The nonames and a couple of new posters talking absolute rubbish to the regulars taking a break from this site, you'd think we were doing an Anzhi.

fact is the window is still open, and there are still plenty of quality players out there to be purchased. How likely they are is irrelevant, it just shows that if the board works hard enough, we'd get a couple of quality signings.

Guissepe De Rossi, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Arturo Vidal, Claudio Marchisio, Lars Bender, Luis Gustavo, Ilkay Gundogan, Milan Badelj, Axel Witsel, Nemanja matic, Jorge Merodio, Blaise Matuidi, Marco Veratti, Jordy Clasie and Adam Maher are all quality midfielders who have the current ability/ potential to improve our midfield. That's without even looking at the premier league options like Marouane Fellaini, Ross Barkley, Yohan Cabaye, Morgan Schneiderlin maybe even Sandro Raniere.

We're not without options that's for sure, and if rooney is to leave, I'm positive we'd be able to get a quality player to fill part of the void left like Willian, Lamela, Draxler ( most probably next season if any ).

My dream summmer would be to keep Rooney, get his a$$ fit and get Ronaldo and Gundogan/Vidal ( guetting a left back would be a luxury, we'd have such a good attack we probably could still win most of our games with Chicharito in central defense ) and play a fluid 4-2-3-1. A front four of Van persie, Ronaldo, Rooney and Kagawa would catapult us back to the upper echelon of european football. Well, one can dream

Vidal, Bender, Gundogan, Veratti, Maher, probably Marchisio are not available to us. A number of other players that you mention have great potential but aren't good enough yet to make a difference maker in the first team. The fact is the available options at CM are dwindling. That is not to say that we won't pick someone up but IMO we wasted valuable time (and looked bad doing it) with Fab and screwed up by not being more serious about Thiago and Strootman. Hopefully we can still at least get enough quality depth in the midfield during this window.
