A tight 1all draw with Chelsea in U21's.

Interesting to watch. Credit to Ashley Young, good runs but displayed the right attitude. Phil Jones, however, worried me, senior player, England player so should look head and shoulders above the opposition, should be reading the game and using his vast experience. Instead caught on the wrong foot, off balance and made to look ordinary.

RoShaun Williams however retained his balance, got his body angles right and looked every inch a good defender.

Riley seemed to have energy and Weir looked tricky when switched position. Casey Palmer looked good for Chelsea, bursting skill at pace.

Lastly a crowd of over 9,000, outstanding.

Agree with you there red man,
Jones looked way off the mark last night, needs to lose a few pounds before even getting anywhere near the 1st team.
I thought the likes of CBJ, Varela, Jones and McNair, who have all played 1st team, spent too long looking for the backwards ball like they do in the 1st team. Riley, Love and Weir at least showed some desire to get forward.

Not seen the game yet got it recorded, did anybody watch the sir bobby Charlton documentary he was saying he played in youth games with attendances of 40 thousand! Wow! Its a shame the games are played midweek at night i'd love to go but traveling is a pain in the ar$e don't know if it was jus nonsense but I remember talk of building a little stadium near OT for youth games would be brilliant if games were on the same day, watch the youth first then over to OT for the first, some Rugby league teams have the youth on first then the first team its a good day out.

Born and b red

I wasn't sure about Jones weight, but more about the weight on his feet, he seemed to get square on, unable to react. He seemed to have his body angled wrongly in the starting position and was made to look embarrassed by Chelsea's kids, Williams was a different matter. I noted they were playing like the first team for much of the game almost until McNair went to defence and Weir, Riley moved forward. Perhaps it is a blueprint for all the teams that has been implemented yet it was only when we changed and used a bit of width did we look like causing any problems, the curse of back and across.

The only thing Phil Jones seems to have in his favour is his bravery, and even then it borders on stupidity most of the time and he manages to get injured making rash and reckless tackles.

RoShaun Williams looks the real deal, just needs to learn the art of actually defending and not how to make 50 yard passes like most defenders do today.
