Two game changers today.

1. reverting to four at the back, even though it was forced on LVG rather than by choice.

2. Fellaini. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I've always liked him and think he gets a raw deal among many on here. Everything stuck to him, passing, bar one, was tidy, and he always looked to be a springboard for any attack.

Up until then, it was like watching the worst of our performances under Moyes.

I hope LVG realises 352 is not the future, sooner rather than later. Sick of seeing 30 passes, one more back, then a lump forward. I really don't know if he would have changed things voluntarily. The injury to Evans actually worked out as a blessing.

I was starting to think Falcao was conducting some sort of anti-LVG protest, when he missed that sitter. Only after did I see the last-gasp touch from the QPR defender. Should have scored from the header. I think he's the sort of player, especially after being out with an injury, that needs a run of games to show his true worth. I hope he keeps his place, because he still offers much more in his all-round game, than RVP at the minute.

And at the risk of upsetting the Rooneyista's, I thought Wayne was particularly sloppy today. The guy's not a midfielder, no matter how much he runs around. Get him up just behind Falcao, and have him used properly.

{Ed004's Note - I thought Rooney was very poor today and should have been subbed for Herrera IMO who would have added a lot more than Rooney today. Falcao offers so much more than RVP ATM. Hope he gets a couple of games in a row under his belt and I'm sure he will start scoring a lot more.
One very worrying thing though. When we went to the back four our attack was a lot better but our defence was appalling. All over the place. A better team would have punished us. It goes to show how big an influence pace has in the game of you analyse from when Wilson came on. Huge difference}

Going by LVGs post match comments I wouldn't hold your breath on him changing formation any time soom.

He was poor, Ed, but you have to be diplomatic on here when discussing Rooney :) Agree with the rest - looked defensively less sound, as you say, when we went to a back 4, but if they've been training using 352 week after week, then I'll give them a bye ball, when circumstances dictate the need to change halfway through a game.

To be honest, I'd take more defensive uncertainty, if it means we're going to create more, utilise our good players in their best positions, and be more of an attacking threat. I'd rather outscore the opposition, then just hope we can sneak a goal and hold on.

DD - unfortunately, I think he'll have to be dragged kicking and screaming, before he accepts it's just not working with the personnel we have.
