The atmosphere at last nights match was one of the best I have been part of at united in the last few years, and the team certainly played up to it.

It was not an amazing performance by any means, but we got forward with purpose at times, and showed more passion. Giggs had a brilliant 65 minutes, before he looked a little tired, but kept on going (maybe moyes could've subbed him earlier).

Rooney was immense, he was involved in everything from defence to attack. And De Gea showed why he will be one of the best.

Only real down side last night was Evra, I thought he looked slow and didn't get forward as much as we'd expect. And not sure if anyone saw it, but in the first half olympiakos attacked down his side, and he just completely gave up in tracking back. that's not what we should see from our senior left back.

but its a good win, and into the quarters, so who knows how far we can go.

Rooney immense? He was sluggish and his touch was amateur. Some fans just see what they want. He needs to be dropped

'Not sure if anyone saw it'

We have seen the same thing every game for 2 years, he is nowhere near good enough and was the only united player who was no good yesterday.

"Some fans just see what they want"

i'm guessing this relates to you too.

Completly agree nozzla atmosphere was electric. I also think valencia deserves a mention that eye looked really bad but he played on. Passion and desire of the team was what was great last night. Maybe the first leg of the quaters with evra suspended buttner can prove his worth

Cban, were you there last night? I was and I can tell you this, apart from a couple of bad touches, rooney was excellent. and unless all other journalists are wrong as well, I think you're in the minority!

I may be in the minority, I just think when he plays 'in the hole' he slows down our game, out wide he did ok last night, in the box he did average, playing from deep, not so bad but in the final third he was useless, all season this has been the case, he doesn't have the finesse to occupy this space, all the good he contributes comes from reaction shots or runs from deep or long balls from deep/mid. Good player but not in this role, kags and Mata are good at this, they have a closer control and move the ball quicker, Rooney has lost his pace boys, g nev (a pundit and coach) echoed this theory stating that sir Alex wasn't afraid to sacrifice the marvelous Wayne Rooney, who is under performing and getting away with it.

Rooney was very good. Our shape goes when he goes back searching for the ball and RVP can look isolated. It was better last night because when rooney dropped back, welbeck slotted in and we were more jointed.

We should keep in mind that we scored from 2 long balls one resulting in a penalty and one that rooney got a fortunate bounce back to set up RVP.

We are still not creative in terms of a unit and I think it is the central midfield and a couple of players like a herrera/ kroos/vidal/carvalho would make a big difference to this team.

Cban, he made the run for our second goal, controlled it and directed the ball straight to RvP's feet for a simple tap in. Hate him if you want but don't say he wasn't decent last night you're only trying to kid yourself. Also did you see him chasing back all the way to our own box? clearing the ball on more than one occasions? Shouting at teammates to get them into the right position? You just see that he's not as fast as he used to be therefore think he's become a worse player while turning a blind eye to all the qualities he never used to have as a youngster.
