I've been more than critical of Jose over the past few months. However, I do have concerns about sacking him now and what that will achieve in both the short and long terms.

The problem is that the whole situation is spiralling out of control, the media definitely smells blood and more and more fans are becoming disillusioned with the club.
Jose isn't helping himself and seems to be on a path of self destruction. And to be honest I have little sympathy for him in this regard as this is a path he has walked many times before and he knows where it leads. So if he is choosing to walk it again then he must want to arrive at its ultimate destination.

All this together leaves me with a feeling that it is only a matter of time before the board pull the trigger. I'm still not sure whether it is better for them to wait or to act quickly. There are potential benefits and pitfalls to either action.

My overall concern is this is something I predicted before pre-season, yet it seems like a surprise to the club. That worries me as if they are surprised then it is unlikely they have a real plan to see them through this situation. This will likely lead to them making the same mistakes again and us being back at this same situation in 18 months to two years time.

If Jose has to go then the only way forward is to promote McKenna and Carrick until the end of the season or even beyond. At least until a DoF can be hired and he/ she can start the rebuilding process with a sense on continuity and with a clear ideology.
