We underspent for a number of years and that meant we were in a position where we needed to overspend to sort out that issue. Unfortunately some of that overspend was on players not good enough for us and we have therefore had to keep spending to replace these players. Having new managers and new ideas doesn't help as each manager wants to build his own team. This is why when I see people calling for the managers head after one window I find it baffling.

Also, without saying what the income was and what the spend as a % of income is then a random figure like £600m really means nothing without context. I know you know that, but then you wouldn't be able to get your point across without using that as a stick to beat the club with.

Also United often buy players with add-ons in the deal which are paid if the club is successful or the player is successful, where have you plucked the £600m from?

and how does it compare to other teams for the same period? Would be interesting to know.
