pps. I started on the site this time last year, and I can't honestly remember it being as bad as this

SteveK

I know what you are saying and normally had SAF been here we would be all quietly confident in the team even with no improvements in the areas we all know should be looked at and still had a moan about it but with a new manager, new chief exec, player fall outs, Rooney wanting away, Evra knowing about the Baines bid, our CM knowing our manager has said they need help etc if we were to go into the season as we are now we could (repeat could) implode drastically.

I will never turn coat on Utd as I am sure 95% on here wouldn't even if we did start to fail but there is a massive danger of this being exactly the case over the next 2 years. We knew this would be the case when SAF left and we all hoped for the big personality that would attract players and added to the pull of Utd would be hard for many players to turn from but whether or not Moyes is respected world wide or not makes little difference when trying to negotiate with a new CE aswell and everone looks and seems green to the jobs.

Its a gamble for Fabregas IMO when you consider where he is at already, there are no guarantees who else we are reinforcing with, we are a step behind his current team, new manager, new club, new move, new tactics etc etc. Allot of this applies to any new signing. Many especially in a WC year will prefer to not gamble from where they are and stick it out but where does that leave us?

I do not buy into this nonsense of he needs time to judge the squad etc. He has SAF there and has played against Utd for 11 years. He knows, as most exp prem managers do, where the weakness ly and what should be done but the problem is getting the players.

To stay competitive in this league we need top prem level players, to get players like Fab Vidal etc can pump us into the CL elite again player wise but our manager is still lacking. IMO we should be targetting top prem players like Fellaini, Cabaye and Baines plus switch out Rooney to solve any potential issues from him and start from there. We get our issues sorted first with the team overall and then look to establish the world class presence in the starting 11. IMO we should have had this plan from the beginning.

Moyes isn't stupid and will know Baines and Fellaini are available and will improve us. A player like Cabaye (read any top creative player) would give us a great core to work with and make us favourites IMO in the league. Yes they are all untested in CL but so what? So is Moyes and we are all trusting in him to lead from the front.

So what I am trying to say really is I don't agree with the mass hysteria that seems to be brewing but at the same time I won't dismiss the glaring problem that COULD just be round the corner if we don't act now! And IMO we have already waited far too long in this window already chasing the type of player that is not going to solve all our problems on his own.

Fellaini and cabaye would not be my first choice obviously but both are prem proven, an improvement on some of the squad, ambitious, and would be good signings at the right price. MrE
