Aguero kane costa lewandowski and suarez are all unobtainable.

Benzema, cavani, aubameyang, mbappe would be as expensive as lukaku or have some notable flaws to their game that would lead to people saying we've had our pant pulled down.

We had a problem scoring goals in the premier league last season and we've signed the highest scoring available player, at least the logic is sound lol.

One thing i will agree with beast on is that ibra did his job and scored goals last season but his lack of pace meant there wasnt much space for martial, rashford, micky and pogba to do their thing.

With lukaku we should be able to counter attack more which should suit the above mentioned 4 better.

Yes we were asked for our opinion and comments in the OP. Therefore the first part of my comment was my opinion, the second part would then be a fact based on my opinion. (It's a fact my opinion is X) .

I'd also be brave/ audacious enough to say I speak for many informed football watchers that Lukaku is not in the same league as many of the players mentioned, but it is an unprovable and everyone will know this because the post was about opinions not based on statistical evidence. A three legged horse could be better than Lukaku in some peoples minds!

I think most people assume that when comparing hypotheticals that it's not possible to claim "FACT". I also write quite often, it's not always possible to proof read and worry myself with pedants (no offence), I'd be here all day trying not to offend or overstate an opinion otherwise. Most people know what I'm getting at and understand that I am not claiming facts when there is no basis to them.

I get it that I am not putting across a popular view on this deal, but it's just my opinion.

Now I'm going to bore off for the night and watch some Cracker, Robbie Coltrane is legendary in it (and that is a FACT) .

Agreed.

I'd like to add the majority of Kane's goals are against average opposition. Hattricks against Hull and wasn't it Watford won him the golden boot. Hardly a brace against City is it.

It's a blessing in disguise that Lukako lost the golden boot otherwise this easily would have been even more crazy money!

You can't have a 'fact' based on an opinion, that just doesn't make any sense.
I do understand some of your misgivings though. However, of all the strikers you listed, there is only one who has been proven to be a better premier league goal scorer than Lukaku, and Kane is absolutely unobtainable. So I can't help but be convinced that we've splashed out on the safest bet.
