Further on last night's game and some of the games we've been playing under lvg. I have no problem in playing possession football, but only if it leads to some intent.
Rio is right, the games are boring. But if you watch Barcelona and other teams, they too try to keep the ball. But Barcelona keep the ball then change the pace of the attack. They can keep the ball for a bit, then suddenly explode into action. Our team seems to play at one pace (slow) .
All the best teams in the world had the ability to change the pace of the game from slow to fast and back to slow. Brazil side of 1970 is considered by most as the best side ever played the game we love, and they used to play it slowly at the back and midfield and suddenly change the pace of the game by giving the ball to Pele and the likes.
In my opinion, this is the biggest fault we have at the moment, if lvg and the training staff can alter this and ensure we can change the pace, then this team will look a lot better. There is no doubt we have the players to do it, we just need to alter the approach slightly.

Barca were boring to watch most of the time. I think the plan is too push towards that but its a slow process.

I'm hoping last night's game was a blip. but I was hoping Arsenal was a blip too.

Maybe, just maybe our manager has learnt from the start and mistakes we had last year, (inconsistent form/ endless injuries/ changes in formation and everything else he encountered in his first year in the EPL) . He has realised that if we are compact and well, a bit dull we can maybe go for it if come March we are in a position to challenge for honours. As the old saying goes it's a marathon not a sprint!

A bit dull? A bit like saying Mount Everest is a bit big.
