You assume it is the players that are missing piece to make it work and spend spend spend and we shall see the promise land.

I say it will never work as city has all the talent in the world and before Mr Van Gal stumbled on to this system for the dutch in the world cup, the Italians have been playing it for Yonkers and Mancini got killed in PL every time he tried it with their wealth of talent.

He is silly man and very stubborn and if he does get the sack it will be because of his insistence on sticking with this thing.


He is also the only manager on the planet that plays Di-Maria as a striker and rooney in midfield and leaves herrera on the bench.

I guess Mourinho and Ancelloti are i. ts for not having figured that out that they should play Di Maria as a striker when they had him at RM.

The center backs still get too many touches of the ball, they are the last players apart from the GK that you want knocking the ball about the pitch.

I will support LVG all the way, but once we have the players to properly play a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 and he persists with 3 at the back then even I will start to want a management change.

GCU I also would prefer playing 4-3-2-1 like everyone else on here.

I absolutely hate the way ADM and Rooney are being used and how Falcao and Herrera are not.


But knowing how stubborn LvG the only solution is sack him or think positive and hope this continuous usage of 3-5-2 is part of a plan that will work.next year if not this year.

A logical view on the 352 formation Mumbai. I can't say I am a massive fan of it but I think we need to support what the manager is trying to achieve with it.
For it to work with our current squad I think we need to move Carrick into the centre of the back line as the brains.
That would mean we have Blind in the holding role and I would have Harera and Di Marea slightly ahead with free reign to hit the wings or stay in allowing the full backs to over lap.
Any 2 from 4 for the attackers but I would like to see Wilson given a fair chance as his pace would stretch teams. actually think him and Falcao could be ideal!!

Rooney, Di Maria, Falcao and Herrera to me are actually our most important players along with De Gea. They all have to play. Rooney behind Falcao, Di Maria on the wing with hopefully another winger being brought in.

Where would Depay fit in a 3-5-2 MB, upfront? That would be as bad as having Di Maria up there. I also wouldn't think that Cuadrado was good enough defensively to play wing back and would be a minimal upgrade on Valencia due to being offensively better.

Has he actually said this is what we will be playing? I doubt its his long term plan. He never played that system before the world cup and only played it due to losing his favourite player to injury.

LVG has never claimed that he plans to use this "long term" he said that this was the best for the current availability of match fit players.

I prefer a 433 or 4231 personally.

I think the West Ham game will be a tell tell of our season. I am already waiting for people to say overreaction if we lose because i will be quite pissed off.

Arsenal and the rest will not be as accommodating as they have so far this season and all playing much better than we are.

Liverpool should have beaten Chelsea last night and in many ways were the better team and they also look like they are getting their stuff together.

I agree that Carrick dropping back would make that formation tolerable but we could play Fellaini instead of Blind in the holding role.

I agree Cuadrado would command massive fee and won't be a big improvement on Valencia defensively. But which other RWBs do we have on the market? Clyne? Coleman?

I am not sure he has said that but I don't see any other reason why he would persist with that formation given that we have played much better with 4 at the back (admitted by LvG himself)
