before reading this.

04 Feb 2019 21:20:07
I don't believe anything on social media but Eric Cantona has posted a cryptic post.

DOF perhaps?

1.) 04 Feb 2019 21:39:48
Perhaps Director of MUTV would be more appropriate these days!

2.) 04 Feb 2019 22:07:53
Cantona being cryptic? Surely not!

3.) 05 Feb 2019 11:12:55
It's about his new venture, after Brexit the fishing caps will potentially be dropped, so he has bought a fleet of sea trawlers.

He is also opening a string of Martial arts clubs in Croydon.

4.) 05 Feb 2019 19:33:11
Is is King Fu?

15 Jan 2018 09:47:29
Seems all this Sanchez done deal talk was I bit premature. City back in according to reports.

1.) 15 Jan 2018 10:33:52
We will know soon, what reports are these.

2.) 15 Jan 2018 12:00:02
We’ve been humiliated by players choosing elsewhere before, we are used to it 😂.

3.) 15 Jan 2018 12:38:13
Still think he’ll end up at city.

4.) 15 Jan 2018 13:14:48
Judging by comments made, City don’t have the wage or space to add Sanchez in January so surely then it’s purely down to City persuading Sanchez and his agent to wait it out until the summer?

30 Sep 2017 18:10:22
It appears 4-0 is the new 0-0 😀.

1.) 30 Sep 2017 18:46:36
DD its a disgrace jose parks the bus every week when we hit 4 his negativity is getting through to the players.

2.) 30 Sep 2017 19:29:34
4 nil to the Manchester.

Bit like the old Tony Adams offside salute, we have Rom doing his obligatory goal salute 😂.

3.) 30 Sep 2017 19:56:45
Too right Ken. And that Rashford, overrated!

4.) 30 Sep 2017 20:33:27
Waste of time rashford - get rid now.

Will get 10mil for him.

29 Aug 2017 14:39:14
Anyone think we will just bite the bullet and pay inters asking price for perisic or has that ship sailed.

1.) 29 Aug 2017 14:44:15
Hopefully that ship has sunk, the crew have been eaten by sharks and there is no salvage operation.

All hands on the Griezmann or Bale pump, (with a sneaky late bid for the want-away Chilean) .

2.) 29 Aug 2017 15:15:50
Quite a humorous post what you done with the real beast 😂

I honestly wouldn't mind perisic at all proper winger but if signing perisic meant none of the latter where to come in then I agree with you.

3.) 29 Aug 2017 15:38:47
Dave, thought you only had eyes for Sanchez.

4.) 29 Aug 2017 15:50:50
AJH, think discountdave is walking around in the shortest mini skirt he could find. Still Perisic turned him down ;)

5.) 29 Aug 2017 16:21:03
I'd have eyes for you AJH if you can bang 25 goals from the wing.

6.) 29 Aug 2017 17:41:05
No Perisic for me. Not when we could take similar money and buy a legit attacking star like Sanchez, Bale, etc.
