The situation with Wayne Rooney & an element of our support really baffles me.

Rooney is a world clas footballer, that is a fact. He is one of only three that we have who are in that category along with RvP and Mata. At this present moment he is our BEST player. He works harder than anyone in that team and has given us everything he has over the years every time he steps on a football pitch. We are always asking players to show a bit of passion etc, Rooney does that more than anyone.

Yet some people want to hold a grudge and be bitter, saying he should be sold. No other club would sell a Wayne Rooney. Period.

The first time he suggested leaving was because he felt the club wasn't signing top players and he wanted assurances about that, something we as fans have been feeling for years, so what's the difference? The second time, which NOBODY other than him & SAF even knows to be true or not, he wasn't playing as often as he'd like and when he was he was being played out of position. Again, I don't see the issue. I'm happy our players want to play every game, it shows they care.

People will say he only cares about money, but you only need to watch his reaction when we score, his work rate, his desire to put things right to see that Wayne Rooney loves Manchester United. Yes his fitness and form have dipped at times, but what footballer's hasn't? It is always blown out of proportion with Rooney because of his ability and importance to the club and team. Good players always win fans over on the pitch, if he hasn't managed that with some then something isn't right. He has been a warrior for us when others, who are held in higher regard, have hidden.

The fact of the matter is if he didn't want to be here, he wouldn't be. Footballer's have that power nowadays. Signing a new deal when we almost certainly won't be in the Champions League next season, regardless of money he may be getting, is a huge sign of his commitment to the club imo.

I for one will be delighted when he signs his new deal and hope he is made captain in the summer. He has easily 4-5 years left as a top player and can be the foundation that Moyes can build his new team around. He will go on to be our record goalscorer and very high up our appearance list. An undoubted United legend. This will be the most important signing we'll make in a very long time.

You are deluded m8 if you think rooney loves the club he is just a mercenary who will play for the highest bidder and I personally don't think he has played to great this year but then again no one has been to brilliant this season have they also I think rooney has been costing since he got his last pay rise and I wouldn't be to upset if we let him go and were able to play mata or kagawa in their right position as I believe both would be more effective

Dear stevec
Ngiak agrees with you
This whole season
Rooney is the only player bothering to play soccer
He is literally giving his heart and soul
And is carrying the team
All over the pitch
Yet. There are people like the person who replied you.
Ngiak simply can't believe these people
