Cannot understand why there is so much negativity about regarding the upcoming season with so many people already thinking that 4th place is the best we can hope for.
Last season did we not beat liverpool home and away, win at arsenal, thrash city and spurs at home with only chelsea hgaving a positive record against us just as they did against all of the top 4.
We have already signed a quality right back, 2 outstanding midfielders plus the hottest young prospect in europe with maybe 1/2 quality payers to come in. In janujaz and perreira we have 2 exciting talents who will son help us forget about adm. Also lvg will have a better understanding of what the premiership is all about and won't repeat the mistakes he made last year.
All in all we have an outstanding squad so let's look forward to the season with some optimism without all the gloom and doom.

Agree with your sentiments totally, Utd have a better squad than last year and Arsenal, City and Chelsea aren't as good as the media and some Utd followers portray them.
If Utd can sign a truly world class finisher then a tilt at the title is on.

I don't think it's negativity Allan , just being realistic. But that could all change depending what happens in the rest if the transfer window. It is imperative that we strengthen at CB. For me , that is the most important issue to be addressed.
Whatever happens , it is going to take a while for the new players to settle in. To really challenge for the league we need to get off to a good start , but I personally feel it will take several weeks for the new lads to settle in and form an understanding , which may well mean we are playing catch up by the September/ October time.
With the money we have spent , we will certainly be expected to challenge on all fronts. Personally , I just hope to see us playing some good attractive football and entertaining us fans again. After all , that is why we all love the game isn't it?
I guess time will tell.

{Ed004's Note - We have enough players to use while we gradually bring in the new players. If De Gea leaves Valdes has been at the club for over 6 months now (will probably become starting number 1), if a cb is signed Smalling and Jones/Rojo are capable of playing first few games, if a winger is signed Mata and Depay/Young can play until he is settled and then we have Rooney up top if a striker is signed. I reckon we are still in the market for a cb, winger and striker as our net spend will be low when Di Maria goes and probably De Gea}

Didn't LVG confirmed that Valdes will be going ?

{Ed004's Note - Well he hasn't left yet and his twitter posts are more positive now haha}

Liverpool scored over 100 goals 2 years ago and still coundnt win the league. It's not possible without a solid defence. It's what's led arsenal down for the last 5 years. We cannot win the league without reinforcing central defence. I'd put my house on that. Of course with a solid cd signed up things change but as of right now we won't challenge for the title

Absolutely spot on stand United. No defence no premiership and no trophies.
Allan, it is not negativity. It is realistic view. Our defence and attack are simply not good enough. Terry /cahil are far superior to our lot. And curtois best gk in the league. Then they have Costa amd hazard in attack. So let's not kid ourselves. We're simply not good enough.
However, as I said before, if we buy lewi/bale or pedro and otimendi, then we have a chance of challenging them.
