What are peoples thoughts on perhaps taking a little gamble on someone such as Afellay, Gourcuff and perhaps Pato? Yes, I accept they've all had their injury issues, but still at a reasonable age, and likely available at reasonable prices.

I'm not suggesting them as potential 'marquee' signings, but perhaps just a little gamble aside of whoever we're targeting this Summer.

Personally, I think Afellay could turn out to be a absolute gem if he can overcome he knee issues, and allowed to flourish in the right environment.

I was a fan of Afellay at PSV but it seems that ever since he left there, he hasn't outshined anyone else. Maybe because the leagues are different, maybe because he has been racked with injuries, or maybe he didn't fit into the line up. I'm afraid with the physicality of the english game he might suffer more nagging injuries but if he's available for cheap he may be useful for rotation on the wings if one of Nani/Young/Valencia is sold.
