I'm wondering: given our need for a wide attacking player, why we aren't going in for Sanchez? His work rate is fantastic, so that wouldn't be a complaint for Mourino, and he could make the difference in winning the league. He often played on the right for Barcelona, so could fit in there as well as the left, or as cover up front. He's premier league tested, unlike Perisic. Personally I think he's one of the best in Prem right now. And his link up with Pogba, Miki, and Lukaku would be excellent.

The price being touted in the papers is 80mil for a switch to man city. Obv that means very little. And I'm sure Wenger would much rather sell him to a different league. But I'm just wondering why we haven't seemed to show much interest? Is it an issue with Arsenal not wanting to do business with us? Or something else?

If any of the eds (or anyone else) could comment I'd love to know what you think.

{Ed002's Note - Sabchez is clearly a very good player but in building a team JM has always built a squad with players who are required to perform very specific tasks. He will pick players to do these tasks and will return to players he has had before as they know exactly what to do. Even if these are lesser known players like Maniche who is a great example. There are plenty of other examples as well. So even though there are very good players out there - Sanchexz may not be what is needed.}

I had a strong feeling that if Jose was genuinely suggesting a surprise, that it was Sanchez. I don't know why, and wasn't based on anything other than a feeling. To be fair, by feeling I probably mean wishful thinking.
